Tom Brady Reacts (Sort Of) To Antonio Brown’s Termination

January 6th, 2022

Bucs QB Tom Brady.

Joe didn’t expect Mr. Seven Rings to say a whole lot about the guy who was living with his family last year, the guy he begged the Bucs to sign.

And that former tenant was furniture-tossing, bicycle-winging, tantrum-throwing quitting receiver Antonio Brown.

As Bucs fans likely know, the Bucs threw Brown off the pirate ship today, for good. And Brady, who is the main reason Brown came to the Bucs, just happened to have his weekly presser scheduled this afternoon.

Minutes after the Bucs released a statement washing their hands of Brown, Brady found himself sitting before the local pen and mic club.

Brady, of course, was asked about Brown. As Joe expected, Brady really didn’t have much to say.

“I think there are a lot of personal feelings,” Brady began of Brown’s jettisoning. “I don’t think this is really the week to discuss it, though.

“I’m going to do the best I can do as the quarterback of the team and try to put together a great week and finish it off. You always deal with different things over the course of the season and that’s what we are doing this week.”

As Joe stated, no one in the Bucs organization was more responsible for Brown coming to Tampa than Brady. He hounded Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians and Bucs AC/DC-loving general manager Jason Licht for weeks.

The result? Brown scored a touchdown in a Bucs’ Super Bowl win.

So as much as Bucs fans may hate Brown now, remember he helped the team win a Super Bowl. Joe will forever be thankful for that.

  1. Cobraboy Says:

One wonders if Brady feels somewhat betrayed by a guy for which he stuck his neck out.

  2. ModHairKen Says:

It’s ancient history. Let it be.

  3. Bird Says:

Yah and Ira just had nice tweet on brady basicAlly blaming him for not taking any heat over bringing AB here . Not answering questions like you deserve that in week 18. With playoffs around the corner. Shame shame shame

What is ira’s problem really. 😂

  4. Lamarcus Says:

I don’t care what AB did for us. They were other players that contributed to the SB and AB can kick rocks

  5. Pewter Power Says:

Yes he was a part of a Super Bowl not the reason we won the Super Bowl. If fans want to hate him we can do that because he knew as we all knew players included that he was needed this year more than ever and this idiotic fool throws a tantrum about not getting targets in a game against the jets knowing we’re playoff bound. Dude is selfish and a sorry excuse for a human being

I’m not mad at him I don’t hate him. It worked out last year but not this year at least we got one. I hope the team comes out fired up because everyone has counted us out now

  6. Rod Munch Says:

Signing AB lead to a SB. The Bucs rode him for as long as they could. Now the team cuts him and moves on.

That doesn’t mean fans ‘move on’ and don’t talk about it. You’re not part of the team, dummy. Football is entertainment, and gossip is entertaining.

  7. Go Bucs! Says:

Two things we know. AB is a hell of a player and also he is a ticking time bomb. I want to believe in this team to go for two but I am not convinced TB12 is all in after BA kinda make AB hit the road. I guess he is obviously pissed with AB but also with BA. That’s my gut feeling…

  8. ClodHopper Says:

I dont mind paying the debt today for the Super Bowl last year. #WorthIt

  9. Winny Testaverde Says:

I just saw that, Bird…where your feathered friend The Pelican Irv Coughman wanted Brady to immediately apologize on Brown’s behalf. It will be very interesting to see Irv’s reaction if and when his Chiefs sign Brown.

  10. Francisco Guzman Says:

Time for players to step up. A combination of grayson and Johnson to go with evans and Gronk. I wish i would say Howard but the guy has done nothing.

I’m interesting in the tone of the comments Brady made today, because at first I read that quote the same way you did. BUT I didn’t hear the tone, so he could have said it in sort of a sad way like he did on Sunday, in which case it would sound a lot more like he’s just talking about AB. But in print, it sort of allows you to hear whatever you want to hear.

    I agree.

  13. BuccaneerButters Says:

I don’t understand why Tom would be pissed at Bruce for any of this. Everyone knew where the organization stood with him, where Bruce stood with him. It was very clear. I’m wondering if Tom wouldn’t have force fed him last year, denying Jones a 1k season rushing, he would have blown up last year.

It appears we all have been duped by the allure of the elite talent possessed by AB. I think everyone thought with the culture of selflessness, Tom Brady’s culture being instilled, guidance and influence, we could rein in AB. Evidently not. I appreciate his contributions to the field. I stook up for him during everything while he was a Buc. It’s clear as day to me that he is a selfish jerk regardless of the Burfict hit.

Now it will be interesting to see if any other team has the gall to pick him up. The only thing I can see is for a team to pick his brain on the team. If he signs and plays, we’ll then we know 100% he was lying. This isn’t Tom’s fault. We knew the risks of him, I again was fooled into thinking things would be hunky dory, at least for this year. Oh well time to move on.

  14. Ben green Says:

Brady should be ashamed of himself, but he hangs around a guy that said he could cure cancer, and gives out concussion water, so that ain’t happening. Joe is absolutely right in his assessment. Brady is the responsible party here. Yes he got gronkie to come down, and helped get LF, but this is what happens when you turn your team over to Brady and Alex. GM’s have jobs for a reason, to do what’s best for the team, not what’s best for Tom Brady. You might think it’s one in the same, but this is the evidence that it’s not. It’s a black mark on his career, Way more than deflate gate. Brady let this guy around his wife and kids. That alone shows horrible judgement. But letting the guy usurp the authority of the coaches and for that matter the GM is far worse. This whole escapade seriously deminishes Brady’s reputation as far as Ben is concerned

  15. DoooshLaRue Says:

Did you maybe rush this article Joe?
    😀

  16. View from 132 Says:

I’m not thankful to Brown at all. I’d rather watch a game free of idiots like him than win the Super Bowl. You also are making the assumption we don’t win without him. The defense held a depleted Chiefs offense to 9 points. I think the Bucs come up with more than 10 points without that character’s contribution.

  17. VSyl Says:

For sure Brady seems betrayed by now, his first comment speaks it in a very subtle manner. That’s all he will probably say until the end of the season.

  18. Pistol Pete Says:

He didn’t play a game in the playoffs last year if I remember correctly. He managed to make it back for the Superbowl.
He was on fire to start this year, but then got hurt, faked the card and came back with a solid, not spectacular game against Carolina.
Arians optics publicly were bad, not cutting him after the vax card fabrication and league suspension made him look weak.
I am certain BA had him on a short leash and seized the first opportunity Brown provided him by refusing to play in the third quarter Sunday as he opportunity to jettison the guy.
I have managed teams with “star” players, accepted the unfortunate drama they provided while delivering results.
In the end, I learned that getting those players off the team, was the best decision. Others flourished with their departure, without the added grief of the primadonna. My personal take is the team will have other WR’s rise up in his absence, Grayson, Perriman, Miller, Johnson, and we will be fine.
    Pistol

  19. Ben green Says:

    Amen view!!!!

  20. alton d green Says:

as a career Brady fan, do any of you REALLY think Tom is going to say anything serious????????????? Not gonna happen

  21. crazybucs_CL Says:

Tom new AB better then anybody here, he excepted for the benefit of the game, and his (TB12) performants.
We kind of knew, and Bucs knew and accepted the risks of “no risk it no biscuit theory”, until they did not.
    What was that?
A public backlash against fake vaxx card. That’s it.
Shorted fuse mind of AB, snapped.
The Vaxx Card event, was not an event for him, was not an issue for him.
So he become aggressive, and sensitive protecting himself, and he lost a lot of $$$ in the process.
    He is gone!
    We are left with Cyril!
Let see how is going to work out. 🤞

  22. adam from ny Says:

    simple:

brady sent AB a text to please mail him back the spare key to the house

  23. SlyPirate Says:

    I JUST REMEMBERED …

AB was the last FA re-signed this year. Remember AB’s public plea for the Bucs to re-sign him.

Licht and BA knew better but “bring back the whole crew” outweighed intuition.

  24. Jmarkbuc Says:

    We beat the Chiefs 31-9

    ABs TD wasn’t all that….

  25. SB~LV Says:

    Move On. Bucs !
This is a great off-season topic, I have no time for the distraction now!

  26. Listnfrmafar Says:

Ben, the fair weather fan, didn’t hear you b#$ching & moan when he was the #1 receiver before his injury or anytime last season. You’re probably the same guy wanting to cut Vaughn pre Panthers game. Brady ain’t saying anything derogatory toward any player, hasn’t done it for 21 years won’t now. If Brady were Trumps press secretary he’d probably still be in office.

  27. Joe Says:

BUT I didn’t hear the tone

Monotone, like he almost always talks.

You know, slightly more excited than Belicheat.

  28. Redneck Roady Says:

The only reason Tommy wanted AB was to win games- he didn’t give a crap about him or anyone else in the league- he doesn’t chum around with teammates, outside of the field. He’s a jet-setter type. He’ll be just fine now, you’ll see.

  29. Listnfrmafar Says:

Redneck, you are so wrong, he still hangs with old teammates from his rookie year. Tell me one occasion where a former or current teammates calls him out for being a premadona? The perfect example of you ain’t him so you hate him. Is this Oneilbucyall?

  30. Crickett Baker Says:

Tom was not the only person asked before BA signed AB. I recall that he also discussed his signing with the locker room. TB stepped up to say he would “watch over” him IF he came to the team. Brady wanted AB but so did the team, and we needed someone at the time. Before that time we did not need someone. Everyone that thinks Brady kept advocating for Brown on the team, over and over, is wrong. BTW, I noticed that the texts Brown posted about his injury were not dated. Furthermore, I do not believe most NFL players would want to play with him anymore, seeing how he dissed the entire Bucs team by his flamboyant exit.

  31. Beeej Says:

You could throw Mike Evans one pass every week, and he would never complain

  32. Jmarkbuc Says:

    That’s it.

I’m cutting my streaming services , my satellite TV, and my radio.

From now on I’m getting all my information fro lstnfrmafar. He knows more about players, coaches, medical staffs, security and team personnel and the workings of the NFL than anyone since .. maybe.. Ndog.

Why would you look any where for information?

Oh and he has a giant Erection for a four time nut job who once threw a chair off a balcony at a high rise because he was having a bad day, narrowly missing a 22 month old child.

  33. Beeej Says:

    Lolol

  34. Bucthis Says:

Brady brought winning to Tampa. Winning isn’t always pretty. Gladiators aren’t always nice people. I say we more than got our money out of AB and we all knew the break down was coming, it was just a matter of when. Now we just need to tune it out and keep going.

I’ve been a Bucs fan since ‘95 and I will take where we are right now over all the losing. Either be a Bucs fan or follow AB off the plank. Go Bucs!!

  35. Redneck Roady Says:

lstnfrmafar: look up the word jet-setter, it doe not mean premadona.
And ‘chum around’ means to ‘spend time with’.

Of course he’s still good friends with old teammates, and obviously he’s as humble as they come- duh….so get off your high horse.

Ben….. Go back to the rock you crawled out from

    That would be Plymouth Rock

  38. cmurda Says:

Wow. I’m honored to be in the presence of people that know the GOAT so well. They know that he is going to retire at the end of the year and how he feels about the AB saga. Would you mind letting him know that I said hello and thanks so much for coming to my team and bringing home the Superbowl last year.

    Thanks guys

  39. cmurda Says:

@Bucthis That’s what I’m talking about. Folks like us will be fans before AB got here and will still be fans long after he’s gone. Shoot, as much as I don’t want him to retire, the same is true for Brady. No one man is bigger than the team.

  40. orlbucfan Says:

Well, Brady called the shots on this nutcase coming here? Big surprise. He’s no Jesus of football, and the Bucs would have won last year’s SB with a QB that was competent like Brad Johnson. That team was the finest one Tampa Bay ever had in its history. Good riddance to Brown. Bucs are not the same team this year. They won the NFC South and I am fine with that. But how far in the playoffs? They are hurt this season. It will show.

  41. Buczilla Says:

I’m glad we got Brown and I’m glad that he’s gone now. On to the next!

  42. John Herb Says:

My only worry is that he seems to be to type of person who would sell or give our playbook to our rivals in the playoffs to get revenge. Just my opinion.

  43. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Orlbucfan

What are you smoking? Brad’s team had a defense for the ages. Brad could barely throw the ball 30 yards in his prime. He would not have won a SB last year in todays NFL.

Your Brady Hate is just… weird.

  44. cmurda Says:

@Jmark. Agreed and to add on look at Brad Johnson’s SB numbers. Not impressive

  45. Lesko_Brandon Says:

What was Brady thinking back then letting this lunatic stay in his house near his wife and daughter? scary! you have some psycho near your family.

  46. Listnfrmafar Says:

Thank you JMark, how else can I help you? I’m also a 4 handicap golfer, need any tips?

  47. Lamarcus Says:

Yea I’m blaming Brady for this fiasco. Solely on Brady. BA for not keeping it real to himself and putting Brady over the team because of Super Bowls.

  48. Alan Hurst Says:

    Ben Green,
As Brady said to Dennis Allen, kindly go f©®^ yourself, you Brady hating troll. Must suck whatever Brady has done to whoever your boy was…. let me guess, Manning or Rodgers? Perhaps a Michigan State fan with a last name of Green?
He owned them, he owns loser fans like you and he will for eternity. Choke on a bag Ben Green.

  50. Listnfrmafar Says:

Lamarcus, you can confirm thus with JMark but I’m pretty sure the goal as a NFL coach and what they get paid for us winning superbowls, not sure ethics comes first.

  51. Mike Johnson Says:

Goes to show us Tom is not perfect. Hell, he invited AB into his home to stay for a while. Not knowing what a Klepto the guy was. Bucs should have let AB go after the fake vaccination ID fiasco. But he self-destructed anyway. On to the Panthers!

  52. Jmarkbuc Says:

    Lstnfrmafar

    1. Try and imagine what silence looks like.

    2. Listen from farther away.

  53. Listnfrmafar Says:

No worries JMark, after this season when Brady & Gronk retire, I will to as a Buc fan and you can go back losing as you are accustome to. Your home field will be once again know as the Den of Depression. That is unless Bucs ditch these wannabe coaches and then able to recruit another elite QB.

  54. Listnfrmafar Says:

JMark, one last thing, until my departure please feel free to enjoy and absorb my knowledge and insight. You’re Welcome!

  55. HC Grover Says:

He is gone. Pay him off and lets win the playoff game. Get him out and forget about him.

  56. Jmarkbuc Says:

You are a real moron. Why should Brady be ashamed for wanting one of the best Wideouts in this league. It helped to bring a Super Bowl to Tampa. Nuff said!! You are a CLOWN BRO.

  60. Bucfan Says:

    Lamarcus,
My comment above includes you too and a few others on here. You people need your safe place? Sheesh man….

  61. Lamarcus Says:

It’s my opinion. Not yours. Sheesh man. Not even going to scroll up to read your comment cuz I don’t care what you said

  62. CalBucsFan Says:

Brown was one of many that brought Tampa a SB victory last year, he’s gone now. Addios troubled man, I hope you get the help you need.

Next WR step up, let’s go Bucs!

  63. David Says:

I am positive behind closed doors Brady is pissed. He had Brown‘s back for a long time.
Then for Brown to pull immature childish crap and feel like he wasn’t getting targeted enough in a half, while on a pitch count?
Then to try to cover his butt by saying he’s injured as he jogged, skipped and did jumping jacks off the field for 80 yards…
Whatever, Great while it lasted but see ya later you immature distraction diva.

  64. David Says:

I find everyone saying “hope he gets the help he needs…” To be rather amusing. He is a grown man who’s been in the NFL long time.
He’s an immature diva distraction who quit on his team.
    E f F him

Serious question? Who is the worst “buc fan” other then ndog and bucanthem

    Lamarcus

    Or

    Orlbucfan

So AB is all brady fault according to lamarcus. Shocker. Lamarcus loved him some jameis rear tenderloin. Sometimes straight medium rare tube steak

And orlbucfan just literally said brady is no brad johnson. She says brady sucks during every open thread.

We have the worst fans on the planet. Can you imagine talking football with either one. And instead of words coming out its just farts and diarrhea

    Complete dumpster trash
    😂

  67. Bird Says:

  68. Bird Says:

Brad johnson career stats 72-53 record with 166 tds and 122 ints – 1 super bowl . Around 29,000 pass yards

Tom brady career stats 242 – 73 record with 621 tds and 203 ints – 7 superbowls. And almost 85,000 pass yards

And i loved the bull brad johnson but how stupid is that comment by oralbfan

  69. Anonymous Says:

If you really think you guys would have won the superbowl without Tom Brady, you way over the edge. Wouldn’t have happened! And you chances of repeating is also in the mind and arm of the GOAT!

  70. Sorryjackchuckiesback Says:

Oh good you’re thankful that such a POS helped the bucs win a game!! Good job!!… Y’all, IT’S A GAAAME!!!! Nothing more!!…. These guys shouldn’t get them praise and money they get to begin with until they earn it not just on the field but in life in general!! Brown over the last 5 years has done NOTHING to earn ANY respect!! F him and I don’t care if he did “score a TD in the super bowl!” … It was defense that got them there too begin with when Brady threw 3 back to back picks in green Bay trying to force the ball to Brown!! …. Just before they signed brown they looked like they were really starting to sync … Then soon as they signed him they lost a bunch of games!! And guaranteed he was constantly complaining about how many throws he should get his way!! …. He’s a human being no better than you or me!! Just cuz he can run fast doesn’t mean he should be held on a pedestal!! The firefighters that run into a burning building to save a child, the astronauts that risk their lives for exploration… They are the ones we should look up to …. But na, let’s give ok ol brown a pat on the back for that one score he made in the super bowl that wouldn’t have mattered anyway since it was the D that won the nfc championship and the super bowl for them!!…. If Brown is allowed back into the league on ANY team that will be the last time I ever watch pro football again!! I’ve been a bucs fan since I was 5 … I love watching the game… But it’s just that, a game and doesn’t affect my life one way or the other if they win or lose!! But at least have integrity and values!!…. Dude should have never been on this team!! Or any team for that matter and should be held accountable for all the crimes he’s committed!! Stop looking up to these people like they’re special… Mike Evans is special cuz he gives so much to the community and you would never see something like that from him…. He should have been getting more targets to begin with!! I’m glad Brady came to the team but it’s time he stops calling the shots!! He’s a QB not the coach or PR guy!!
