Russell Wilson To Stay In Seattle — “100 Percent”

February 18th, 2022

A Seattle icon says Russell Wilson isn’t leaving.

Yes, the rumors are out there that Russell Wilson is available in a trade.

But a Seattle insider well known to Bucs fans says it’s “100 percent” not happening.

For many years, John Clayton, “The Professor,” was a major and respected NFL reporter for ESPN TV. Based in Seattle, Clayton remains on ESPN sports radio and is extraordinarily well plugged in when it comes to the Seahawks.

This week as a guest on CBS Sports Radio, Clayton said Wilson will “100 percent” return to Seattle this season and the rumors just aren’t reality in any way.

Today, the Seahawks shelled out a $5 million roster bonus to Wilson, Clayton noted, so now his salary cap number for this season is $37 million and Seattle would flush $31 million in dead cap money if Wilson was traded.

And then there’s the matter of Wilson’s desire, as Joe noted previously. Clayton said it feels like Wilson is being ignored, as Wilson has said multiple times publicly that he wants to stay and play in Seattle.

Maybe there’s a dramatic deal Seattle would accept for Wilson, but Joe could never question Clayton when it comes to matters of the Seahawks.

Why is Joe writing about this? Because the Bucs need a quarterback, unless you believe Tom Brady has changed his mind about retiring and is just waiting for the right moment to tell his wife.

And Green Bay just hired A. Rodgers fav QB coach.

So now we can stop with the silly Wilson/Rodgers BS…

Our only hope is if TB12 decides in June to return to the Bucs for one more season.

Other than that it will be Gabbert/Trask.

You know, Joe, we should see the light. Being neutral about Kyle is the equivalent of being a hater. Look at all that success he had in college! Those successes always translate to the pro game. Why I can’t think of one QB who was great in college that flamed out in the pros. Let’s just anoint Kyle and get on with it. Watching every game he played as a Gator isn’t enough. You have to trust him! As Jason and Bruce should

Fake News. Isn’t that what y’all say when reputable and seasoned reporters drop info? Unless it’s something y’all don’t agree with. The report makes sense, and Ben has mad respect for JC. Have fun with Arians and Trask. Get ready to retake y’all’s throne as loser ville.

  4. Pryda...Sec147 Says:

Anything is possible , no one thought we would have Brady the Goat be our QB and look at us now. Wilson to TB is possible.

  5. Swampbuc Says:

Bqueen – who is this “y’all” you keep speaking of. Are you in another “y’all” grouping? The one that takes no accountability for anything? That’s right you’ve got the San Diego buddy! Red pen, infuriated Brady, all that.

    Bqueen, “y’all” are hilarious!

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

We should give Trask a shot….Oh wait, we can’t do that because he hasn’t thrown a pass in a NFL regular season game yet…..my bad!!!

  7. Bellingham Bucs Fan Says:

Bqueen, why are you still here? It’s kinda pathetic.

  8. Swampbuc Says:

Bellingham, let’s not have Bqueen leave yet, we’re hoping he unveils his secret sources of scoop, like this irregular San Diego pal with the red pen story! I mean, he’s spending all this time here, it must be a promotional effort, wouldn’t you think? ROTFL!

  9. ChiBuc Says:

Dang Swamp, you trolling these waters like a hungry catfish. You don’t gotta bite at everything man. Pace yourself, it’s a long offseason

    @Bqen green

There are currently 32 teams in the NFL.

Of those 32 teams, The Tampa Bay Bucs are a two time Super Bowl Winning Franchise.

Only 9 out of 32 NFL franchises have more Super Bowl Victories than the Tampa Bay Bucs.

5 out of 32 NFL franchises have the same amount of Super Bowl Victories as the Tampa Bay Bucs.

5 out of 32 NFL franchises have only 1 Super Bowl Victory, and thus less than the Tampa Bay Bucs.

12 out of 32 NFL franchises have ZERO Super Bowl Victories, and thus less than the Tampa Bay Bucs.

That means that the Tampa Bay Bucs are a more successful franchise in the NFL than 17 out of 32 teams.

You sound ignorant when you call the Bucs a losing franchise when the undisputed facts state that the Tampa Bay Bucs are more successful than 53% of ALL of the NFL teams.

  11. Buczilla Says:

It’s fun as all hell to think about what Wilson could do here, but it’s not realistic.

  12. Buc4evr Says:

Wentz, Bridgewater, Gabbert or Trask. I don’t see the Bucs taking a chance on Watson. JimmyG, Wilson and Rodgers are staying put.

  13. sasquatch Says:

    $37 million
That’s a whole lot of reasons the Bucs aren’t trading for Wilson. Right now, they have 3 million available and that’s before signing Godwin, Jensen, Davis or anyone else. There are ways of manipulating the cap, but clearing 37 million in addition to the pain of giving up draft picks just isn’t happening.
