“I Need Time To Myself”

January 24th, 2022

Gronk wants to be alone before deciding if he’ll play football again.

Lots of sad faces and pensive moods at One Buc Palace today.

The vibe is similar to what’s happening at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters.

Rob Gronkowski took his turn in front of the Zoom camera and made no commitment to media about wanting to play NFL football in 2022. Gronk is a pending free agent and he said he’ll have a clearer mind about everything in “a couple weeks.”

The good news, if there is good news today, is that Gronk says he feels strong. That wasn’t the case when he retired after the 2018 season.

“There’s nothing serious with my body that is nagging me,” Gronk said. “Normal bruising and soreness.”

Gronk was asked whether Tom Brady’s playing decision is tied to his decision, and Gronk didn’t dispute that theory.

Obviously, Gronk doesn’t want to be here to catch passes from any other quarterback. Perhaps he would consider it for massive money, but Joe highly doubts it.

I think its probably as simple as “I’ll return if Brady returns”

  2. zzbucs Says:

If Brady is in…Gronk will, be…..No mistery here…..
And both said the same….His bodies are fine……

  3. BucsfaninTX Says:

    Those 2 should get a room..😂😂

  4. Buc Neckid Says:

Gronk will NOT decide until he talks with Brady.

  5. BigMacAttack Says:

Even if they did win by a miracle yesterday, they were too banged up to go all the way. It’s pretty incredible that they made it as far as they did. The secondary is a major problem. They can’t play zone on their best day and Todd Bowles has had his head up his a__ this entire season. These CB’s just can’t get it right, so either they need to go or Todd needs to go. Yesterday, Coach Bowles, who I’m a major fan of, totally blew it out his a___.

  6. Listnfrmafar Says:

Very familiar sight. When they lost faith in Belichick they moved on. This is definitely the case with Brady & Gronk. Gronk has stated many times he has one QB and that’s Brady, he WON’T play with anyone else. It’s all over but the crying Bucs fans.

  7. SlyPirate Says:

The 2 big questions of the offseason …
    1. Does TB12 return?
    2. Do the OC/DC get HC jobs?

FA and the Draft will fall into place after those questions are answered.

(If TB12 retires, I expect Licht to go after Russell Wilson.)

  8. Jeff Says:

    Tom gone…Gronk gone….que Kurt Cousins

  9. Tampabaybucfan Says:

It’s the Tommy & Gronky show…….more tuddies or no more tuddies……TBBF thinks more tuddies…..

  10. Jmarkbuc Says:

In a perfect world Tom comes back for one more and Lichthouse makes the tough decisions that need to be made.

    Either way

    Brian Flores DC
    Rich Bisaccia ST
Maybe even Matt Nagy OC… he was pretty damn good in KC and managed to make Trubisky look good for a minute ( at least against us). Like Koetter, just wasn’t a good HC. Pretty creative on offense though.

Truthfully I’d just like to have a defense that defends.. Today’s FF, points crazy NFL may never allow that to happen again, but one can dream.

  11. Capt. Blighe Says:

    Winfield lost that game.

  12. zzbucs Says:

I would bring Koetter as an OC…..I know he is retired…..But he was a damm good OC!!!!

  13. IrishTony Says:

If TB retires Gronk may go as well unless the Bucs bring in Senor Rodgers.I guarantee you that if Brady retires they’ll bring in a veteran qb with the SB window still open. Remember this O Line is one of the best in the league and I really feel like the core; Marpet, Smith (who was off yesterday but I believe it had more to do with all the shuffling they had to do), Wirfs, Kappa (stay at guard please!), Jensen, will stay together for the next 2-3 years. Defensively they need to upgrade the slot position (SMB is way too inconsistent), add another interior lineman and possibly an edge rusher. Maybe pick up linebacker depth via FA.

  14. Lesko_Brandon Says:

I hope they dont discuss their future with a spotty network. 🤣🤣

  15. IrishTony Says:

Winfield did not lose the game Krupp was SMB’s man and as pointed out by armchair analysts he literally just stopped coverage of that decoy.

  16. Bqen green Says:

Tommy has some family issues that may be weighing on him. His oldest son is 14, and lives in NY. The commute maybe getting to the both of them. Super G ain’t settling in Tampa freaking Bay. They have that island in Miami. If she’s going to live in Florida, that’s where she wants to be.
The other issues come down to competence. How much more can he do in Tampa? Sounds like the team will continue with the same idiotic coaches. He got sick of the inane defensive approach. Banged up secondary or not, bowels and his philosophy don’t compliment a Tom Brady lead offense. Brady knew the deck was stacked last night. That’s why he was pissed all game. He knew they were going to be out coached. Nobody wants to hear about injuries this time of year. Y’all didn’t want to hear how banged up the chiefs were last year. They had enough on offense. The defensive approach was atrocious. The pass to cups at the end was a microcosm

  17. Jmarkbuc Says:

Last year I thought if Brady retired this year Rodgers would be a good signing, but now not so much.

Kaaron is about Kaaron and not much else. Chokes every year, then blames everyone else. And he wilts above 75 degrees 😂

  18. Cobraboy Says:

I am also on the Wilson bandwagon of the GOAT retires.

  19. SKBucsFan Says:

Lesko…Good one. Although it did work once already.

  20. David Says:

It seemed obvious to me he wants to make sure Brady‘s coming back.

They need to get cracking on contracts for Godwin, Whitehead, Davis, Jensen and either Cappa or Stinnie.
Figure out what WR, TE and D lineman they will target in free agency.

The other free agents don’t matter as much and aren’t that expensive. OJ Howard and Ronald Jones won’t and shouldn’t be signed back.

  21. Bqen green Says:

Wilson’s first priority is to be protected. When healthy the bucs line meets that standard. He’s also going to want to win straight away. The bucs probably have one, or two years at best with this current core defense. Y’all want no part of Aaron Rodgers. The guy is a regular season QB.

  22. Ed Says:

Brady is still very good, but not sure he can still compete with the mobile gunslingers like Mahomes and Allen. For sure he needs better protection than he got yesterday. And of course the receivers were decimated. What shocked me was the defense. What happened to the pass rush that hounded Mahomes into a mediocre Super Bowl last year? Everyone was back yesterday, but Stafford was barely pressured, and of course with time to pass, he picked apart the defensive backs.

  23. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

It is very simple, Gronk goes where Brady goes.
    No Brady, No Gronk!
    Any Questions ?

  24. #8 Says:

    check TB12 Sports twitter-

I was in the camp Brady retires…maybe not.

ps–football is such a bipolar sport. Yesterday’s game took years off my life.

  25. Bqen green Says:

Ed it’s always the case. People see mahomes and Allen running all over the place, and think that’s the only way to get it done. It couldn’t be further from the truth. It’s incredibly hard to win. Repeating has become a near impossibly because it’s how the league wants it. The pocket passer will never go away, because that’s where the vast majority of games are won. Brady didn’t play great, and his line was banged up.

  26. Thisisouryear!!! Says:

I’m guessing we’ll lose at least Leftwich with the plethora of head coaching jobs available. I really do think Bowles is slated to be the next head coach of Tampa. When would we hear if coaches are going elsewhere? Do they announce it before the Super Bowl or wait until after the season finishes?

  27. Cobraboy Says:

CB after the game was over, suffering from Post Couch Traumatic Loss Syndrome:

“I need some time to myself.”

    So I understand Gronk. 😉

    Winfield lost that game.

    __________________________________________________________

Nope. That was 100% on Todd Bowles.

You don’t blitz in that situation. EVER! And especially not against one of the best QBs vs. the blitz.

And you especially don’t leave the best WR in the entire league in single coverage vs a safety.

It was a moronic play call by Bowles.. Worse than Pete Carroll not giving the ball to Marshawn Lynch in the Super Bowl.

  29. crazybucs_CL Says:

I hope they make their minds before Feb 11th, or there will be thousand season tickets holders NOT renewing, so they can end up watching Blaine Gabbert and Jaelon Darden and listen to BA how “confident” he is for both of them..😮

  30. Bojim Says:

I think they all need a little time. I’ve no problem with that.

  31. Eddie Marz Says:

Remember the last regular season game. Brady wanted in because he wanted to be the QB who helped Gronk get his bonus. They’re great together. GOBUCS!

  32. Bucamania Says:

I need time to myself as well after that effort.

  33. Dman-TX Says:

Come back Gronk!! USAA may not welcome you in but you are always welcome an One Buc Place!!

  34. Listnfrmafar Says:

Why would any elite QB go to Tampa just for Evan’s? Godwins gone then what? Secondary stinks a Dline depleted. Get used to losing again as long as BA steers the ship.

  35. Bucs96NYC Says:

Bucs should call the Texans ASAP & be as fearless as they were in getting Gruden!

That’s if Brady leaves, honestly if they can Watson then I would be OK w/ them nudging Brady to retirement. Only cause Watson is the future & present!

  36. HC Grover Says:

Brady had em beaten until the 40 seconds over Chattahoochee by Bowles. Bowles knocked us out of the SB that we would of won. That is what I think.

  37. SB~LV Says:

Gronk is a lumbering old man.
Listen the front office needs to be forward thinking, this roster has a lot older high cap talent.
This was the year of keeping the “band together “
Watch the 4 teams next weekend and compare ages of starters.
The sentimental journey has come to an END… not just Gronk

  38. brooks Says:

SB-LV– you said it best and you have it right

  39. Destinjohnny Says:

Sucks a bad coaching call ended this season

  40. Tom Sumner Says:

12.. 87… =99 percent both will be back .. LFG

  41. bucschamp Says:

Brady and gronk will go to a contending team. if bucs lineup don’t pass, they will sign elsewhere or maybe just retire

  42. steele Says:

Ed Says, I’m a bit tired of the knock on Brady being immobile. Matt Stafford is a statue, and all I hear from the mediots is that he’s great.

  43. down in the dirt doug Says:

Note to Gronk, your work ethic and and your love for the game and your teammates warms my spirit and —MAN YOU ARE TO BE ADMIRED!!!!!!!!!!!

  44. Rzone13 Says:

Return Gronk 1 more super bowl n then retire
