Bruce Arians Names “Our Three Running Backs For This Week”

January 5th, 2022

“Don’t worry, TB, I’ll keep my shirt and pads on.”

UPDATED 10:03 p.m. – The Buccaneers’ head coach tipped his hand tonight, and he shared some great news, too.

First, the fantastic news. Speaking on SiriusXM NFL Radio tonight, Bucco Bruce Arians said Leonard Fournette, on injured reserve with a bad hamstring, is making coaches smile at One Buc Palace. “Leonard looks good. I think he’ll be ready for the playoffs.”

As for Ronald Jones, Arians acknowledged his bad ankle and strongly implied RoJo won’t be ready for Sunday.

“We’re down to three healthy bodies. And right now, Ke’Shawn Vaughn, who has really stepped in and I knew he would — he’s a really good young player — Le’Veon Bell and Kenjon Barner, they’re our three backs for this week,” Arians said. “And all of them bring something that we can use in a game plan.”

Arians went on to gush over Vaughn.

“He’s got a great, quick jump-cut acceleration runner. He’s got good vision. He just hasn’t had the opportunities yet in his career,” said Arians, who pointed to Vaughn’s 50-yard scamper against Carolina two weeks ago. “He’s got that kind of explosiveness.”

Joe is very intrigued to see Vaughn as the lead-dog running back, as well as Bell building on his strong game through the air last Sunday. Barner hasn’t had a regular-season carry in years.

How sweet would it be to get Playoff Lenny back for the postseason, and have Vaughn and Bell with experience and a RoJo back in the mix?

Could this finally be the game that the Bucs don’t run on every first down?

On a different note, I hope the Tampa Sports Authority is pitching the NFL to get the Super Bowl again this year. Sure, it won’t happen, but they should try just to piss off everyone else.

Just think, the Bucs could have a record that will never be broken, winning the SB at home in back to back years…

    Vaughn’s gonna explode. Watch!

Rojo’s time in Tampa Bay is like the ball falling in Times Square, going…going…gone.
    It’s too bad.
At least we’ll see Vaughn in a legit starting role to see what he can do. He has a lot to prove too, IMO.

Vaughn’s got fresh legs. It could make a difference this late in the season.

I would like to see if bell can do something. Jets o line was trash when he went there. N let’s be clear KC o line was nothing to write home about when he was there. Reid is a great coach and knows how to use his players. Sometimes just doesn’t work. Bucs o line is strong hopefully bell can ball a little. It would def help with our wide out injuries.

Leveon Bell! He will probably split reps, if not get more reps than Vaughn, due to his pass-blocking and ability to catch. Maybe we go ground-n-pound this game if we can take a lead into the 2nd half. I’d sure love to see that approach. 3TE (Gronk, OJ, Brate &/or Josh Wells) formations to close out the game and season. It sure would translate well on the road should we end up in Green Bay especially.

Following up Joes; some weeks back Joe cited a report containing a gem of a stat: 20% of all Buc offensive snaps took place in the red zone. Astonishing, outlandish even. What is that number right now?
    Go Bucs!

Looks like the Super Bowl is moving out of LA.
Tampa should put the full court press on hosting it again!

Leveon Bell has fallen under the Tom Brady mystique. We were not the only ones amazed at a comeback with 2:00…rotten field position…2 of the 3 top targets OUT…the other nursing a balky hammy….Gronk in a bit of a slump…his two starting RB’s out…NO TIMEOUTS…Down 4 a FG wouldn’t help…I don’t care if it’s the Jets or the “Little Sisters of the Poor” that was an incredible comeback!!!

Bell said it was amazing from the huddle perspective. TB never had a doubt…his lack of doubt infused the rest of the team with certainity…hey it’s the GOAT this is what is supposed to happen…

Bell is an athlete first and foremost. He realizes how much fun it could be for the next month and a half with the GOAT and another SB run. Bell will be MOTIVATED by this golden opportunity.
