“Put Me On A Respirator Now”

January 7th, 2022

Warren Sapp is laughing at the Bucs.

It seems the Bucs about to get back their entire secondary healthy for Sunday’s game is not impressing No. 99.

If you’re a newer Bucs fan, No. 99 is Buccaneers Ring of Honor member Warren Sapp, the legendary defensive tackle and first ballot Hall of Famer.

Sapp also is well known for being fired by NFL Network for his habit paying for things you’re not supposed to purchase.

A guest of The Rich Eisen Show this week, Sapp was asked about the Bucs defense and its postseason prospects.

“Now you can put me in the hospital in ICU,” Sapp replied. “See what I’m saying? Put me on a respirator now. See, you gave me COVID or (inaudible) and Delta and everything now. I gotta a lot of problems with this. I was watching my defense on Sunday (starts laughing). And I’m like we didn’t get no pressure on the quarterback for the Jets? (laughing again) Are you kidding me?”

Joe was stunned by the poor pass rush, as well, against a sad Jets offensive line.

Bucco Bruce Arians noted that Joe Tryon-Shoyinka delivered too much “finesse” last Sunday. And everyone watching saw failed blitzes and a lack of playoff-caliber push overall.

Sapp is a huge Shaq Barrett fan, and so is Joe. Get well soon, Shaq!

No pass rush = no Lombardi trophy. But there’s still time to get it right.

Where is Gill? Is he hurt? He has flashed, so what’s the deal? Bowles is gonna have to get creative in the playoffs.

  2. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Actually Warren didn’t pay….that’s why he got busted…..and AB is making 99 look like a model citizen.

As for the pass rush…..it wasn’t there.

Warren Sapp: Great player, as a person?, well, everyone knows …

    Guy’s the new Mr. Irrelevant

  4. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

We are feeling the loss of both JPP and Shaq Barrett.
We are gonna have to figure out a way to get some pressure, or we are gonna be one and done in the playoffs.

Joe……No pass rush = no Lombardi trophy. But there’s still time to get it right.

Simple reality in 2022, QB allowed to just go about his business is not going to cut it.
    Means you get beat.
Yes 30 points a game is good, but it was the pass rush last post season that made the difference.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  6. PassingThru Says:

The Bucs weren’t getting pressure on the QB as 3 of their 4 starting LBs didn’t suit up for the game. This isn’t rocket science, the OLBs couldn’t seal the edge and the DEs had to protect wide running lanes to compensate for the lack of anticipated help to the outside. And with the backup crew at LB, you’re obviously not blitzing or taking too many risks.

Sapp knows this, but Sapp is Sapp. The man loves to grandstand.

If only he had known a toilet licking lingerie blogger back in the day, he may have still been on NFL network!

  8. MadMax Says:

Sorry, but that Jets game was a fluke, except the winning TD that TB threw at the end……Plane was late to the game, no warm ups, some dudes prolly going off little sleep and ethanol, i mean its the jets…ab prolly bringing everyone down in the locker room (look what happened as soon as he was jetted off the field).

    We’re good.

  9. ClodHopper Says:

I’m not saying Sapp is never funny, but I’ve never appreciated his sense of humor.

    SMB-Toast will save the day

The last time I saw a super bowl caliber D play this average was 2003. I hope we can pick it up or its one and done

  12. Eric Says:

Calm down. It will be ok. they were just working on somethings.

  13. SufferingSince76 Says:

If they are tired, give them more time off. It worked last year.

  14. Winny Testaverde Says:

Sapp wants the Bucs to fail to somehow elevate/keep his “legendary” status in place. I don’t believe for a minute he’s rooting for The Bucs and/or their defense. Sapp could have been like Strahan post football career but he is who he is at this point.

  15. Go Bucs! Says:

Let’s not pretend to be psychologists, Sapp’s opinion about D# are legit. Bucs need to step up

  16. Coburn Says:

Rico I think before our first sack the only one who breathes on the qb was Gil. Was the only time I saw him in the field, but could ahve just dialed to notice him earlier. I’m still pushing for more time for him on obvious passing downs

  17. Rico210 aka wutdaBucisthis Says:

Coburn… yeah ok, so I’m not the only one. Let him get some run. Gotta get something going.

  18. PassingThru Says:

I’m trying not to go there, Winny Testaverde, but I think Sapp’s kiss of death on Christian Barmore may have influenced Licht during the draft. In the back of my mind I wondered if Sapp wasn’t badmouthing Barmore to keep his own legacy elevated.

    MEMORY PILLS …

I swear everyone on this site needs memory enhancing supplements. The Bucs defense wasn’t great against the Jets. They just won the NFCS. They aren’t playing for 1st Place. They relaxed during the week. The sky isn’t falling.

I MENTIONED MEMORY PILLS BECAUSE …
The game before the Jets, the defense allowed 6 points. The game before that, the defense allowed 9 points. That’s not good football, that is outright dominant defense in today’s game.

  20. HC Grover Says:

Sit Plan 9 and play Gill

  21. Listnfrmafar Says:

No worries, Bucs have 3 HC’s or one wannabe and the a never was, they will cross their arms, blink and poof, the grave diggers are back. The DB’s were never good and the front 7 are beat up and lost their MOJO. Not this year Bucs fans.

  22. Rod Munch Says:

You’re missing 3 of your 4 starting LBs – and for whatever stupid reason, Bowles keeps having White drop into coverage, and not rushing up the middle on every single play, which is how you should use White.

But I’m not sure what people expect to happen when you’re missing so many guys in the same group.

But I also understand what Sapp is saying, which is that it doesn’t matter who is in your backfield if you can’t rush the passer.

  23. MadMax Says:

@Rod, its by design…believe me, he will be unleashed during playoffs.
