Why Tom Brady Likes Antonio Brown

January 1st, 2022

Production.

If you think about it, there is a very good and obvious reason why Bucs quarterback Tom Brady is always in the corner of furniture-tossing, bicycle-throwing Antonio Brown.

Winners like to win and will do whatever it takes to win. Work out like a banshee. Study like you are taking a bar exam (no, not that kind of bar). Practice until you can no longer stand.

And you cannot win with guys next to you that you do not trust. In other words, produce. Cody Benjamin said production is the trait that gets Brown past so, so many off-field hassles.

Antonio Brown still has it. Maybe his off-field history is — and remains — tattered. But every time Tom Brady has needed him, he’s proven he can still be a No. 1 wideout. The Bucs will be fine with their current setup.

But here is the catch: What Brown nor Brady nor anyone with the Bucs can control is health. If anything has hindered Brown this year, aside from his fake V-card stunt, it’s his ankle barking.

Brown is still one of the best receivers in the game. If he cannot get on the field, he’s no better than Donteea Dye.

Same reason I do. Happy new year.

  2. Beeej Says:

Despite what folks think of him, what Brady is to the QB position, AB is to the WR position

  3. PassingThru Says:

It’s more than just catching footballs; Brady believes in AB.

  4. PassingThru Says:

Happy New Year Bucs fans. Be healthy, be empathetic, and be vaccinated.

  5. Tim in PSL Says:

We have Cyril Grayson. We’ll be fine.

  6. captivajim Says:

Getting concerned if AB has ankle recovery -or not ?? Seemed fine during sundays game..Suspect HE wants to play badly in last 2 games so that he can achieve his contract incentives for yardage , catches & td’s..

BUT we need him badly in playoffs–especially with loss of CG

no question that TB12 trusts him & Gronk, as he did with CG.. Brady likes Grayson which started when Grayson caught the 50 yrd td against slimmy aints. he also went to Grayson last sunday for 81 yrds….

We have Tyler Johnson, we will be fine! Now back to my second bottle….wee

  8. Listnfrmafar Says:

Brady trusts him because he’s fing good. Not taking anything away from Welker or Edleman two run through the wall iron men, Brady in his career has never with the exception of Moss, played with a receiver of this caliber. Godwin will eventually get their. Guys like this make Brady believe he can play forever.

  9. Kentucky Buc Says:

I think there’s more to it than that. Brown is self made like Brady. Both were over looked, lightly regarded 6th rd picks who out worked everyone to get to where they are. They have more in common from that aspect than people realize. They both have that 500 lb chip on their shoulder. Same reason Brady likes Scottie Miller so much. On the field they have a lot in common.

  10. Mr Bean Says:

Kentucky Buc – spot on. And they both have physical limitations (speed for Brady, size for Brown) that they had to overcome and become the best despite them.

  11. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Having AB on the field with Evans….we’ll be fine…..even with Freddie Martino (wonder if he played a set at the Vero Beach Ramada Inn last night)

  12. Ron says Says:

These guys are under a microscope all the time, not to say he hasn’t done morally wrong things but if you used the same measure when looking at the NFL league and it’s history and the environment these players are in and ways in which they have been abused. Grant it they make a lot of money now, but that doesn’t change where they came from nor the culture they live in, which is constantly changing as the world is, so regardless of the persona the NFL is now presenting. The NFL has not been the best parent or example of doing the right things, and now it is under the parenting and guidance of the government and the world’s morality.

Honestly it doesn’t look like we need T.B and A.B to work on their timing. He missed over 2 months of football came back dominated. Unless we need to win these next to games sit A.B and let him get healthy for the playoffs. The dude it a beast and just proved he can still take over a game. Just be ready for the playoffs.

  14. BBro Says:

Because AB runs great routes and he doesn’t drop the ball very often. He gets in the head of whoever is covering him too. Happy New Year. Have a safe, healthy and happy one.

  15. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

Donteea Dye! The ultimate Calgary Stampeder!

  16. Beeej Says:

I’m betting Gronk has some malady that isn’t being put on the weekly list

  17. Steve fan Says:

There are certain receivers who are clutch players when a team in a 3rd and long needs a critical 1st down. AB and Chris Godwin are those type of players. Other receivers may accumulate yardage but not necessarily when all the chips are down.

  18. Cobraboy Says:

How many QB’s don’t like their future HoF WR?

  19. fern Says:

he can catch everything with one leg.
but everyone wants to run him out
LOL now he staying for sure.
