NFL Insider Expects Bucs To Take A “Big Swing” At Deshaun Watson

March 9th, 2022

NFL reporter expects Bucs to swing for the fences for a QB.

With the possible exception of Adam Schefter and/or Peter King, Joe doesn’t think there is anyone who is as well plugged-in as NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.

So when Rapoport speculates, it is coming from a foundation of intel he is getting from NFL movers and shakers.

Joe already brought word from Rapoport on the “Rich Eisen Show” on Peacock, where earlier in the week he said a Tom Brady confidant told him Brady is still staying in shape “in case” he gets bored with retirement or has the itch to play again.

Rapoport also suggested Bucs fans should monitor whenever Deshaun Watson clears any hurdles with his legal nonsense over his alleged hassles with some 20 women. Rapoport said he expects the Bucs to “take a big swing” at Watson at that time.

How Brady’s status may change a sales pitch for Watson remains unclear. Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians said last week at the combine that whoever the Bucs starting quarterback will simply have to step aside to make room if Brady wants to come back.

You can see the full discussion between Rapoport and Eisen about Brady staying in shape “just in case” in the Peacock video below.

This “Brady coming back” nonsense is just that. Nonsense. And even if he did, it ain’t gonna be to the Bucs. I understand you write stories for clicks, but I think there’s 0% chance he comes back to the Bucs. I’m past it.

  2. ModHairKen Says:

Watson is not coming to Tampa Bay.

Why? They pulled Gruden‘s name off the ROH for writing a few untoward emails, which were intended to be private. Watson abused women in private and it became public.

There is no way this franchise can associate itself with someone who abused so many women and claim to care about its community or its standing with women. Watson is a stench. I mean, they’d be going from “goat” to “gross.”

They’d have to post warning signs at the gates. “Please watch out for DeSean, if you are a woman with hands. “

  3. Bucs Guy Says:

Please stop with the Brady returning stories until he has a press conference announcing his return.

  4. SufferingSince76 Says:

Ain’t happening. Darcie won’t allow it and the price will be too high.

  5. SufferingSince76 Says:

How did I miss all the stories of Wilson going to the Broncos, if these guys know so much?

  6. Guzzie Says:

How bout trading Brady, using that draft capital to trade for Watson, sounds implausible, but the trade off is a couple of years with Brady or 10 plus with Watson, he obviously didn’t rape any of those women or he would have been arrested by now, he’s obviously a creep, but seeking counseling and profusely apologizing, plus a couple of Super Bowls, I’m willing to bet any fan base would be willing to give him a 2nd chance

  7. Mickman Says:

They are outta their mind if you think this is accurate. The guys is going to grand jury on Friday for 10 criminal cases 3 of those sexual assault. Still has 22 civil cases, his career is over!

  8. Hodad Says:

Joe wants to talk about any QB not named Gabbert until he has to. Joe knows none of these things will happen, but it’s more fun than discussing what the real QB situation is in Tampa. That would be Gabbert, and Trask. When real football begins we can get back to real Buc stories about what actually is going on with the team. Heck, that will be as soon as next week when Gabbert is signed. Plenty of time for real stories when Gabbert is introduced as the starter next week. Until then, Brady is drinking water, Marcy Glazer is dating Watson, Jimmy, and Teddy are on their way, you get the drift. More fun than talking about Gabbert, and Trask till we have to.

  9. Bruce Blahak Says:

    double nuclear, projectile vomit!!

  10. Buc92’ Says:

The deal is already in place , they are waiting til after fridays deposition… The news will break late March. Deshaun to Tampa is done ! It’s all in the back channels of league circles

    GoBucs!

  11. A Real bucs fan Says:

Hiss’s , Do you ever have anything positive to say?
All your posts are the same ..bla bla bla

  12. Buc92’ Says:

Darcie is cool with it , she just wants to win .. Not date Deshaun, she signed off on Deshaun maybe a month ago that even ALLOWED Jason & Bruce to begin doing EXTENSIVE homework on the trade in the first place They wouldn’t waste time & man hours for nothing on Deshaun

    GoBucs!

  13. DBS Says:

Hodad still praying to his Gabbert bobblehead doll.

  14. David Says:

    How? With what cash?
I’d rather sign as much of the team back as possible and have an average quarterback then have a really good quarterback with an average team and a defense that can’t stop anything

  15. Niles Says:

Rapoport says that Brady confidant says that Brady says … is that double or triple hearsay? LOL

  16. Tye Says:

Hopefully the rumors are true and the Wilson trade was all about the Seahawks trading for Watson… Keep him off of the east coast…

  17. Eric Says:

I get the feeling from reading the lawyer speak that no felony charges will be brought by the Grand Jury, and any misdemeanor charges will be far less than 20.

The Grand Jury convenes Friday. That can provide political cover for the DA because they could charge him without s Grand Jury. The DA can say “I tried” if no charges are filled to defend against the onslaight of the “me too” crowd.

  18. SB~LV Says:

    Yer OUT!!!

  19. Tampabaybucfan Says:

whenever Deshaun Watson clears any hurdles with his legal nonsense over his alleged hassles with some 20 women

    Wow!!! legal nonsense, hassles?

We’ll see what the Grand Jury says……and how much Watson pays in civil settlements for all the “nonsense”

It may take a while to clear all the hurdles including the NFL suspension.

Jameis got 3 games for his single hassle….how much will 22 get Watson?

  20. Cleanhouse Says:

    I don’t foresee a venture into the D.W. world having a happy ending….

  21. Cleanhouse Says:

And honestly, isn’t it time as a society that we legalized the rub and tug? Who does it hurt?

  22. ben Says:

can 22 ladies all be wrong ? Why would a team want such a guy as the face !

  23. SKBucsFan Says:

    Anything for a click!

  24. lambchop Says:

The main reasons Watson won’t be welcomed to Tampa.

Darcie Glazer K. It’s like Watson has a guy like Brady on the Bucs to overrule a team decision.

No matter what happens with his legal issues, NFL suspension, Watson will be a huge distraction for his team the minute he’s allowed to play. Where is he mentally?

  25. Nicholas Carlson Says:

“His legal nonsense over his alleged hassles” is a pretty blithe way of describing 22 allegations that he forced women into sex acts. As a reader, I prefer a little more precision and less euphemism.

  26. Mike Johnson Says:

Come on Licht. Fly Watson in on a private Jet straight to the very best Gentlemens club here in the Bay area. Sign the man. Our SB chances go up at least 50% with this guy.

  27. lambchop Says:

    *not like

  28. HC Grover Says:

He looks like Maxwell Smart…sorry about that Chief!

  29. Its a Bucs Life Says:

I’m over the Brady drama, trade his rights

I could see Trask playing weeks 1-6 and then Watson coming back from suspension and playing the rest of the season

  30. Cobraboy Says:

Sorry, but pleading the fifth in Grand Jury criminal testimony is not exactly the thing a truly innocent man does.

I doubt he plays in the NFL in 2022, maybe 2023, and if indeed indicted and sent to the Big House, maybe not for 3+ years.

    By then he’s done.

    Or maybe the USFL.

The Watson talk needs to just stop.

  31. RottenAmiigo94 Says:

As long he isn’t gambling on NFL games. I think he will be fine lol.

  32. jehzsa Says:

I still think that Deshaun Watson should hire Antonio Brown as both his legal representative and PR man.

Btw, his ankle is doin’ so much better.

  33. BucsFanFromWayBack Says:

    NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

    Stranger Danger!!!

Look i liked Watson at the beginning but he’s shown to a terrrrrible person with these off field actions. We’d literally have to mortage the future to get him, he has the black cloud(s) of mutliple legal issues and NFL suspension AND he’s always hurt anyways. STAY AWAY

  34. Niles Says:

“ben Says: Can 22 ladies all be wrong ? Why would a team want such a guy as the face!”

The team that drafted Jamoist Winston.

  35. Niles Says:

“BucsFanFromWayBack Says: He has the black clouds of mutliple legal issues.”

Yeah, but, black sells. If Kyle looked like Dassault, well then, Bucs nation would be screaming for Kyle to start.

  36. Biff Barker Says:

Zero chance Bucs are in the mix for this turd.

  37. Rayjay1122 Says:

    Tommy
    Retired
    Already
    Stop
    Kvetching

  38. Jeff Says:

Tom remains the number 1 story in sports if he keeps the door open with misleading commentary that infers he could come back. Marketing 101

  39. USFBUCS Says:

I think the Bucs will roll with Trask as the starter, restructure some deals, and sign several of their own free agents back to keep the core intact. Then they will draft the positions we are short on. This will give them a year with Trask on an NFL field to see if he can do the job. If he can’t then the Bucs will have a better draft pick and move up to get their next QB of the future with our new coaching staff.

  40. SlyPirate Says:

Seattle wants Watson and they have a ton of draft capital. The only way the Seahawks don’t get Watson is if he (Watson) declines the deal.

  41. Anonymous Says:

Boo we need to spend those Elsewhere

  42. Buccos Says:

I would love to see them sign DeSean. I would probably like a long term deal with Watson more than one more season with Brady. Then if Brady wants to return we can trade him to recover the draft capital we spend on Watson.
