Updates On Shaq Barrett, Playoff Lenny, Jason Pierre-Paul, Lavonte David And Cyril Grayson

January 10th, 2022

Bucco Bruce Arians

Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians is already in playoff mode.

It’s Eagles Week and Arians is now consumed by the Eagles. So already he is trying to figure out his gameday roster. And it should include a few veterans.

Arians said today in his day-after presser that Playoff Lenny is good to go for Sunday. He was on the injured reserve list and last night’s game completed Playoff Lenny’s three-game minimum on the list.

Arians said he also expects Bucs sack king Shaq Barrett and Jason Pierre-Paul to return to the lineup. Arians said he is excited to see how the outside linebacker duo plays now that they are “fresh.”

Lavonte David’s status? Arians isn’t sure. He said David’s availability will be “close.” Arians wouldn’t tip his hand either way.

On the immortal Cyril Grayson, Arians said, he said the wide receiver’s pulled hamstring is much better than the team initially feared. Arians sort of doubted if Grayson could play against the Eagles but if the Bucs win, Arians sounded as if Grayson should be available after that.

    Not a bad report.

  2. JimmyJack Says:

Does this mean Jamal Dean is fine? He was having a whale of a game before he left yesterday.

  3. Bird Says:

Dean will play. He gets knicked every game

  4. Bopper Says:

What about Breshad Perriman? He left in pain and will be needed in the pass game.

  5. PassingThru Says:

Great, I wasn’t expecting good news on Shaq.

Grayson… those hammies take time to heal, but I think the reason they rushed him out of the game early might have been simply a precautionary measure. That’s just a gut feeling though.

JPP isn’t a surprise. I don’t expect big things out of him, torn rotator cuffs take a lot of time to heal, with or without surgery. All it takes is one hard hit in the wrong place, and that shoulder will be a mess.

Getting Lavonte David back is key. That’s wait and see.

  6. Mike Johnson Says:

Sure hope David can get back. He fires up that middle.

  7. Jmarkbuc Says:

Unless Bowles is Supremely confident in stopping the Iggles run game without him, my guess is LD plays

2 playoff opportunities in his entire career? Wild horses couldn’t keep him off the field.. BA is being coy.

The importance of keeping away from the public and masking for players and their families cannot be stressed enough as omicron is everywhere and what a disaster it would be to lose anyone to a positive test result.

  11. rsjcheapseats Says:

Need LVD back – the difference in the run game is pretty obvious.

  12. Bucs Fan From Philly Says:

Dean gets hurt every damn game

  13. Defense Rules Says:

    Encouraging update Joe; thanks.

  14. David Says:

Sounding good except LVD. A lot is lost sideline to sideline when Minter is in there. He is good, he just does not have that speed

  15. Ash Says:

Really need David back, Devin and minter have been playing horribly and with how good the eagles are running the ball right now really crossing my fingers and hope lvd is back for that game

  16. BA4President Says:

    Great news overall

  17. Mike Says:

We definitely need LVD back ASAP! Minter is just not able to get it done.

  18. Wesley Says:

    David MUST play.

  19. Bangkok Buc Says:

LVD and Shaq are the 2 critical pieces in my opinion. That and let’s hope hope DW can fix what’s hurting his game right now. He’s a shell of his former self.

  20. Mike Says:

I’d really like to see more of Scotty “Scooter” Miller too. He’s so much fun to watch…

  21. stvcl Says:

@Mike me too. That definitely put a smile on my face when he scored.

  22. captivajim Says:

We need Perriman –hope he will be OK to go .

  23. Listnfrmafar Says:

Is BA playing possum so the Eagles have to prepare for Shaq & JPP? It’s a hell of a lot harder to prepare for them than to identify Turons and Nelson’s weaknesses. If they are healthy, kinda would of liked if he held that back a few more days.

  24. JasonR Says:

    Mike:

I second your thoughts on Scotty Miller. His speed on that TD was jaw-dropping, the dude can fly. It’s a real mystery why the Bucs haven’t put him to more use this season, but hey, just like last year, maybe he’s a hero-in-waiting laying low to make some huge plays in the playoffs. Let’s hope so. He is super fun to watch. Grayson is, too. And I like seeing Bell get the ball. His TD was sweet yesterday, too.

  25. unbelievable Says:

Good to hear about Shaq and Fournette!

I’m not expecting much from JPP though, unfortunately.

LVD is who I am most concerned about though. He is the engine of the defense, and especially our run defense…

Not surprised about Grayson. In fact I’d be surprised if we was ready to go in 2 weeks…

  26. Daryl Green Says:

Woozie Dean you good ? 😂🤣😂
