“Belief” That Gisele Has Had Enough Of Football

January 25th, 2022

“Oh Tom, do you really want to spend another year handing the ball to Giovani Bernard? Only Ira Kaufman likes that guy for some weird reason.”

In the mind of one of the most plugged-in NFL media types around, the supermodel Gisele Bündchen is putting her stiletto heel down.

The creator, curator and overall guru of Pro Football Talk, the great Mike Florio, is trying to figure out why the greatest quarterback of all time who just finished one of his greatest seasons is suddenly talking openly of retirement — when just a couple of months ago he was openly talking about playing at 50.

Tom Brady has said for the better part of the last decade (which included the Lost Decade for Bucs fans) he wanted to play until he’s 45. Now just a handful of months from reaching that goal, Brady claims he may have had enough.

Florio is hearing whispers throughout the league that Bündchen is fed up with her husband playing football and has demanded Brady call it quits.

There’s a belief that Mrs. Brady, otherwise known as Gisele Bundchen, has laid down the law with her husband. That, regardless of whether he wants to keep playing in 2022 and beyond, she’s telling him that 22 seasons are more than enough.

This is not really surprising if true. After all, we heard Brady tell Howard Stern that Bündchen threatened divorce if Brady didn’t quit attending voluntary OTAs with the Belicheats. Or maybe Bündchen just had some hangup with Bill Belicheat? She wouldn’t be the first.

And we all heard how Bündchen told Brady after the Bucs won the Super Bowl last year, “How much more do you have to prove?” … Not exactly, “Honey, you’re the best, now let’s celebrate!”

Brady said after the game Sunday and on his saccharine-laced podcast co-hosted by ChapStick Jim Gray that his wife is so supportive of him. Honestly, Joe didn’t expect him to say anything different. Does anyone really expect Brady to say in a public forum that Bündchen nags him daily about cleaning the garage, taking out the trash, playing “Guitar Hero” and mowing the lawn?

Perhaps Joe and Brady have different definitions of “supportive.” Joe’s idea of a supportive spouse is one that would be encouraging her husband to continue the passion that he has burning inside of him — the one for which he is compensated handsomely, lauded as the greatest and has so many people depending on him.

Joe’s idea of supportive is not a demand to give up Brady’s life’s passion and tens of millions dollars annually because she needs a hug in the middle of the day when he’s otherwise breaking down tape with Jaelon Darden and Josh Wells.

But hey, maybe Joe is the weirdo here. Joe doesn’t have supermodels throwing themselves at him.

Joe, I agree with your statements above 100%. Not coincidentally, I am divorced!
Keep up the good work. Still having trouble digesting that loss the other day. I wish Todd Bowles wife would make him quit football. Be well.

  2. Dew Says:

I think this is all the build up to announce this coming season will be his last. Perfect retirement.

  4. Marine Buc Says:

Tom Brady wants to be traded to the Indianapolis Colts.

They have cap space, a solid offensive line, the best RB in the NFL, a solid defense and a weak QB.

He will bring Gronk and Godwin with him.

The Bucs get a first and second round pick and about $20 million in cap space.

We then start the rebuild with two first round picks, two second round picks and @ $40 million in cap space…

  5. Adrnagy Says:

The problem is gisele wants to go back to the spotlight either modeling. Or taking bikini pic.

Brady takes most of year playing football and eating almonds. I have a feeling this relationship wants a flip of power.

Sad to hear this … brady or anyone thats good at what they do should continue with out limitations. Love what you do. Do what you love. Be happy.

  6. Bobby M. Says:

I think Florio recognizes click bait material and leverages it for obvious reasons. I dont take any outlet serious with they are “hearing whispers” with no sources, no names, no link to anyone or any organization….that’s garbage reporting. Reality is this…..Brady could have retired before he came here, could have retired after the SB….saying he might retire is stating the obvious, he’s played 22 yrs.

  7. gbobucsfan Says:

Florio is unbearable most of the time. Would much rather read the Joe’s than Florio who is one step away from TMZ.

  8. Buddhaboy19 Says:

Brady could do better than Gisele anyway, i never found her overly attractive. If she wants him to retire and he wants to play, he should tell her to go pound so sand on CLearwater beach.

  9. PassingThru Says:

Uh Marine Buc, ever hear of this thing called Deflategate? Brady would sooner play for the TCU fighting Horned Frogs than Indy.

  10. adam from ny Says:

tom should stay in tampa and play for many more years…

rack us sick stats and get 10 rings…

so no one compares to him in the world…ever…not even jordan…

then trade in wifey for a newer version…like supermodel
    bar refaeli…yes bar refaeli…

i’m sure she would marry tommy too 🙂

wait this sounds like advice AB might give him…but i’m sticking with it

  11. BA4President Says:

The reality us fans need to realize is that he needs her for the next 30 years more than he needs another season.

I really hope she can be down for one more season.

Regardless of what happens, I don’t blame either of them. Marriage is hard. A happy marriage is even harder. It takes sacrifices that may seem crazy to those on the outside.

  12. adam from ny Says:

also tom is more handsome, than giselle is pretty…

    tommy wins again !

  13. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

There is always some plan from the Brady camp with all of this and it could be for anew special chronicling the last year of Tom Brady in the NFL next year mixed in with his new endeavors. Maximize his last year in the NFL for his future endeavors’ and make his brand 2nd only to Jordan and maybe dive into ownership; problem is people like Brady always have that competitive drive and it won’t be filled at model shoots

  14. Im not tired anymore we Super Bowl Champs!! Says:

I think he gives it one last season and tells everyone this is it. I mean I was at the game and would have loved to give him a standing ovation as a fan knowing it was his last game. I think if he just abruptly leaves we will all feel like their was never true closure which would suck in itself. These type of things you have to ease into. Let’s celebrate all year with another season with Brady! Go Bucs!

  15. Marine Buc Says:

    @ PassingThru

Lol… I recall there being several teams that had mutual interest when TB12 was a free agent. The Niners, Colts and Bucs were all mentioned.

If they were interested in him then – how could they not be interested in him now? He just threw for 5,300 yards and was probably the third or fourth best QB in the league.

  16. Marine Buc Says:

How much would Indy be willing to give up for a chance at a SB ring? Even if it is for just one season…

  17. adam from ny Says:

    @MarineBuc:

tommy was not the 3rd or 4th best qb in the league…

he was the best qb in the league – he was number 1…

and maybe one can argue at worst, number 2…

how you have him at 3rd or 4th is just beyond…it’s just beyond

  18. PassingThru Says:

There is no way Tom Brady would ever play for Indy. Do you really not get it? Indy ignited the entire Deflategate soap opera, as their drug-addled owner Jim Irsay lobbied Roger Goodell for a suspension. Not only did that result losing 4 games, Deflategate sullied Brady’s name and legacy. It also raised a potential roadblock for the Super Bowl, though Brady led the team past that obstacle.

Brady playing for Irsay? Don’t make me laugh.

  19. tampabayallday Says:

It’s over I thought he would play one more but it’s over in my opinion!! Time to develop our own quarterback now if BA is supposed to be this quarterback guru time to prove it now !!

  22. Marine Buc Says:

    @ adam

I am ranking QBs based on who I would rather have as my QB.

    1 – Mahomes
    2 – Rodgers
    3 – Brady
    4 – Allen
    5 – Burrow
    6 – Dak P.

  23. Darin Says:

Dew. I agree. The best always have farewell tours. Next season will be his last

  24. SB~LV Says:

I seriously doubt she has “demanded”
If Tom retires it will because he doesn’t want to embarrass himself by playing and not being able to make his throws.
What is up with the wrap on his left arm?
Earlier in the season he had some white stuff on his left arm and later it was wrapped.
    Inquiring minds

  25. Darin Says:

Marine. Sorry to hear it. You must not be into championships above all else

  26. adam from ny Says:

    marine:

well ok but that’s totally different…

    mvp top 3 this year:

    1 tom
    2 aaron fudgers
    3 joe burrow

and no to dak…the others are okay…

replace dak with herbert, and maybe others too

  27. Show Me the TDs Says:

I think the real question from Gisele is, “Would you rather have your hands up Jensen’s butt cheeks or mine?”

  28. PassingThru Says:

I think this game confuses Marine Buc.

The only way Brady is traded is if he requests it. You cannot force a trade on him. And there’s no way he’d request a trade to Indy.

  29. Buc Wild Says:

Gisele has been wanting Tom to retire since 2017. This is well documented. She obviously will not be the final deciding factor. Tom is way too competitive and knows he can still play at a high level. I’m not saying he’s for sure coming back, but the arrow points that direction. I don’t think he can live going out that way, knowing he’s most likely headed to another Super Bowl had Godwin and Wirfs been in that game. I think a lot is going to depend on what magic Licht can make happen this off-season. Godwin, Lenny, and Gronk will all need to be back for Tom to come back IMO. JPP, Suh, RoJo, OJ all gone. Cut Bradley Pinion ASAP, and I’m sure a lot of guys are (again) willing to restructure their contracts. Go Bucs, hopefully we get one last ride with Brady and Gronk.

  30. Ash Says:

He said he didn’t want a farewell tour already said it would just be a distraction and he is all about the competition I don’t think he cares. If he retires after over 20 years good for him for whatever reason thanks Tom for your part in getting a sb and making the bucs relavent again.

  31. adam from ny Says:

    stafford above dak as well

  32. '79 Defense Says:

I still think that Brady wants to wear the orange just once as a Buc, so that could be the little nudge that tips the scales. Yes, wishful thinking…

Can’t blame him if he doesn’t return though with that murderer’s row schedule next season.

  33. adam from ny Says:

dak might be out of the top 10 imho

  34. Ash Says:

And in listening to the podcast if he did retire it’s kinda how he described wanting to retire without distractions so I think he may well retire if that’s the case it’s either Trask or gabbert or whatever door number 2 is oh my goodness go bucs

  35. Tye Says:

What the Bucs truly need is for Trask to pan out like Josh Allen or Hurbert…

A Young QB talent that will be with the team for years to come… One to build around so the Bucs don’t instantly plummet into the dark years for years to come… That way they can hopefully avoid the Josh freeman, Mike Glennon, Winston failures of the past!

  36. #8 Says:

If his kids say, ‘Dad we want to watch you play more’, TB12 comes back.
If the kiddos suggest they’d rather have him around all the time, he retires.
I don’t think Gisele is the decider, because even she will do what will make her kids happy. Well documented they are a pretty tight-fam.

Thus, whoever’s kids on this board go to school with any of the yoot-Brady’s, tell them to tell their dad to play.

  37. VSyl Says:

Brady already stated that he would play until he sucked. Being so competitive, that’s probably what’s gonna happen. The way he played in this last season, for sure he could play at a high level for at least 3 more years. He probably is just waiting to see what happens to the Bucs concerning players and coaches. If he is not satisfied he retires, but saying it’s because of his family (so fans won’t be criticizing), if he is satisfied he comes back. I don’t believe he goes to another team, he saw how hard it was to aclimatize in another team.

  38. Marine Buc Says:

    @ passing thru

That’s exactly what I am suggesting. Perhaps TB12 will asked to be traded. The Bucs are cap strapped and have 28 free agents.

The colts have cap space, a solid line, the best RB in the NFL, a solid defense and a weak QB.

If Tom is going to chase another SB ring it will be in Indy not Tampa.

I’m not confused by anything guy…

  39. SOEbuc Says:

“A belief.” Where does media come up with this sh!t? It’s probably been true for a while, but who’d they get this kind of info from recently? Gisele? Tom? Hell no

  40. Alanbucsfan Says:

According to a CBS Sports article –

The Indianapolis Colts decided to sign Philip Rivers over Tom Brady in free agency, but that doesn’t mean Indianapolis didn’t actually take a look at signing the 42-year-old Brady. All options were on the table, according to Colts head coach Frank Reich, who watched every snap Brady took over the past two seasons.

The Colts head coach was very thorough in his evaluation of Brady.

“I did tell you that we did look at all the guys and I will tell you that I looked at his (Brady’s) tape,” Reich said in a conference call, via Kevin Hickey of USA Today. “The guy is incredible. I mean, I watched all of his tape from the last two years. I think he’s still playing at a super, super high level.

“We know he’s the best of all time for a reason (with) as many championships as he’s won. I mean, he still threw a couple balls in games, I’m saying, ‘How’s this guy throwing this ball this far?’ He’s incredible.”

  46. sauron's eye Says:

If he retires it was great having him. Mike Florio wants the Pack to pay Rodgers 50 mil per year. That would be great, they won’t get near the playoffs then.

  47. David Says:

I still don’t buy it. When she is at the games with or without the kids, she seems very into it. She seems like she has a great time. I think it’s going to be a few weeks before we really know, but I think he’ll return

This is not a playoff or super schedule even with Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers on Tampa in 2022. Looks like the hardest schedule I’ve ever seen in Brady’s career.

  50. Boston Says:

Mike Florio loves to speculate about things he knows nothing about.

  51. New England Patriots Fan Says:

Every playoff or near playoff team
from the NFC team, and AFC KC, Baltimore, Pitt, Browns and Cinci. There is like 3 easy games it’s a horrible schedule, to even get a 7th seed wildcard.

  52. Thisisouryear!!! Says:

Happy Wife happy life, right? I think Brady is listening to Montana say play as long as you can because once it’s gone, it’s gone. I think (and hope) he’ll play one more season.

If he does play one more season, I think they’ll be better next year. With Godwin and AB out, I saw him develop chemistry with Evans. I don’t know if Evans is running better routes, creating more space, but if the Bucs make a few moves in the offseason, we are going to be right there again next year. Go Bucs!!! ONE MORE YEAR!!!!

How long have Tom and Gisele been together? Surely she knows her guy as well or better than anyone else on the planet.

All Tom has said all season when asked is that he will play as long as he can play and win at a high level. I have no “insider” info and I am not telepathic. The impression I have from where I sit is that Tom is still the “young kid” who loves the game of football.

  54. PassingThru Says:

Donald Yee floated it by Indy as he was trying to find options for his client, Tom Brady. The only way I could see Brady playing for Indy would be if no other team stepped up to the plate, in other words Indy would be a last resort (Indy was more stacked talent-wise than Tampa Bay). Yee knew Brady’s motivation, which was to show Kraft and Belichick that he was still an elite QB, despite Belichick’s desire to move on. That’s past, Brady made his point in Tampa Bay. At this point there are only three options: SF, Tampa Bay, or retirement.

And if an SF trade was on the table, it wouldn’t be for much. It would be more as a favor to Brady on the way out the door (not to mention SF has terrible draft capital after trading up to get Trey Lance).

  55. DBS Says:

By the time these teams get and lose players you do not know how they will be. Also account for injuries. Season can chance on injuries alone.

  56. PassingThru Says:

I didn’t believe the retirement rumors, I’ve been hearing crap about Brady wanting to take life easy from idiot Patriots fans for well over a decade (“He’s married now to a Super Model”, “He’s from California, he’s too laid-back”, “He’s getting old and doesn’t want to wear down”, “He’s rich now and doesn’t want to work as hard”). I also heard moronic New England fans tell me that his arm was shot (amazing how people don’t understand this game, his mechanics were spotty in 2019 for the first dozen games, but he cleaned them up and was rifling accurate passes by the end of the season.

But this time is different. I do believe Brady is considering retirement. While every season in the NFL is a struggle, I think the combination of the Injury of the Week Club, Antonio Brown’s stupidity, and of course Gisele’s influence have worn him down. I don’t see how these things can be blocked out. Brady knows damn well that he’s missing some of the most important years of his children’s lives.

I hate to say it, but I think he has one foot out the door.

  57. sasquatch Says:

I would be a little surprised if he came back. I think it’s over. We have to find a QB now, which is never any fun. Maybe Arians is right about Gabbert — maybe he’s learned and grown from his earlier times as a starter. Stranger things have happened, but I can’t say I’d be confident with Gabbert and Trask heading into next season.

  58. PassingThru Says:

One last note: Brady also got his revenge.

The vaunted “Patriot Way” was Tom Brady, not Bill Belichick. I had never seen a Belichick Patriots team give up, but that’s exactly what they did this season. They laid down like road kill against Buffalo. I think New England might build a decent team in a year or two, but the Patriot Way is in the rearview mirror.

That’s Tom Brady’s revenge. It was him, not Bill.

  59. PassingThru Says:

And though Brady didn’t lead Tampa Bay to a Super Bowl this season, he led the offense to a breath-taking tie in the final seconds, putting the team in a place to win the game.

She’s the highest paid model in the world(?) I think. Fact check me. And he’s the GOAT. Do your thing!

  64. Listnfrmafar Says:

We all saw the beaten he took with no support from job searching BL and couch potatoe BA. Why would he. San Fran, Indy, Tenn or AZ if Murray choses baseball would be the best options, I’d say Saints but not without Payton. He will play his last year somewhere else. He doesn’t care about division titles he has 15 maybe more of them. He and Gronk would fit in perfect on Tenn or Indy and two good coaches that don’t take days off.

  65. Bellingham Bucs Fan Says:

When I think in the short term, I’d love to see Brady back, obviously. When I think about the long game, I believe his coming back sets us back for years if he does so with the contingency that we bring back some old guys who take up too much cap room.

We need to move the coaches and some old wood and do a smart rebuild.
