With the exception of Tom Brady, Joe thought the next logical candidate for NFL MVP was Rams receiver Cooper Kupp.

Every time the Rams needed a big play, who did they go to? Cooper Kupp. The SOB always found a way to get open and inflict pain upon a defense.

You know, you just know, that each week, an opposing defensive coordinator crafted a gameplan with the focus of stopping (limiting?) Kupp. No one did. That, to Joe, is an MVP. Especially when his team wins the Super Bowl.

Well, it seems the Bucs have their own version of Kupp. And his name is Chris Godwin.

Last night after signing a three-year deal with the Bucs, avoiding the dreaded franchise tag, Jenna Laine of ESPN pointed out how similar Godwin and Kupp are.

Chris Godwin has caught at least 70% of his targets in three straight seasons. He and Cooper Kupp are the only wide receivers with 50 receptions and a 70% catch rate in each of the last three seasons, per @ESPNStatsInfo.

Joe knew Godwin was talented but Joe was unaware Godwin was Kupp-like. No wonder Tom Brady targets him so much.

Now, Joe wonders if Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht can find enough spare change between the couch cushions to get Honey Badger and keep Playoff Lenny and Will Gholston?
