seem’s to be the way of the market, supply and demand. I’m ok with it as long as he continues to get better. He’s still only 25

  2. Anonymous Says:

He’s earned whatever it is that THEY pay him. Some of yall need to quit pocket watching
    Go BUCS

  3. ben Says:

BIG thanks,Tom .. The bucs are now back being a favorite team of the fans and nfl. Great being a top dog !!!

  4. Francisco Guzman Says:

They need to upgrade that DL and bring back Gronk man.

  5. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

He’s actually worth it…unlike that grossly overpaid CB years ago that Joe liked so much.

  6. Bird Says:

There were two top level guys. Actually both ranked in top 5 FA. And young guys

Supply and demand. There were others in next tier but most older guys that are prolly just games away from being dunzo

So 15 is a good deal

Is he a top 10 db. I dont think so. But again …when only two guys out there …they will get paid

  7. MidAtlanticBucsFan Says:

My hope is that GM Licht and his staff learned from last season, realized their defensive secondary was not as good as they thought, and continue to upgrade the DBs.

  8. HC Grover Says:

    Inflation

  9. SKBucsFan Says:

I don’t think he is necessarily overpaid, I think the position is! We have overpaid for a position that has less impact than the front 7. Paying one player 7% of the teams total wages when there are 9 positions on the filed that are equal to or more important is not good math.

This constant re-working of contracts league wide needs to stop. It is a loophole that mocks the salary cap. Most teams are guilty. And in a couple of years from now it will show. The only saving grace is that Licht could draft 4 or 5 contributors on the cheap this draft.

  10. Steven007 Says:

Based on the market it’s more than a fair deal. You want to see an unfair deal? Look at what Christian kirksey got yesterday from the jags. That’ll make you feel better.

  11. Timbucs2 Says:

Considering his injury history, I say yes, but what better options are there?

  12. Beeej Says:

He is a B or B+ player, and he looks to be getting B or B+ money… Seems equitable

  13. LOL Says:

This isn’t really even a legitimate question. Davis is a steal at 15m/yr. It’s 2022 people the market for players is up. That’s why qbs are signing for 50m/yr now……. every position is in a high demand nowadays.. except RB…

  14. Mouth Breather Says:

It’s all Bidens fault. Let’s Go Brandon. These thugs don’t deserve these big paydays.

    Mouth Breather. Trump 2024

  15. Its a Bucs Life Says:

Unless Davis and Jensen are Pro Bowlers the next few years these are bad deals

  16. August 1976 Buc Says:

They are in a hard spot, C Davis is not great, but by no means is he a green horn rookie. So really they were kind of forced to do something with Davis while Brady is still a Buc.
But as others have said, they need to overhaul the secondary.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  17. David Says:

People look at interceptions and whenever a cornerback gets burned and that’s it. Carlton Davis is a top 10 cornerback. He blows away Diggs in everything except interceptions.
He shuts down top receivers & and he enables the defense to be more versatile.
I didn’t think they’d be able to afford him but very happy they locked him up

Maybe talk to Brady about the Jensen Deal. How is Jensen a bad deal, Brady was Facetiming with Ryan Sunday before Ryan signed later on Sunday.
So if the GOAT wants him, that was a done deal. All Jason siad was Sign here Ryan.
And the Davis deal was a case of between a rock and hard place. It is win now while the GOAT is still the Bucs QB. You cannot out some green horn rookie in there at CB

    GO BUCS!!!!

    Its a Bucs Life

Its 2022 man. I am sure you are having a hard time grasping the change that is happening around you. It’s ok, the Bucs are not getting fleeced dude. they are in a great place now because of these 2 new TEAM FRIENDLY deals LOL

  20. Beeej Says:

Put another way, Davis is one of the best in the NFL at single covering their number one receiver and preventing him from catching the ball, that is undeniable

  21. Mike Johnson Says:

Many secondary’s have to work hard for lack of a good pass rush. Does this ring a bell?

  22. Bucsfanman Says:

It depends. Sure, it’s market value. In that aspect we did not overpay.
Now, if he underperforms with this salary…then yes, we overpaid.
I, personally, thought it was a wise move to bring him back.

  23. RandsABucFan Says:

Not if you can put him on an island with every teams best receiver and dominates.

  24. Buczilla Says:

Damn, I missed the poll! Joe wrote something last night about folks kvetching because Davis misses too much time. Lol, of course! This dude has never played an entire season since we drafted him and I don’t think that players that miss significant time every year should be rewarded.

Look, it’s a great deal for us if Davis can manage to stay healthy, but he has proven incapable of doing so thus far. I hope that I’m wrong, and I’d also love to see us pick up another corner in the first two rounds of the draft.

  25. DoooshLaRue Says:

We’ll regret it when he goes down with an injury early in the season.
