LeGarrette Blount Talks Tom Brady Retirement & Justin Bieber

February 11th, 2022

LeGarrette Blount says talks weekly with Tom Brady.

The Lost Decade of Buccaneers football had Joe watching a lot of New England games.

Why? Because so many cool and talented former Bucs were on the field for the Belicheats, from Aqib Talib to LeGarrette Blount and Darrelle Revis, and more.

The Tom Brady-Tim Wright marriage intrigued Joe, and good guy ex-Bucs linebacker Jonathan Casillas got himself a ring with Brady, too. And there were others.

So Joe was very interested to hear Blount chatting on CBS Sports Radio this week from “Radio Row” at the Super Bowl.

Three-time Super Bowl champion Blount said he’s close with Brady and the two talk “probably like weekly.” Yes, weekly.

Brady’s decision to retire surprised Blount, he explained, largely because Brady is so off-the-charts competitive that Blount never figured Brady would retire on a loss when he’s playing so well and leading the league in passing.

Blount repeated how surprised he was but wasn’t biting on a Brady return.

“I’ve heard that a bunch of times. You know, I’ve heard a bunch of people say, ‘Never say never.’ I mean, Justin Bieber made a song about it,” Blount said.

“I highly doubt that he’ll be back. I really highly doubt that he’ll be back because I feel like he’s been in this position a bunch of times where people are speculating his retirement and he doesn’t. I think once he does it, he does it.”

Interestingly, Blount referenced how happy he is that Brady will get to spend more time with his senior citizen parents. Often, the media narrative is all about Brady spending more time with his kids and wife.

Joe always enjoys hearing Blount, who evolved into a fantastic interview over the years.

Blount was one of our better RB’s in those lost years … should’ve never let him leave

And the hits just keep on coming…..LaGarrette Blount…..who’s next….Aaron Hernandez….oh wait!!!

  3. 87bucsfan Says:

They let Blount leave because he wasn’t much of a pass catcher, kinda like Ronald Jones.

  4. August 1976 Buc Says:

LaGarrette should never have been traded by Schiano.
Blount is simply one of the best RB’s in the history of the Bucs.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

Funny how all these guys won when they went to NE. Hmm spend more time with his parents? His mom beat cancer and his dad is old as dirt (a year younger than BA), let me think, isn’t there a pretty good NFL team located not far from his parents house in the SF Bay area?

Remember when LB knocked that dude out from Boise State?

    That was epic…

  7. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Coach Schiano traded Blount to his buddy at the Patriots.
We should have never let him go

Watching blunt brought back memories of the A-train. Both bruising backs. Was fun watching him play especially the Green Bay game when we wore the creamsicles

  9. Winny Testaverde Says:

Chris is right…Schiano hand delivered both Blount & Talib to The Pats. I guess in a round about way of payback…Bill inadvertently hand delivered both Brady & Gronk over to the Bucs.

One of the few bright spots during his tenure with Tampa. Also watching him lay out that kid in college was one of my favorite Blount moments now and forever.

  11. Seattle Buc is back in TB Says:

Traded this guy for Jeff Demps. What a joke! Lost decade indeed.

Sure glad Schiamoron decided Blount wasn’t a “Buccaneer Man” and got rid of him. What a disaster that imbecile was.

    Thanks Mark Dumbanik, Mr. 28-52.
