Gronk Says His Future Is Unclear But He Expects Tom Brady Will Play Again

February 12th, 2022

Joe found this especially interesting because Rob Gronkowski typically tells people who ask him questions about Tom Brady’s life to, ‘Ask Tom.’

Gronk was fired up for the latest Flo Rida concert before the Super Bowl, so he told USA Today, and he also was upbeat about Tom Brady playing quarterback again.

“The guy can play at any age,’’ Gronkowski said of Brady. “If he’s 50 years old he can still come back. I think he’s going to come back but in a couple of years. The guy’s a beast. He can play anytime.’’

The Bucs hold Brady’s NFL rights.

Perhaps the best news is that Gronk has yet to retire and he noted he’s letting everything related to free agency and his future play out.

If Gronk plays next season, Joe thinks it’s either the Bucs or his hometown Buffalo Bills. Another year of football life would be very easy for him under Bucco Bruce Arians, but being in Buffalo would put him with an elite quarterback and fulfill a childhood dream.

It was great while it lasted.

  2. Listnfrmafar Says:

Let’s see, Gronk goes from warm weather and sandy beaches with a HOT swim suit model girlfriend to a freezing cold, frozen lake, tundra, with women that have more hair on them than Vita Vea, doubt it, plus ya think his woman wants to go there? That city STINKS!

  3. Ed Kerber Says:

They go as a package to the 49ers. Bucs fill some holes by trading their rights.

  4. Listnfrmafar Says:

Bucs don’t own Gronks rights, he is a FA.

  5. gp Says:

If Gronk moves to another team (other than Buffalo), that’s likely the team that TB12 is also looking at for a return, IF he returns.
Might be worth a little extra to keep Gronk right here!

  6. Tampabaybucfan Says:

The saga stays alive……Just what Tom wants…

  7. ChiBuc Says:

All of this seesawing speculation about Brady’s “return” sure is tarnishing his legacy. Friends, media, and TB are painting a picture of an indecisive hesitant primodonna. Drop the mic and walk away Tom or fulfill your contract, get off your passive aggressive self promotional fence… this $h!t is getting old.

  8. ChiBuc Says:

He is the goat without a doubt, but I’m back to hating the guy just like I did before he was a buc. Without the jolly Roger on his dome, he’s dead to me

  9. crazyBucs_CL Says:

Hopefully after the big mess/disappointment DC Tooddd and BA did to Bucs nation by making TB12 go away, Glazers and JL understand that all money they have available SHOULD be put in O. D is NOT going to win us anything with this coaching staff… so bring back:
CG;RG;LF;AC;RJ and a good #3 WR; draft RB.
Trask my have a better chance to start strong, and/or any IF(i doubt it will), come back.
If you still have any money left back, donate them to charities.

  10. Bojim Says:

Tom doesn’t need to ‘return’ to football, if he’s going to play, he needs to keep his routine at his age.

  11. Pewter Power Says:

Just wait two months and take a photo of Brady to compare to now, if he’s retired he’ll look it

  12. Demete Says:

Listnfrmafar, if ignorance is bliss, you must be freaken ecstatic. You have no clue what a great town that is. It sucks so much that his family still lives there. Do us all a favor and listen from further than afar!

    What ChiBuc said

  14. Shark Coast Tactical Says:

Look I LOVE Brady and Gronk. Love them. Believe in them. But…how many balls did Gronk drop? How many missed assignments? When he was on he was on but..it’s tine to move on from him..Brady? He left and it doesn’t matter why. I naturally assume the worst. But, he wasn’t that good any more either. He was still Brady but he quit, we need to move on. Call me crazy but I think we should develop Trask. His college film is stellar. If not move on. Brady has turned into the hot chic who doesn’t want us anymore. Move on fellas, plenty more out there.

I guess some like BucGypsy are with you.

For me and maybe others, I am not with your sentiments. Everything he did for the Bucs, I will never dislike this man unless he is part of some violent crime, etc.

  16. Jerry Says:

If he REALLY wanted to play again some day for another team, his best move should have been to just play out 2022. Then after that he’d be a free agent to go wherever he wanted, whenever he wanted. But because he retired with time on the contract, the Bucs hold the rights. If he ever wants to return, that new team would have to compensate the Bucs.

Maybe some team some day is willing to just toss a draft pick for a Brady return. But it does add a wrinkle.

  17. Rod Munch Says:

Tommy’s wife made him retire, he didn’t want to. If the Bucs want Brady back, they’d be best to go visit Mons and send down to Miami a homewrecker, then Tom, who was underpaid for decades, would need that check to pay his alimony.

  18. BillyBucco Says:

Brady will either play for the Bucs in 2022 or be retired.
SF or any other team would have to give up draft picks and players.

Tom Brady will cost way less post June when we can lower his dead cap hit from like 24 to 12 million.

Question is will Tampa roll with Trask and put the money toward the team in hopes of Brady coming back, or put that money towards a trade or pick up a contender QB knowing if Tom does play it will be elsewhere.

  19. Im not tired anymore we Super Bowl Champs!! Says:

Look at all these people talking smack about Brady when he just won us a Super Bowl. Oh and him and Gronk aren’t that good? Seriously you are delusional. I’m a season ticket holder and would do anything to have them both back. I’m assuming you guys are just trolls coming on a Bucs website to act like Bucs fans don’t want them. Get out of here!!! Go Bucs!

  20. Allen Lofton Says:

I don’t understand the talk of TB coming back to play again. WHY- his wife and kids are happy, and TB can devote more time his other endeavors.

  21. Allen Lofton Says:

There’s more to life than Football.

  22. Winny Testaverde Says:

Joe seems to hold out false hope that Gronk is still in play for the Bucs. I’d say those chances are Slim and None and Slim just filed for free agency.

The waiting game begins…post June 1st things will heat up literally and figuratively…Brady will force the issue. Scott Zolak…who is basically a hack…did make an interesting and feasible proposal…trade Brady’s rights for Jimmy G-String. It could happen…Brady has the power here despite the Bucs owning his “rights”. Gonna get hectic…never seen a fella more reluctant to announce his retirement…while playing at a MVP level and perfectly healthy.

  23. Cleanhouse Says:

We suck without Brady- I think the coaching staff is incompetent and sloppy.

  24. Bqen green Says:

Part of the reason gronk became rejuvenated, was the warm weather. Those old bones (old in NFL terms) will get creaky again in cold weather. Ben loves gronk as much as the next guy, but part of his successful comeback was because of Brady. They could almost read minds out there. Learning a new QB, and a new system will take time. Gronk isn’t exactly Alfred Einstein, although he’s an incredibly smart football player. Still, it will take time. Not sure if Gronk is willing to do that. You can’t throw him hospital balls either, he ain’t running seam routes anymore, which further deminishes his value.

  25. bucsfaninOregon Says:

Anybody on this site that thinks there is a good alternative for TB is CRAAAZY! If he comes back in the spring we are in for another great year. Any other QB iteration imagined here will be a lost season- -again.

Nobody likes to be in the backseat when critical decisions are made, but that’s where we are. Hope that Tom get bored about May and graces us again with his presence.

Looking at this last sentence, I don’t think I would be able to write the same for any human in any circumstance other than TB and the BUCS. That’s how good he is.

  26. T REX Says:

Gisele would be paying Tom alimony she’s worth TWICE what he is right now.

But I’m sure they have some kind of nuptial agreement.

  27. David Says:

It seems like Gronk and maybe Jensen Cappa Godwin Davis etc. might all be waiting to see how it plays out. It’s kind of a catch 22. Going after a big quarterback via trade or free agency might not happen unless the quarterback sees a lot of these guys signing but these guys nay not want to sign unless they see who the QB is going to be.

As for Gronk, I totally understand that it depends on the QB coming to Tampa but if he is only playing 1-2 more years, I completely understand if he goes to Buffalo. Potential Super Bowl winning team in his hometown, who wouldn’t like that

  28. steele Says:

It doesn’t matter what Gronk THINKS. Until words or actions are from Brady himself, it’s all speculation and hot air.

The entire “coming back in a few years” idea is more wishful thinking and a stretch. Age is age, even for someone who maintains himself the way TB does.
The prep required to play—practices, games, seasons—is hellacious.

What would be the point? For Brady to be Bernard Hopkins?

  29. Volbuc40 Says:

That tells me he has no idea if Brady will play again. Otherwise he would say “Ask Tom”!

  30. Allen Lofton Says:

I can envision TB back in the NFL as a team owner but not as a player

  31. David G Says:

Not a chance Buffalo is worse off when it comes to salary cap and with Knox under contract they have more pressing issues So its Tampa or He likes Burrows and the Bengals hope he chooses here

  32. Eigie Says:

Gronk is a giant troll though, so I won’t take what he said seriously. However, if Gronk plays with the Bucs this year, there’s a possibility of Brady coming back when Gronk is just about to hang his cleats as well. There’s a big chance they agreed to retire together.

Gronk to bills & Brady to 9ers? Not happening. Gronk is more loyal to Brady than his childhood team, while Brady said more than once that he lost his allegiance to the SF team the time they passed on him 6x. All the trade talks started with just speculations, and that’s where it will stay.

  33. Swampbuc Says:

Gronk could play for any of the 32 teams.

Getting overthrown by Goobert, or missed by 6 feet by Trashk, or underthrown by Buttwater……

Buffalo and Josh Allen looks mighty good.

  34. Dennis Hartley Says:

    All you arm chair quarterbacks.
As far as Brady getting out of shape
In retirement, I don’t think that man will ever stop his routine of staying in shape, unlike some of his fans.
