Steelers Trying To Poach Bucs’ Suit?

February 12th, 2022

Pittsburgh calling.

The Steelers will have an opening for a general manager in a matter of months. And it appears they want to talk to a Bucs big shot for possibly filling that soon-to-be hole.

Long-time Steelers general manager Kevin Colbert is retiring. He plans to step away after the 2022 draft. However, the Steelers are not dragging their feet looking for his successor. And Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports the Steelers are looking to interview Bucs vice president of player personnel John Spytek.

As you can imagine, the Steelers are not just interviewing Spytek. They have already interviewed former NFL player personnel director and current BSPN talking head Louis Riddick.

Spytek is a right-hand man of Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht. He’s been with the Bucs since 2016.

Hey Rands – there are loads of cretins who post here that lack sense of humor or at least sarcasm detector!

Spytek already interviewed for the same with the Vikings in January. The Raiders have also asked for an interview.

    He is all but gone.

I’m just here to say Ronde Barber got shafted again.

  8. Leighroy Says:

That article a week ago about how no other NFL teams were poaching the Bucs coaching staff or front office didn’t age well huh? First Mike Caldwell, now Spytek. Careful what you wish for!

  9. #1bucsfan Says:

Ronde did get shafted. Makes me so mad when people say he was system player. Straight B.S. thank you IRA for trying. Maybe next year.

  10. Allen Lofton Says:

Do you job well, opportunities present themselves for the coming and the going.

  11. allbuccedup Says:

If he leaves do we get a draft pick?

  12. John Herb Says:

Colbert is leaving AFTER the draft. Who in the He!! would want to take that job and be responsible for draft picks you didn’t make???

  13. gp Says:

Would be a shame to see Spytek go.
From everything I’ve read here, the premier, go to site for everything bucs, he is an integral cog in the machine that has built a winning franchise.
Losing too many pieces can cause a move back to the den. Don’t want to see that!

    ___________

Carl Nassib gets shafted on a daily basis.
How do you feel about that?

  15. William Genovese Says:

I’ve got no clue whether John Spytek is good at his job or whether we will dearly miss him if he moves on.

Seems our front office is solid but not spectacular.

  16. Swampbuc Says:

    Doosh…….

    Bwaaaahaaaahahahaaaaa.

  17. David Says:

I’m pretty sure Joe has written about him before. That would be a pretty big loss. We all talk about Jason Licht but really it’s him and the team around him and this guy has been a major part of signing players that lead to a Super Bowl team.

  18. DoooshLaRue Says:

You’d think with the last name Spytek that the Belicheats would’ve all over him.

  19. Pewter Power Says:

Best landing spot for owner and gm Rooney is extremely patient.

Losing him will not be a good thing for us!
