Bucs Trade For New England Guard Shaq Mason

March 15th, 2022

Bucs GM Jason Licht.

UPDATED 7:50 p.m. – Well, this helps getting over the loss of Ali Marpet and Alex Cappa.

Per Andrew Sullivan of the Boston Herald, the Bucs traded a fifth round pick for Belicheats guard Shaq Mason, a fourth-round pick of New England back in 2015. He turns 29 this summer and has made over 100 starts for the Belicheats.

He’s well-versed in blocking for Tom Brady, and he’s durable too, having missed but 10 games in eight years. Of course, under the mentality of the Carlton Davis haters, Mason is brittle and should be cut.

Perhaps the best part of this signing is that it will help Tom Brady’s confidence in his interior line. Brady can’t be dropping back and hearing footsteps. Also wonderful is that Patriots fans are crying online for losing Mason for such a low draft pick.

The wild and fun part is that Mason is set to earn $7 million-plus this year, and he’s signed for 2023.

Damn, the Bucs are working that salary cap — and likely will be cutting players tomorrow.

  1. SausageKingOfChicago Says:

Great move! My buddy who is a Pats fan really wanted him to stay in New England.

  2. Joseph C Simmons Says:

PFF had Mason rated higher (#4) than both Marpet and Cappa last year. Licht is just killing it. I love this trade.

  3. Jim Says:

    Love it! LFG!

  4. Eric Says:

Jason licht has turned into one of the best GMS in the league out of no where. Love it

  5. Bird Says:

Pro football focus (whatever) ranked as 4th best rated guard in 2021

I think he has two rings with brady in NE?

    Licht making moves
For a fifth rounder i believe

  6. Costa Rica John Says:

That helps. Most 5th round picks can’t help you from day one. We are in Super Bowl or bust mode.

  7. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

Obviously has the TB12 seal of approval.

  8. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Where in the world is all of this money coming from….I guess we’ll find out……I’m thinking they must have worked out a deal with Godwin…..or are planning to cut Brate, Succop & Pinion……

This makes our draft much clearer now……focus on DT…..S….Maybe CB…..RB, TE…OLB……and, of course Punter & Kicker.

  9. Preacher Says:

This is a awesome move. Mason is solid

  10. Casual Observer Says:

    Sounds like a great move!

  11. DaBux Says:

That GM Brady is hitting home runs every day.

  12. Marine Buc Says:

Cool. I just wonder why NE let him go so cheap…

    Never mind – I just looked at his salary… $10M – $6.5 base plus $3.5 bonus.

I hope we can restructure this deal.

Other than that it looks like a solid move after losing both Cappa and Marpet.

  13. HC Grover Says:

    Sweet!

  14. Tampabaybucfan Says:

As I recall, the last time we traded for a NE guard it turned out pretty well…..get the BBQ grill ready Shaq…..

  15. Steven007 Says:

Tremendous game experience, starting 98 since he’s been in the league, and he still only 28. Great value here.

  16. Zzbuc Says:

Joe since when somebody who thinks that Carlton David is not as good as you think becomes a hater??!!!I think he is average and I am VERY far from hating him.

You use hate word in a very star he way!!!

  17. HC Grover Says:

This team will be better than ever.

    LFG

  18. YucstoBucs Says:

Confused with the Justin signing and thought WR could wait, but 3 years 30 million with 20 guaranteed? Maybe I’m missing something, but without Julio and Calvin Pete Rose could only reach 700 yards and 4 TDS ? Seems like a lot of cash, but maybe issues with Godwin ? I hope not and please stop with this is all a smokescreen and Brady will be in San Francisco aka the city where you can go into stores and snatch anything.. Go Bucs

  19. Zzbuc Says:

    * Strange

  20. Francisco Guzman Says:

Tampabaybucfan or restructured and extensions. Surprised we haven’t heard much from Gronkowski. They need to sign someone on that DL!!

  21. Bucanero Says:

    Kudos Mr. Licht

  22. PassingThru Says:

As I wrote in another post, just think of Shaq Mason as a near-equivalent of Ali Marpet, playing on the opposite side of the Center. Solid pass blocker, one of the best Guards at run blocking.

  23. BA4President Says:

Remember how many people wanted Licht fired after the 2018 season!?! Yes, Brady changes things, but I think it is also a testament to GMs figuring things out. There’s no true preparation for being a GM other than actually putting on the boots, doing the job, screwing up, and learning from mistakes.

  24. Pewter report Says:

Best player available in the draft even if that’s a running back I hope Zion or Wyatt are there but with these moves no need to reachin any round ala no mj stewarts

  25. SPARKY Says:

Wow, I’ll be dipped in sh#t! Great deal. Now go to work on the defense

  26. HC Grover Says:

Bellicheat…The gift that keeps on giving.

  27. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

Just sayin…… San Diego State has a REALLY good punter…… ok, I’ll shut up LOL

  28. Mike Johnson Says:

Defensive Pass Rush? Just sayin, The Rams got their same ole good A..Defense.

  29. DaBux Says:

Reading Pats and Falcons message boards today is the new internet porn.

  30. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Did I read this correctly…..Russell Gage deal….$30 million over 3 years?…….that simply can’t be right.

  31. Francisco Guzman Says:

Tampabaybucfan i think that’s right. Where does this leave Gronkowski?

  32. Buczilla Says:

Nice pick up and hopefully we’ll draft one too. I’m critical of Carlton’s injury history because his unavailability has hurt the team. Shaq has actually managed to make it through one season unscathed. Carlton? Not so much. If Carlton can make it through the season and not miss any games I will love him and sing his praises.

  33. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    Francisco

Yep…just checked it out…..where did we get $30 mil for another WR?……

Something is going on behind the scenes…..

  34. Tim Netherlands Says:

I think we are going to trade Godwin and draft a replacement with his pick (Jahan Dotson, Penn State).

With the 20 mil saved we going to beef the DL by signing Chandler Jones and Michael Pierce.

Draft OG 1st round, DL 2nd round, DB 3rd round, RB 4th round.

  35. DaBux Says:

Francisco, Gronk will get 5 years, $35 million, $20 million guaranteed. Watch and see as the last 3 years are option years. It will be an expensive boat parade, but worth it.

  36. gotbbucs Says:

Question is, do they see him as a right guard or left guard? They signed Stinnie to back-up money and I expect them to still want to keep him in a back-up role.
I don’t think this move eliminates the guard position from a priority in the top four rounds of the draft.

  37. Tim Netherlands Says:

Godwin will be traded before Tomorrow

  38. Bird Says:

Yah. Gage deal seems cray cray. Thats a lot for # 3 receiver even if godwin misses a few games

  39. Bucamania Says:

    HUUUUUUGE!

  40. Francisco Guzman Says:

Tim Netherlands if they traded godwin it better be for a high first rounder. Also getting Gronkowski back would have to be very important.

  41. Francisco Guzman Says:

I am not trading godwin unless I get a first rounder.

  42. Bucamania Says:

    All in in 2022!

  43. Listnfrmafar Says:

Gage I the perfect receiver for Brady’s game. Mason, I’ve watched him for years, ehh. Cappadocia was better. He’s not gonna hurt ya.

  44. Bird Says:

Godwin aint going anywhere guys. You think brady wants his best option gone for year he comes back

Now. This could mean godwin is bye bye next year. Remember- normal solid receivers are getting 20 mil a year now

  45. Duane Says:

Number crunchers are going to be busy restructuring a bunch of contracts to make room. They still have a bunch of can to kick down the road. Defenders likely to come next. No Whitehead, maybe Honey Badger is coming…

  46. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Tampabaybucfan Says:

Where in the world is all of this money coming from.. ”

Easy…they don’t have to be under the cap yet, so they can spend 🙂

  47. Francisco Guzman Says:

List you couldn’t be so wrong on Mason. The patriots running game thrive with Mason at the helm. I would take him over marpet .

  48. SC Bucs fan Says:

You aren’t getting a first round pick for a guy who might miss the first 8 games.

  49. HC Grover Says:

@Bucmania…Looks to me Brady and his Bucs are building an unstoppable offense and a ‘No Name’ defense like the 72 Dolphins.. There will be no ‘slow starts’ this year.

  50. geno711 Says:

Mason, I’ve watched him for years, ehh. Cappadocia was better. He’s not gonna hurt ya.

Most Pats fans on social media disagree with your ehh assessment of Mason.

    Not surprising to me.

  51. Your Mom Says:

Brady’s like, “Hey Jason, you know who’s good…”

  52. Francisco Guzman Says:

SC Bucs fan then i am not trading him. When healthy the guy’s a top player.

  53. Beeej Says:

This guy’s better than Cappa for less money, win win

  54. Buczilla Says:

    @Tim Netherlands
    March 15th, 2022 at 5:09 pm
Godwin will be traded before Tomorrow

I would be thrilled if we got at least a first round pick for him, but I don’t see it happening now that Brady’s back. I’m going to cut Licht some slack for the bone head move of franchising Chris again too. For all I know that was a stipulation on Brady’s part to return from retirement. If so, I would make that same bone head move a hundred times over.

  55. Francisco Guzman Says:

SC Bucs fan he’s missing 6 games at best. Not 8. Anyway i think it’s essential to brink gronk back.

  56. Bucamania Says:

Defense will be fine. You just can’t stop offenses in today’s NFL. Heck, the best corner in the game (Ramsey) gets beat all the time. You do need a pass rush though.

Top offense and a pass rush.

  57. BA4President Says:

How did Licht pull this off, like really?

  58. Hodad Says:

I don’t understand the cap. We had many one year deals like Suh for about 10 million a year. We were paying JPP about the same amount. So with two players not making their 20 mill, and no dead money from them on the cap, shouldn’t we have 20 mill in new cap space?

  59. David Says:

    WOW

    Cappa left and they upgraded!
To me, Cappa was the weakest link on the O line. He was still good though.
The fact that he’s played with Brady is a big bonus.
His cap hit is less than Cappa also.

    Go team LICHT!!!!

  60. JimmyJack Says:

Great move. 4 solid vets running the OL now. Stinne and Hainsey fighting for the last spot. Im sure they will add some good competition too.

Now get back Leonard and Gronk and this offense is ready to go.

  61. Austin Says:

Trade up and get Davis to pair by Vita

  62. Cobraboy Says:

    The GOAT is pleased.

  63. catcard202 Says:

Austin… I’m on that boat with you.
    Vea/Davis pairing would be sick!!!

  64. Todd Says:

Every time I have a mock draft that I feel great about, Licht makes news!

Off to my next one. Yeah, pass rush now!!!

  65. HC Grover Says:

@ Buczilla…trade him this is not a drill. This is a championship run and we has to get out of the gate fast and on the rail to Souper Bowl. We are not rebuilding. GOAT is in the house. We can not wait 6 or 8 games for him to try to get back to playing shape. We want to be 8 and 0 right off the mark. Man the battle stations.

    LFG

  66. JimmyJack Says:

Hodad Suh and JPP were paid by the Bucs last year but the Bucs did some fancy CAP trick where that money doesnt count til this year. Its called “dead cap” and both players are on the dead cap list for this year for a lot of money.

The good news is we can sign them back for one year and do the same fancy trick. Pay them more now, it wont cost CAP money now but we take dead cap pentalty next year.

  67. Cobraboy Says:

Look for an extension with a cap-friendly 2022.

  68. JimmyJack Says:

Also Gronk is a dead cap pentalty this year. So we can basically sign him for very little CAP money. But we take dead pentaly next year.

  69. Bucamania Says:

Pats fans are losing their minds on Twitter about trading Shaq Mason for a 5th! LOL

  70. Alstott up the gut Says:

I like that the moves the Bucs are making are not pigeonholing them into a need draft position. I do like letting the draft come to us!

  71. D-Rok Says:

Outstanding move. Mason is good at pass pro and a road-grader in run game. Our O-line just got significantly better, IMO. Our offense might be borderline unstoppable with the O-line we currently have. Here I was upset losing Marpet and Cappa, but now….I’m ecstatic with this addition. Kudos, Mr Licht!

    GO BUCS!!

  72. Anonymous Says:

Just don’t hope we draft for special teams this yr and we draft impact guys.

  73. Ash Says:

Didnt think Godwin was projected to miss any games

  74. Allbuccedup Says:

    Good pickup/trade!

  75. CalBucsFan Says:

Another nice move for GM Licht, keep up the good work Jason!

  76. Saskbuco Says:

@Tampabaybucfan I would agree Succop and Pinion are gone for sure, @yucstobucs That was a really good singing for Gage he put 130 yards on us remember? He missed games and had 770 yards and 4 TD, he’s a great fit for 3 WR, great signing. If he doesn’t get hurt he’s probably over 1000 yards. WR Depth came back to bite us last year. Who cares how much they have to pay him, that’s right in line with Tyler Boyd, Will Fuller etc.

I bet we take a long hard look at WR in round 1 as well, Olave, Dotson or one I really like is Christian Watson (most would say not in 1st round, but I disagree)

Round 2-3 get a RB, Breece Hall, Kenneth Walker, Isaiah Spiller, James Cook, Rachaad White

Shaq is a great trade as well, cheaper than Cappa and has term left. if he was a FA right now he would be 12 million plus, would def be paid more than Cappa. Let’s enjoy this and worry about all this dead money later, we had voidable years anyways so if Gronk comes back, their paying him already.

Licht is doing a masterful job, he really is, enjoy this ride.

  77. Allbuccedup Says:

Rob in land o lakes Lichts got it.

  78. Jeffbuc Says:

I hope we trade down like we did when we got vita. Get and extra second and third. Because the draft is a crap shoot. We drafted mj Stewart before Carlton Davis. Could have drafted the corner that’s in Carolina instead of Stewart. And had him and Davis. And smb and dean as 3rd and 4th cb. I really want to trade back and get more picks. Licht besides Stewart and aguayo is money in the second and 3rd round.

  79. Buczilla Says:

Wow, just read that Randy Gregory signed with Denver for $70 million over 5 years with 28 guaranteed. Dallas supposedly offered the same deal, but Gregory turned them down even after Dallas put up with his drug issues for years. Lol, I know that Jerry is an idiot (great businessman) gm, but that’s cold man. Teams are losing their minds even more than normal this year and even Carlton’s deal looks like a stroke of genius compared to this.

  80. HC Grover Says:

@JimmyJack…JPP is hard as nine inch nails. He will prolly be back bettah than evah.

  81. Bird Says:

    Francisco

You are nuts. Mason is not better then marpet. Marpet is the best guard bucs ever had

Now. He is better then cappa.

Who cares what grade he got from pff. Marpet didnt give up a sack for like two years.

  82. Allbuccedup Says:

Glad to see Licht doing some three year deals.

  83. D-Rok Says:

I can just see Mason as the pulling guard leading Lenny’s sweeps, crushing some vertebrae along the way. At least, I hope it will be Lenny!

  84. Steven007 Says:

Zilla, I heard Dallas tried to do Gregory dirty by changing his contract terms at the last minute. Apparently this was attempted by Jerry’s son. That’s when he flipped for Denver.

  85. SKBucsFan Says:

Very good move. Not sure you find too many capable starters in the 5th round. Gives us a player for a couple more years

  86. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

This is a awesome move by Licht. Mason is a solid Guard, and for only a 5th round pick!

  87. TAMPA BAY DEMON Says:

Jason is seriously killing it. He has become such a solid GM.

Shaq started with Tom for 5 years in New England. Cool to have him here now.

  88. TAMPA BAY DEMON Says:

Let’s get Gronk aboard now. Sooner than later please.

And hoping Lenny is still possible too.

  89. Defense Rules Says:

Joe … ‘Of course, under the mentality of the Carlton Davis haters, Mason is brittle and should be cut.’

You just can’t help yourself, can you Joe. ‘Haters’? Really? Kind of a strong word. Is that the label that’s in vogue at JBF World HQ for folks who disagree with you now? From what I’ve been able to read, almost everyone who was critical of the Davis re-signing focused on the Bucs paying $15 mil a year for a player with 80% availability. Beyond that though, comparing an OLineman who misses 10 games in 8 years (1.25 games/year missed) with a CB who misses 14 games in 4 years (3.5 games/year missed) doesn’t seem like a valid comparison.

More to the point though, very impressed with the Shaq Mason signing. Seems to be very durable (averaged 950 offensive snaps/season over his 7-year career) and very few penalties (roughly 2 penalties/year average). Has started slightly over 95% of the games he dressed for since he was drafted, almost all of that at RG. Sounds like we found our Cappa replacement.

  90. YucstoBucs Says:

As long as Shaq passes the physical and is heathy then what a trade, bud the Justin Gage signing is leaving me confused? Not even a top 100 and played while Julio and Calvin Pete Rose were gone and only had 700 yards and 4 tuddies gets 3 years 30 million ( 20 guaranteed ) either CG won’t play with the tag or worse his injury and recovery isn’t going well ? I hope and pray I’m wrong, but that signing doesn’t make sense ( Grayson, Miller, Johnson )

  91. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The only surprise move for me so far is the Russell Gage deal…..simply didn’t see that coming…..a WR after franchising Godwin…..Jensen & Davis make sense….needs…..Mason makes sense….but Gage….a luxury, perhaps….

Love the pickup…..Neighbor his a huge Falcons fan….he is shocked they couldn’t keep him….they have no WRs……Atlanta fans are saying he wanted to play with Brady & go for a ring….

  92. tampabayallday Says:

    wow

  93. YucstoBucs Says:

Sorry Russel, but no CB or D lineman ? Could have used that 30 million on a major need, but just makes me question Chris Godwins status

  94. YucstoBucs Says:

@tampabatbucsfan because they didn’t think he was worth 10 million? Plus Calvin Rose probably is done with football and if they thought he was that good then wouldn’t they offer this Gage guy a nice bag? Concerned about Godwin

  95. sasquatch Says:

There has to be a reason they gave him away for only a 5th round pick. Maybe he’s beat up and breaking down. As long as we can get one year of service out of him, I’m okay with it. Get him on TB12 and he’ll be steamrolling guys when he’s 40. 🤣 Seems like a steal on the face of it.

  96. YucstoBucs Says:

Definitely worth the 5 round pick as long as he passes the physical and doesn’t have any major injuries, but almost seems too good to be true ? I just wish that 30 million would have went to a Defensive Lineman or CB

  97. Francisco Guzman Says:

YucstoBucs no way godwin is dealt unless they get a first rounder then maybe i can see it.

  98. Adrnagy Says:

With this trade , i wanna see how licht & co will trim around -$38m in cap

  99. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I am quite sure when Cappa said bye, bye….Brady told Licht to go get Mason…..you can best believe that Mason is solid…..Brady still has strong connections to NE….

  100. D-Rok Says:

Guys, let’s make the offense a juggernaut, which it’s looking it could be with what we have now. Score more points, remember? And let’s hope the D can be upgraded…and if it is? O my gosh, we have a killer team. Continue to work, Mr. Licht! Defense is next, mehopes.

  101. Francisco Guzman Says:

Adrnagy there’s lots of ways. Remember they had 2 million plus the 10 million from the Cappa retirement

  102. Francisco Guzman Says:

    The marpet retirement.

  103. Tampabaybucfan Says:

    YucstoBucs Says:

@tampabatbucsfan because they didn’t think he was worth 10 million? Plus Calvin Rose probably is done with football and if they thought he was that good then wouldn’t they offer this Gage guy a nice bag? Concerned about Godwin

It’s probably because the Falcons have no clue what they are doing and Licht does…..no way we are spending that much for a WR without Brady rhyming in on it……I’m quite sure he’s worth the $10 mil…..

  104. Cobraboy Says:

@TBBF: Gage, because most likely the team has little confidence in what they have at #3 WR.

  105. YucstoBucs Says:

@Francisco I hope the injury and recovery are going as planned because Gage wasn’t even in the top 125 FAs and to pay him almost like a number 2 is concerning when that 30 million could have been spent on other positions. 700 yards and 4 TDs, but just hoping everything is ok with CG

  106. HC Grover Says:

Attn Buc Fans…this is not a rebuild…..We are in a championship run Right Here, Right Now, You Buc Soul Brothers. We are favored to win NFC and make the Souper Bowl. NOW IS THE TIME!….not the 6th or 8th game. 1st game out of the box on the rail for the WIN!

  107. Keith Says:

None of this matters if we don’t have a RB

  108. Scotty in Fat Antonio Says:

From what I have read, Cage has gotten better each year he has been in the NFL. He really came on in the last half of last season for the fowlclowns. Smart move by Licht.

  109. SOEbuc Says:

Agree with many talking about trading back. DT and CB in the second. Dean sucks and him and SMB have no reason not to be challenged for starting CB.

  110. matthew lorence Says:

Joe where did this cash come from ? After we tagged Godwin you said we had 3 mill no cap
Cuts are coming, along with restructures, to make room before the 4 p.m. deadline tomorrow. –Joe

  111. BradyBucs Says:

    THE BEST PART…

We’re basically trading the compensatory 5th rounder we’ll get for losing Cappa for this guy who may be even better.

  112. JimmyJack Says:

I would like fans to take note of these moves the past 2 days. 4 major signings/trade. Jensen, Davis, Gage, Mason.

2 days ago the BS narritive was the the Bucs had 6M worth of CAP to spend. So please dont ever say we can or cant or cant afford a player ever again. The last two years proove so.

We can bassically afford whoever we want and the numbers they show on the CAP websites yall use mean pretty much next to nothing.

Oh and by the way. Leonad. Gronk, Suh, Gholston and a couple backups will be signing up shortly. Yeah, 6M my a$$.

  113. Oxycodoms Says:

Last season showed you need 3 wr especially with godwins injury when will he back to his old self. Can you get an impact dlineman late in first round? I could see rb being drafted at that spot

  114. SOEbuc Says:

Resign Gio on a one year deal and a RB in the third.

  115. Havingfitz Says:

I’m a Bucs fan living near Boston. Local sports stations are not happy to see Mason go for only a 5th. And to the Bucs. Good move to address recent OL losses.

  116. Buccaneer Bonzai Says:

    Marpet. Marpet. Marpet. Marpet.

If I say it enough times, maybe he’ll play obe more year for us…

  117. Canabuc Says:

We should go after Eddie Goldman. DT that fits a need
Frree agent not too old very good and won’t cost us a compensatory oick

  118. Francisco Guzman Says:

I would like to bring JPP back. He was pretty good in 2020 when he was healthy. Guy played with a torn rotator cuff. Very difficult.

  119. Alstott up the gut Says:

I hate to say this because I really love and value the guy, but after the update to this article, how can Cam Brate and his contract, still exist on this team? That contract has to just be signed over Fournette.

  120. Francisco Guzman Says:

Canabuc I rather go for akiem hicks.

  121. Canabuc Says:

Gage in 8 games as starter was on a pace for nearly 1200 yards receiving over a 16 game season. 6 feet tall and 4.42 speed. Perfect wr3 and will be the 2 until Godwin is fully recovered. Only 26 years old. Love the pick up.

  122. HC Grover Says:

It will just get bettah from here.

  123. CarolinaBuc Says:

CG is gone for sure. Trade him for picks and grab Jarvis WR and depth in the draft. CG coming back injured is a tall order for a team with a tight window. Brady makes all WR look good and maximizing CG is the right move for 2022.

  124. Francisco Guzman Says:

CarolinaBuc they’re not getting rid of godwin unless they get a first rounder.

  125. GOB Says:

Shaq can be up and down. He’s really struggled to put consecutive solid seasons together. He was a turnstile at guard two years ago, but that was with the illustrious cam Newton behind center. All and all a good move. Go BUCS

  126. Francisco Guzman Says:

GOB what the heck you talking about? He was rated the fourth best guard this past season.

  127. Coburn Says:

I’ve seen a couple threads on pats Reddit with distraught fans about this. Seems they all think pretty highly of him and shocked at how low the compensation was… Seems they are really tight against cap and it’s only reason they can come up with.. and yet it’s less than what cappa just got. I’m liking the sounds of it

  128. August 1976 Buc Says:

Gage was signed because they want more speed, and a player that most likely is better than what the Bucs have now after 1 Mike and 2 Chris, (BTW who will miss the beginning of the season)
Good to see Mason, a solid guard signed.
Ok get Robbie G signed, and help out the Defense somehow with more GOATonomics by Greenberg.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

BTW from the Pats Hometown Newspaper, the Boston Herald “Mason, 28, had started double-digit games for the Patriots every year since he entered the league as a fourth-round pick in 2015. He finished last season as one of their top-performing offensive players and ranks among the best guards in the league”.

So yeah if he just continues to do the same, just a tad above Meh, huh List…. lololol

  131. steele Says:

Another good signing! Shaq and Brady worked well together. Knock on Shaq was that he was undersized. But he makes up for it in many ways.

    Good work!

Chris can make plays after the catch. Mike is lost in space
after the catch. Literally! Facts and Stats don’t lie.

    @Sh!tlist the Two Faced Fan

    YOU ARE A JOKE @Sh!tlist.

You are liar who says that they played ball.

You are a Two Faced Fan. You can’t be a fan of two teams. As the late great Big Dog said on 620 WDAE, you are a lying stinking rat.

Pro Football Focus has Shaq Mason graded as one of the highest graded guards in the league with an 85.2 out of 100, giving up only 1 sack and only getting 4 penalties.

Your “ehh” comment about Shaq Mason shows how ignorant you are about football.

You’re not a Bucs Fan. Bucs Fan’s don’t like you. Take the hint from numerous other Bucs fans calling you a joke and LEAVE.

    1. CG is better than ME between the 20’s and:
    2. ME is better than CG at getting the ball in the end zone.

Facts don’t lie about ME and TD’s.

Like having them both for those reasons.

  136. August 1976 Buc Says:

But Bell G, you are living rent free in ol Sh!tty List’s head, lololol And Sh!tList has no where else to go, because TB12 is playing for the Bucs and not his beloved Pats.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  137. BelleGladeBuc Says:

PFF graded Alex Cappa at a 74.2 out of 100.

PFF graded Shaq Mason at a 85.2 out of 100.

    85.2 > 74.2

    Shaq > Cappa

    PFF > @ Sh!tlist

Totally agree, but the thing with Godwin has been injuries, so many lost games by Godwin. Mike has been more durable by far. Even though, so many times you see Mike get up after a catch, and he looks in some kind of pain, Mike just keeps on keepin on. Your greatest ability is your AVAIL-ability, which is a huge reason Mike has 8 straight 1000 yard seasons, from Rookie in 2014 until now.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

Who is it easier for an offensive lineman to block for @Sh!tlist, a rookie QB in Mac Jones or the GOAT in TB12?

  140. geno711 Says:

    @August

Agree. The dislike for ME from some fans on this site is just amazing to me.
The 2014 draft of wide receivers was considered possibly the best of all time and because of his durability, Mike is the best of them all.

Mike has a chance in his career to retire top 10 in receiving TD’s and top 20 in receiving yards.

  141. BelleGladeBuc Says:

    Agree with you @August

Between the 20’s CG is a chain mover.

In the red zone on a post corner fade/flag route ME13 is almost unstoppable.

I haven’t had to scroll through that many post since we were crying about masks and such. LFG Tampa

  143. Defense Rules Says:

JimmyJack … There’s a LOT teams can do to create salary CAP space in any given year by restructuring contracts & pushing things like ‘bonuses’ down the road. Short of releasing or trading players though the ‘cost’ eventually comes due when you use that approach. We’re doing exactly what the Rams did to go ‘all-in’ last season & compete for the SB.

Personally I’d do exactly the same thing if I were in JL’s shoes AND had Tom Brady come out of retirement for 1 more year with us. Go for the ring. But the ‘cost’ will likely end up being similar to what we went through to land Chucky. We paid for it for many years after that SB victory. But danged it was a sweet victory.

  144. August 1976 Buc Says:

I agree also DR, but you realize you right there with your good friend Rod Munch on this lolololol

But again, so few teams ever actually win a championship, when you can, you go for it. Even at the expense of the near future.
TB12 is here, ALL IN AGAIN

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  145. Defense Rules Says:

August 1976 Buc … ‘the thing with Godwin has been injuries, so many lost games by Godwin’.

Personally I think that Godwin’s injuries are a bit overblown. His first 2 years (with Jameis as his QB) he missed ZERO games. His 3rd year (1st year with BA but still with Jameis) he missed 2 games, but had his best season (1333 yds).

These last 2 seasons have been brutal for him; he missed 4 games in 2020 & 3 games in 2021. Still he’s played in 72 of 81 games in those 5 seasons (88.9% availability) and has taken some brutal hits these last 2 years.

Personally I think a large part of that is because of his changed role in our offense. He’s averaged a lot more snaps under BA than he did under Dirk, and a lot of those additional snaps have been blocking. It’s bound to take a toll.

  146. JimmyJack Says:

Defense Rules i dont see us going through what hapoened post 2002 with Gruden. First off this staff is superior. Gruden didnt even have a staff for defense. He melded his offense with our defense and it didnt work out longterm.

He also ran off his GM and thats not happening here. And the biggest factor for me is this staff and GM is winning with their handpicked players as our core. Gruden didnt, he won with somebody elses core players.

Dont get me wrong we will have to pay a price for going all in(already seeing it with Whitehead)…..but i think we can be competitive after Brady while keeping many young core players we can retool/rebuild with…..White, Wirfs, Godwin, Winfield, Vea, Davis ect.

  147. Buczilla Says:

    @Steven007

Oh damn, then he was in the right. Thanks man.

  148. adam from ny Says:

this looks like a hella good move man!

after us always giving up the bestest of the best to the pats for many years for nearly nothing, it’s coming full circle and we’re getting things back…finally…

before the move was done licht must have jumped on a phone call with tom and said:

    “tommy is this your guy?”

    obviously he is TB12 approved

    nice!

  149. Rod Munch Says:

All indications are that this is a pretty nice upgrade over Cappa. Pretty nice pickup by Licht, but you do wonder what’s wrong with him that the Pats let him go for so cheap.
