General manager Jason Licht talks about the unhappy ending.
The script flipped in a huge way for the big dog of the Buccaneers’ front office.
After the Super Bowl victory a year ago, Jason Licht told a story of immediately thinking about the next season and all the work he was going to do to bring back his starters and more.
A year later, Licht said he had trouble moving on from the crushing end to the 2021 season.
In the bowels of the Indiana Convention Center yesterday, Joe asked Licht how hard that tough loss to the Rams was on him personally. Joe asked Licht if he was able to turn the page instantly and look forward — like he did a year prior.
Not this time, Licht reflected.
“It takes a while. It takes a while. To lose like the way that the game went, we came back and then to lose like that [against the Rams]. It just, you know, it sucks a little bit out of you for a while. But you can’t let it keep you down, especially since on our side — scouts, scouting department — we aren’t in the offseason; we’re in full-season mode right now. You can’t lick your wounds too long.”
Licht went on to say the taste of Super Bowl victory makes everything else more difficult to accept.
“Everything else just doesn’t feel the same,” he said.
Joe agrees.

Licht brought us the parts needed to win a super bowl and Tampa got a super bowl. Still teams that dont have a ring out there. Lets be happy we had Brady here while we didand had the team we had.

It sucks a lot more than just a little…..especially because of the way we came back and it was the last game of the season……but TBBF had finally sucked it up and got over it….until now.

Bucs lost to the Rams for lack of a good pass rush and a poor secondary. Add to that now our need for linemen and a QB and well..you get the picture. Grab some wood fellow Buc fans, its gonna get windy and rocky next season. Bust open your liquor cabinets. You’re gonna need a few drinks to stomach some of them losses.

And the nightmare rears it’s ugly head. Fing Bowles, his silence speaks volumes. BA at the combine, hardest work he does all year, oh I.forgot, free food & drinks. One big party. I hope he doesn’t smack a waitress for shorting olives in his martini.
