Gronk Talks Free Agency With CBS; Doesn’t Mention Bucs

March 12th, 2022

With the free agency siren going off in 44 hours, Joe is inhaling every swirl of smoke.

CBS Sports reporter Jerr Kerr talked to Rob Gronkowski for a story today and the superstar pending Bucs free agent tight end didn’t mention Tampa Bay when he was hit with questions about continuing his career.

As he did last month, Gronk talked about Joe Burrow being a quarterback he’d be interested in playing with.

Yes, Gronk is working out twice weekly at One Buc Palace, but he doesn’t seem to be all-on on Kyle Trask or Blaine Gabbert.

It’s likely the Bucs will not have any cash to sign Gronk as they have greater priorities among their giant free agent class, and limited salary cap room. And perhaps Gronk prefers to choose the quarterback with which he plays.

Gronk is basically staying at his girlfriend’s house (OBP) while trying to hook up with a new, hotter chick.
Thanks for your service and I wish you well Gronk.

  2. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Gronk has a pipeline to Brady, and wants to play where he plays.
Unless Brady really IS retired, and plans to stay that way ?

  3. Defense Rules Says:

DooshLaRue … Strictly business on Gronk’s part. We’d all do exactly the same if we had the opportunity.

  4. Oxycodoms Says:

none of the players talk about trask

  5. Listnfrmafar Says:

So why does Watson think the Bucs give him the best chance to win a SB? Now it looks like they have no TE.

  6. Miller5252 Says:

Gronk is probably waiting to see what Brady does. If Brady doesn’t come back, I’m sure Gronk will choose buffalo, Raiders, I think he would love to be in Vegas full time, or another contender like Rams and maybe Denver. He’s not coming here unless Brady shows back up.

  7. Pewter Power Says:

Gronk has never played for any other quarterback, I’m ok with going young at tight end if we have a new third receiver

  8. catcard202 Says:

I think Gronk has earned the right to chase another ring, if he chooses keep playing…If he wants to go to CIN. Good on him!

  9. Alanbucsfan Says:

Burrow is the best… next to Brady

  10. DoooshLaRue Says:

    I’m not knocking him.

  11. Beeej Says:

Well, you can’t pay EVERYbody on the team $10 million a year. There’s a few good tight ends in the draft, this kid McBride from Colorado State is my fav. Great hands, great blocker, but he probably won’t be available at #27

  12. Buxfanintx Says:

    Buffalo will sign him

  13. sasquatch Says:

    Bye bye. It’s been fun.

  14. Alvin Scissors Harper Says:

    Kiss Gronk goodbye!

  15. Eric Says:

Gronk will play with Brady in San Francisco along with Godwin

  16. T REX Says:

Brady isn’t coming back to this awful staff. They suck.

  17. Posey99 Says:

“none of the players talk about trask“

    Only Mike Evans.

  18. Aceofaerospace Says:

Would love to keep him, but don’t think we can. Thanks for the memories Gronk! Best wishes.

  19. Weston Says:

Guess you missed the part where he talks about his teammates being a reason he would come back

  20. gotbbucs Says:

If Arians goes back to what he’s historically done in offense the TE won’t see that many balls anyway.

  21. Cleanhouse Says:

Trade Brady’s rights and a some draft picks for George Kittle

  22. Weston Says:

    From the article:

What would urge you to return to the NFL for another year?

Gronkowski: “It’s been an unbelievable ride, and I have a lot of support from my teammates. I have so much love for all of them.”

Seems like thats a pretty pro-Bucs statement

That seems like a statement from a guy who played for the Patriots for years.

  24. DoooshLaRue Says:

    You’re dreaming Weston.

  25. Beeej Says:

If the players talk about TRASK, then they’re dissing Gabbert. (and vice-versa) That’s why I’d love to see someone ask AB about Trask/Gabbert…I’m pretty sure he has no favorites there

  26. Listnfrmafar Says:

    Weston he doesn’t mention coaches.

  27. firethecannons Says:

Bye Bye Gronk! Thanks for the memories!

  28. Listnfrmafar Says:

New video game only sold at One Buc Place, Gronky Gone.

  29. Klobberfish Says:

Gronk knows how to win just like TB (Tom Brady) and neither Gronk or TB will play for A-h… Arians again!!! Look how he ran on the field and slapped his own player in the head and he has lost his players respect and you are going to see alot of players leave including Leonard Fournette and Ronald Jones!!! Bucs need to get rid of Arians and let the younger coaches run the show!!! Gronk if he plays will show up in Buffalo (his hometown) or Cincinnati cause he’s a winner and wants to win or if Brady signs somewhere else like SF he will follow him!!! He will not play for Bucs cause they are on their way down!!!

  30. LakelandSteve Says:

You know that Gronk wouldn’t make a move unless he talked to Brady and confirmed if he was staying retired.

  31. Bucfan1988 Says:

Just saw where Dallas Cowboys are asking RT La’El Collins to seek a trade!!

    GENIUS IDEA!!!!

Snag Collins for our RT !!!
He’s currently $10MM a year…Can structure to partial salary with signing bonus. Dude is only 28 years old & has a nasty side to him!!!
Cowboys said if they can’t find trade partner, they may outright release Collins…

    Next step…
    Slide Wirfs to LT

Trade Donovan Smith his huge salary for draft capital!!!!!
Have a feeling that since Brady is gone, we’re gonna see that lazy side to Smith starting to show its face again 🤷🏻‍♂️….

    LOVE this idea!!!!

  32. SB Says:

@Bucfan1988………do a little more research and you will see why it is a Baaaad idea.

  33. steele Says:

If Brady had any issues with the Bucs, and what is coming, then undoubtedly Gronk knows. Whether he agrees, who knows, but this is not the behavior of a guy who is sticking around.

  34. Killian Says:

New trade idea, send Brady to 49ers for Kittle and draft pick, Jimmy G and picks go to Houston, Watson to Tampa. 49ers sign Gronk. Everyone’s happy…

  35. TJ Says:

Yes Gronk is gone. It was a fun 2 years. I think we won a SB not because of Bruce Arians but in spite of him. It showed in year 2. Brady and Arians were mismatched from the start. I do concur all these players like the younger coaches and coordinators nowadays. Or at least the coaches that dont have the huge egos and are control freaks.. The crusty Belicheks, Arians, other dinosaur coaches that do not have a feel of what’s going on these days are numbered. Brady will be a 49er at some point.

  36. tampabuscsbro Says:

I want to bonk everything over the head that suggest putting our all pro right tackle at a position he is unfamiliar with.

  37. adam from ny Says:

gronk looks really ripped in the above photo ^^^^^ more than normal…

i don’t remember him being this cut up…and cheeks are sucked in too…

he must have dropped a few pounds that week, or been dehydrating, or taken a water pill to make an appearance at the espy awards 🙂

  38. mark2001 Says:

He gave us 100% effort on the field. Was instrumental in one SB victory. Good luck to him.

  39. Sparky Says:

Gronk did the same thing last season. Played it cool, pretended he might look around. It means nothing.
