Tom Brady Explains Antonio Brown’s Sharp Return

December 27th, 2021

Before Antonio Brown’s breakout game yesterday as the Bucs’ go-to receiver, Brown was last seen on the field in Week 6 when he messed up his ankle.

The furniture-hurling, bicycle-throwing future Hall of Fame receiver amazingly didn’t miss a beat and the Panthers knew he would be Tom Brady’s No. 1 target.

So how does a guy pull that off, especially at 33 years old?

Brady was asked that question this evening on SiriusXM Mad Dog Radio.

“A lot of toughness, resilience, mental toughness from him,” Brady said of Brown’s impressive return. “And, you know, what he fought back through with a pretty significant ankle injury which, you know, no one really knew at the time what it was going to be. Everyone was just proud of him being out there and performing the way that he did.

“It’s no easy task, you know, to sit out for two months and then come back and play at the level that he played at yesterday. I think us practicing every day for eight weeks is a challenge to go out there and perform well just because it’s a tough game. And he went out there and he played great, caught a bunch of really important balls for us and we’re going to need it here down the stretch.”

Brown’s play yesterday truly speaks for itself. He was sharp, and he can and should get sharper.

With 87 yards receiving on Sunday against the Jets, Brown will pass Brandon Marshall and move into 23rd on the all-time receiving yards list.

If AB was on the same page as Brady all game long, he would have probably had at least two more catches. Also if Johnson had blocked on that one short pass he would have had quite a few more yards. Should bode well moving forward.

  2. HC Grover Says:

There were many here among us wanted to dump AB. Over a stupid test. I was not among them. Now ya know why.

  3. ModHairKen Says:

AB is awesome. Especially the news conference after the game.

  4. KnoxvilleBuc Says:

What a talent AB is. Only a handful of WR’s in history have his type of quickness in/out of breaks. Absolute head case but an immense talent. Every team needs one and I’m glad we’ve got him

  5. Buczilla Says:

Brown is an all time great at wide receiver and would have put up hall of fame numbers in any era so I’m not too surprised that he looked good.

  6. Long John Says:

    All praise the great HC.

  7. Rod Munch Says:

Did anyone think he wasn’t going to look good? It honestly didn’t even enter my mind has I started him in every league I had him in.

  8. Jersey buc Says:

AB had all kind of separation yesterday. Gilmore didn’t stand a chance. Got back right in time that’s for sure

  9. Rayjay1122 Says:

I was happy to have AB from day 1. Just like Sapp, not the greatest examples of men of good character but greats on the gridiron.

    ModHairKen,

His response was great to a long winded and annoying reporter in Jenna Lane! How many times is she going to bring that up at various news conferences?! I get the vibe that she annoys BA too! Next question…

  11. unbelievable Says:

    lol Rod my thoughts exactly.

Say what you want about his off field stupidity, but the dude is all-in as far as football goes once the pads come on. Unbelievable athlete.

  12. crazybucs_CL Says:

there were two local reporters not happy with AB outstanding performants:
    RS and JL.
@ bucs YT channel watch Mr. Brown “shutting down” big mouth JL agenda.
    Way to go Sir!

  13. D-Rome Says:

Agreed Rod. There wasn’t a DFS lineup I created yesterday that didn’t have him in there.

It’s no surprise. They are members of the Branch COVIDian cult.

  15. Gordon Brook Says:

I have made many comments concerning Atonio Brown, that are all positive. He has been an outstanding wide receiver in NFL football, whenever he has played. The great Tom Brady admires and respects Antonio Brown because he knows that he is outstanding. Tom Brady was very upset with the Patriots for removing the great Antonio Brown after one game due to negative comments from some news agencies. We need his outstanding ability to win everything including the Super Bowl so let’s respect him for the great things he has done for us!

  16. DaveLizdas Says:

AB is like if Jerry Rice had a little brother who was a crackhead. Great receiver, POS human being. Covid-19 has killed millions of people. Hearing all of the mouth breathers pretend it’s not real is hysterical but what you’d expect.

I knew a guy who thought it was a hoax and it killed him. When your Doctor tells you to go the hospital….might want to follow their advice.

    Keep thinning the herd y’all!!!

  17. SOEbuc Says:

AB and Brady are 💯and 6-0 with AB. Another vet all-star returning to his prime.

  18. NeverGIVEup Says:

He has taken the real CG under his wing. AB the coach, mentor and inspiration!

    Go Figure!

  19. Listnfrmafar Says:

Dave, what’s that have to do with Antonio Brown???

  20. NeverGIVEup Says:

And lets not act like we havent likely seen the other CG play his last game in Tampa.

  21. Buc king Says:

F covid and f all you brown haters..eat a fat one and swallow it…your sheep.

  22. Eddie Marz Says:

Buc King sounds like your a hater.

  23. DBS Says:

Sounds more like he is about 12 years old.

  24. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

I’ve said it in this forum numerous times. It’s nice to watch a Bucs game expecting to win and 70%-80% of the time, we are right. I spent 40+ years in both the Sombrero and Ray Jay watching wonderful men of character get rag dolled like a pinata while opposing fans came into OUR house and ridiculed us for supporting the team where we lived.

I give zero f%^&s about what AB does off the field as long as he plays at a high level. I’m sorry if that offends Jenna Laine and Rick Stroud.

  25. captiva jim Says:

Only thing better than his game –was how he managed that press conference ….

  26. Rod Munch Says:

Rob In Land O Lakes – right there with you. I don’t care what their character is if they’re winning. I mean it’s nice to have a high class guy like Brady, but just like with Brooks, he still needed Sapp to win it all, and I don’t care how many people Sapp told off when they bugged him for autographs while he was eating.

  27. Sparky Says:

While everyone is on here stroking ABs dong, have any of you nut swingers considered the fact that if he hadn’t pulled the vax card stunt he would have been available to play in the Saints game? He hurt this team.

  28. Buc king Says:

Maybe sheep was a little bit off…how bout lab rats…I’m ecstatic that browns on the team we should sign him 3 more years … by far the most complete wide receiver on the team

  29. MikeRalstott Says:

I’ve been debating whose jersey to buy this season, and I’ve decided, given his smart move on the false flag flu as well as his stellar play, it’s gonna be number 81.

  30. lambeau Says:

AB is an amazing example of how a person can be be incredibly disciplined with a tremendous work ethic, and then let himself at times violate simple decency–what a complicated lunatic.

  31. John Olmstead Says:

Maybe the media should focus on the known pedophiles in their organizations rather than how a professional athlete, whose body is their living, chooses to manage their own health care!

  32. Biff Barker Says:

Jenna Laine works for the 4 letter network. She’s gotta make her woke quota. I just wish she could get to the point in the first 5 minutes.

She’s never had one single original thought in her head.

    Nuff said.
