Chance To Play

January 17th, 2022

Update.

In his day-after presser, Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians said injured right tackle Tristan Wirfs has a chance to play Sunday in the divisional round game.

Joe does not want to think about the Bucs playing the Rams without 2/3 of its three Pro Bowl offensive linemen. Having Aaron Donald and Von Miller go against a rookie and a less than average backup is a total recipe for disaster.

Arians said if neither Wirfs nor backup Josh Wells can go, then Alex Cappa would play right tackle and Aaron Stinnie would play right guard.

And that could maim Tom Brady.

We have three TE’s. One of them perhaps the best blocking TE of all time…Brate not so much…and OJ…he has the size and talent does he have the heart.

Bernard is a good blocker…Bell might even be better…and Playoff Lennie can do a decent job.

We will simply need to get creative.

If you have to ask that question now when he is in the final month of his rookie contract, the answer is very obvious.

Joe, that means the Rams will win? Arizona is more than capable of beating the Rams. but no Wirfs is a scary situation.

If Wirfs can’t go couldn’t they move Cappa or Hainsey to right tackle and keep OJ Howard in the game to help out?

Yes, the Cardinals are capable. The Cardinals also do not have two Hall of Famers on their defensive line (one, sure) like the Rams.

Joe: Please comment on the dirty play of the Eagles. The early roughing the passer penalty was a clear cheap shot on Brady and the play where Darden was down and Eagle player speared him in the helmet was another one.

I couldn’t see how Wirfs got injured but the way Philly was playing to injure the Bucs was apparent to my eyes.

I don’t think that would go as badly as you make it sound… Stinnie proved he’s a great back up and cappa can easily go to tackle since he played that in college…. I think they’ll do fine… But in reality I think wirfs will play!! Tape the hell out of it, juice him up with Novocain and get him out there!! This is the playoffs!! If there’s any chance you can play you need to be out there!!

So it sounds like we are all rooting for the Cardinals. GO CARDS!

Dirty hits are SOP in Buc World. How do you think CG14 got knocked out? An Aint nailed his knee helmet-first. I hope Grayson and Fournette can play. That will let Gronkowski help out the OLine with blocking if Wirfs can’t go.

Based upon yesterdays performance, Wells wouldn’t be an option, unless he is the only option.

Actually saw Howard make a few nice blocks yesterday….

As long as they don’t do like KC last year and NOT give that side of the line help at least until they prove they can hold their own. No more 4 sack games on Brady! Stop running to that side as well.
