There’s one key to keeping Tom Brady in Tampa and away from the golf course, and it’s not Bucco Bruce Arians, Byron Leftwich or an ownership group that probably would give him secret brown bags filled with cash and soccer tickets.
Joe is convinced that the Bucs’ offensive line is No. 1 when it comes to retaining Brady so he will continue this fairy tale that is being a Bucs fan. (In case you lost count, the Bucs are on a 21-4 run since the 2020 bye week.)
The O-line is more important than security blanket Rob Gronkowski or top target Chris Godwin and Hall of Fame receiver Mike Evans.
If you listen to Brady routinely as Joe does, then you know he’s all about health and preserving his body. So it should be obvious that Brady being sacked at a rate less than any NFL quarterback this season (per total pass attempts) means the world to him. In fact, this regular season is the only one in which Brady led the league in that category.
Last night on his SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio show, Brady was asked about the celebrating a great season and a fat bonus check with Rob Gronkowski. Brady replied that he would prefer to shower love on his offensive line with a night out. “Those guys balled out all year,” Brady said multiple times.
What’s wild and fun to Joe is how so many Bucs fans were ready to kick Donovan Smith to the street or, Joe’s favorite, to move Smith to guard because he’s not a tackle.
Then there were the doubters of the entire O-line itself. Bucco Bruce Arians quieted them a bit when he arrived, studied film of 2018 film of the line and said, “We’re good. It’s a good group,” before giving a thumbs up to Smith scoring a fat contract extension.
Brady also must feel great about how reserves Aaron Stinnie and Josh Wells have performed when called upon.
When the offensive line crumbles or breaks down, that’s when you’ll hear the Brady retirement chatter spark up. Joe would bet on it.

Hey there are geniuses smarter than BA and Jason Licht who post right here, calling for BA to be fired, Donovan Smith to be cut, and that Tom Brady only throws checkdowns.
They live among us, the reality-denying morons, just to feed their own weird narrative that makes them feel superior.

They OL is doing great. They just needed a QB worth protecting and reads the field so they aren’t chasing him trying to block for 20 seconds a play.

Other than the Saints games, our O-Line has done very, very well and they should be given a lot of credit for the Bucs offensive success.

The question is why where so many attacking the oline? Real fans know the answer I’ll just leave it at that.

Knocking on everything wood for the continued health of this unit. The offense can basically do what it wants or needs because these guys are so solid and have such continuity. Much credit to Jason Licht for putting these guys together and to Brady and the coaching staff for getting them to championship level play.

Not only is the starting oline playing great, but the depth is also impressive.
Stinnie, Leverett, Wells. Even the rookie Hainsey is looking good.
