Adam Schein: Todd Bowles Is Worthy Of Being A Head Coach

January 18th, 2022

Big Todd Bowles fan.

Popular sports radio and television personality Adam Schein came away from wild card weekend with nine items stuck in his head.

And in watching the Bucs defense choke the Eagles and one of the best running attacks in the NFL, Schein, who can be heard weekdays on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio and seen weeknights on CBS Sports Network, concluded the following: Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles both deserves and is worthy of another head coaching gig.

Eagles-Buccaneers, which carried the biggest point spread of the three NFC affairs, was predictably coma-inducing. The final score of 31-15 doesn’t do this game’s lopsidedness justice, as Tampa Bay entered the fourth quarter with a 31-0 lead. These Eagles deserved credit for making the playoffs in Nick Sirianni’s first year, but we all knew they weren’t for real. After all, Philadelphia went 0-6 against playoff teams during the regular season.

BUT don’t let that minimize the importance of the superior effort put forth by Bowles’ defense. The Bucs pitched a shutout for three quarters. They forced three turnovers and held Philly to 6-for-17 on third/fourth down. The Eagles led the NFL in rushing during the regular season, having eclipsed 200 ground yards five times since Halloween. On Sunday, they couldn’t even reach triple digits. Jalen Hurts just didn’t have a chance against Bowles’ unit. It felt like last year’s defense, which fueled the Bucs on a wild-card run to the Lombardi Trophy. And given how depleted the defending champs are on offense right now, there’s no overstating the significance here.

Just a stellar job by a fine coach who deserves another opportunity in the big chair. I’d love to see the well-respected Bowles get a second crack at being an NFL head coach. And this time, unlike in New York, can we give the man a quarterback?

Now buried in the above NFL.com item is a major truth: As beat up as the Bucs offense is, it will need Bowles’ defense to play lights for a shot to return to the Super Bowl. Every game, not just here or there.

If the Bucs defense can keep a game close, who is going to bet against Mr. Seven Rings late in the game? If the Bucs are going to Los Angeles for the Super Bowl, it will likely be on the backs of the defense.

    adam schien is a dufus

    Oh, I know! Go BUCS!!

  3. Big pirate Says:

Wish he’d hold out for another year and take over for Arians

  4. Beejezus-belt Says:

All that said and Schein absolutely gives the Bucs zero chance against the Rams.

  5. PSL Bob Says:

I’m not counting out the offense just yet. If Jensen can play, we have a fighting chance. Our odds diminish if both Wirfs and Jensen are out.

  6. Robert Says:

    What pirate said…….

then again, once TB leaves this place will be another dumpster fire.

  7. Caleb lee Says:

Funny he says “we all knew they weren’t for real” while all except one of the CBS “experts” picked Philly for the win, including Schein.

  8. Francisco Guzman Says:

This could be his last go around as a coach. He needs to go a place where he can win. A good situation.

  9. Francisco Guzman Says:

I hope bowles is focus on the game plan on how to stop the rams.

  10. Biff Barker Says:

Bowles can pretty much pick his team but it wont be a team like the Jets or Jags.
Cant see him making a bad move. If he’s anxious to jump ship, it means the Bucs head coaching job someday isn’t a sure thing.

  11. Listnfrmafar Says:

Who cares? I just hope the D shows the confidence they had last Sunday, unfortunately there were still receivers wide open that Hurts didn’t hit.

  12. Adrnagy Says:

Bowles will be perfecct in miami or denver

  13. Listnfrmafar Says:

This season is over fans, what players want to play or listen to coaches trying to jump ship? I get BL he needs to get his gig before Brady leaves or he’ll be exposed for what he is.

  14. Steven007 Says:

Yes list, the season is almost over, hopefully in about several more weeks. What’s your point? This happens absolutely every year and always with assistants who are under contract with teams in the playoffs. Do you watch football? Do you actually follow the game? This is how things work.

  15. Swampbuc Says:

Bowles definitely deserves another chance. Pete Carroll and Bill Belicheat were both fired after their first NFL gigs.

Belicheat is hands down “best ever” NFL coach and Carroll is in the Top 10, arguably. Not to say that Bowles is either of those two but dismissing him because of his experience with the Jitz is simply unfair.

  16. Listnfrmafar Says:

Steven, yes I do, I’ve watched the Patriots for years and those coaches always waited until after the season. This is NOT familiar to me.

  17. Bucky23 Says:

Sorry, but this is off topic. Coming to Tampa for my first Bucs game this weekend from Illinois. Going to buy tickets, what is the best section to sit? 100 level? Club level? Thanks in advance. Go bucs!

  18. Francisco Guzman Says:

I just hope Bowles’s scheme is not soft on sunday. You have to play physical against the rams.

  19. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Bowles deserves another shot…..but I hope he chooses to stay and be our HC when BA leaves…..

BL would be questionable without Brady…

  20. Cobraboy Says:

Very true: the fate of the Bucs run lies with the defense.

  21. Steven007 Says:

List, following the game is more than just following the Pats.

  22. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Not saying our 2 coordinators are not any good, but I really don’t think either one is going anywhere.

  23. Listnfrmafar Says:

Steven, I know the proccess, I also believe in ethics the two Dallas coaches I think Morre & Quinn opted to wait until after the season. True professionals. The teams that wanted them understood. I appears Bucs coaches jump at any team that inquires. I guess it’s just part of the BA lackadaisical culture.

  24. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

Bucky, I sit in the 300’s and I love it. High, but not too high and you can see everything develop. That being said, almost any seat other than the corners of the end zone (which aren’t THAT bad) are good. Hit me up on Twitter if you want a good place to tailgate. @DRobLewis

  25. Richard Weeks Says:

List I see you are running your pie hole again..
If you hate the buccaneers so much become a Jacksonville team

  26. Listnfrmafar Says:

Richard, I don’t dislike the Bucs at all. I don’t care for the coaching staff. Any coach that allowed Wirfs to get back into that game is clueless. Bucs were kicking their arses. Just another example of incompetence. FYI when Bucs lose Brady, Bucs will become Jacksonville.

  27. ManzielMadness Says:

    List,

The Pats have had multiple coaches interview for head coaching positions during the playoffs through the years. Just a quick google search can confirm that during the 2017 season Matt Patricia interviewed with the Lions (1st interview Jan. 5, 2018) and the Giants (also on Jan. 5). The Giants also interviewed Josh McDaniels the same day (Jan. 5), along with interviewing twice with colts (second interview on Jan 26, couldn’t find when the first one occurred). Pats made it to the super bowl and lost that year to the eagles (Feb. 4).

  28. Jmarkbuc Says:

Lstnfrmafar is the Tmax of Ndog’s…🥱

  29. Defense Rules Says:

Listnfrmafar … ‘This season is over fans, what players want to play or listen to coaches trying to jump ship? ‘

Most of these defensive players have played for Todd Bowles for 3 years now. They all KNOW their best chance of winning & moving on to the next round lies in following his lead. I’d venture to say that every one of them is pulling for him to get a head coaching gig and would do anything they can to make it happen. In case you hadn’t noticed, these guys are professionals who also understand the business aspect of coaching & playing.

  30. tampabayallday Says:

Let Bowles go, if he falters he will be back in tampa in no time

  31. Anonymous Says:

Why are you here? All you do is criticize and predict gloom and doom. You are never right yet you keep spouting as if you have a clue. Your Patriots have yet to make the playoffs without Brady but you act as if they are all that.

There goes Listn again!🤦‍♂️ Keep ’em coming man. I need a good laugh after a hard day’s work

  34. Greg Says:

@listn the more you post the more if possible of a troll you come across as. You said you played D-! ball? Sorry but have to call you on that as someone that is experienced would not spew the uneducated venom you do. You are not a fan and someone with experience would not through coaches under the bus like you do with out really having context. You are lost as your posts indicate. This is like the guy that gets pulled over for being a dumb as# and says I only had two beers and had a twelve pack. Meaning you say D-1 player where you meant was D-3 trainer?

  35. Greg Says:

    ^throw

  36. Listnfrmafar Says:

Geez, why attack me? I have my opinion you all have yours. I don’t verbally attack you all. If you all believe playing Wirf, Gronk, LVD etc while hurt is acceptable so be it. My opinion is just that, my intent is not to irritate anyone but apparently many of you have thin skin and take my comments personally. I will leave this site which will make many of you happy. Good Luck this weekend. GO BUCS!

  37. Listnfrmafar Says:

LOLOLOLOLOLOL List… You are getting what you are giving, get real.

Maybe try to have a decent day for once.

    GO BUCS!!!!!!!

  39. Buczilla Says:

Bowles is more than deserving. What he has done this year despite all of our injuries is nothing less than astonishing. Nfl coaches almost always get a second chance and it’s time that Bowles got his.

The media is in love with Sean McVay, but having excellent taste in women does not make you a great coach. What is the big draw for this guy? He lost to a far less talented Patriots team in the Superbowl and has a good coaching record, but this dude is not the second coming of Bill Walsh as of today. Numbnuts have the audacity to say that he’s better than Arians? In what gosh damn universe is that happening?

Feed the trolls and they’ll keep biting. Just saying….😜

  40. SlyPirate Says:

    I LOVE THIS …

When all eyes are on you, and money/opportunity is on the line, you do more to shine. Let’s see Bowles and his defense crush the competition to a Super Bowl win.

  41. Buccos Says:

Listnfrmfar you are a complete dooshbag. Please go back up North where you belong. Get back on your sorry ass Pats website!
