“The Fire Still Burns Deep”

March 14th, 2022

Insight on former teammate.

Few folks know Bucs quarterback Tom Brady like his former Belicheats teammate, linebacker Willie McGinest.

And the current talking head on NFL Network was interviewed from his ride last night to get his reaction on Brady coming out of retirement after 40 days (insert your favorite biblical reference here).

“I’m surprised it took 40 days,” McGinest said. “The fire still burns deep.”

McGinest, who won three rings with Brady, is convinced (tipped off?) that Brady had multiple conversations with the Bucs about returning and likely wanted assurances from Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht that the roster makeup of the Bucs wouldn’t crumble with so many good players currently free agents.

One of those free agents, center Ryan Jensen, agreed on a three-year deal with the Bucs just hours after Brady announced he would return. Funny how that works.

Joe still cannot believe Brady is coming back, even though Brady left the door cracked open for a return. Now let’s see how Licht keeps the free agents from bolting, or finds capable replacements.

Joe wonders how much Brady is recruiting these guys?

You can see the full McGinest clip in the NFL Network video below.

We’re going to lose some. Fournette is replaceable. Cappa is replaceable. Hoping to hear Gronk’s plans as soon as tomorrow.

There is room for upgrades, if they play it right. Replace the veterans who are just past prime enough to no longer have the edge, or slacked off at all during the season, for whatever reason.

  3. August 1976 Buc Says:

Whatever happens in Free Agency happens. The bottom line is the Bucs are legitimate contenders again, even with a Defense that needs to step up.
Another double digit win total and a deep run in post season.
Hopefully Boat parade 2 will be happening. Who knows, but it is a beautiful day in Tampa Bay baby!!!!!!

    GO BUCS!!!!!!!

    CDIII is replacable.

Re-sign the O; replace the D through the draft (except for keeping Whitehead).

Draft: Trade out of thr 1st for more picks then DE, WR, DT, G, CB, TE, RB or get FA.

Buc fans….everythings easy no big deal fools

  6. Bird Says:

Suh may have retired honestly. He has been here for a few years now and has a few young kids. He prolly likes it here. Hope he realizes he can raise his family another year here. Just on the cheaper 6 mil range as he can play less with another soon to be DT to rush qb with speed taking snaps

    Got to keep whitehead IMO

Carlton wants top 5 money and will get it from some desperate team. He comes across as guy that would go to detroit or jax for big money since he got his ring.

d needs major help. we will score our points and have enough playmakers already on d fill the holes with young guys.

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Trading down for more picks seems like a very good option…..we need several positions filled with cheaper-younger players.

  9. David Says:

They’re definitely going to lose some guys but between the draft and free agency they can be replaced with cheaper and younger with no drop off if they play their cards right.
