Shaq Daddy

Shaq Barrett

Joe loves when star players start balling late in a season.

Chris Godwin is Exhibit A on the offense, and Bucs sacks king Shaq Barrett is sizzling on defense.

Today, Shaq ticked off quarterback hits Nos. 16, 17, 18, 19 and 20 of the season on Bills gunslinger Josh Allen.

Shaq’s 1 1/2 sacks this evening left him with nine on the season. And he’s in full explosion mode with 4 1/2 sacks in his last three games.

Joe feels comfortable saying Shaq is having a better regular season than he did last year, and that’s an awesome sign since Shaq signed a monster free agent contract after playing on the franchise tag in 2020.

You just never know how a player will react with all that money, and Shaq has proven to be a true professional.

Most important, Joe is fired up to see Shaq thriving because Jason Pierre-Paul is playing like a shell of himself with a busted up shoulder, and rookie outside linebacker Joe Tryon-Shoyinka is raw and seems to have a hit a rookie wall.

Tryon-Shoyinka even had a late-game loaf today that left Joe with a broken remote control and a hand wrapped in ice. Joe’s suggestion for the rookie? Watch Shaq’s hustle and learn from it.

Scrambling qbs can be infuriating. Shaq played well, especially in the 1st half. Props to Devin White as well. He didn’t play his best game, but he showed up in the backfield with 1.5 sacks, a TFL and a couple hits.

  2. Upstate NY BUC Says:

Shaq looked smooth today!!! Made a lot of nice moves. JPP played a lot better then last few weeks … didn’t hear Vita’s name at all. Shaq has definitely turned it on !

  3. Tampabaybuscfan Says:

Josh Allen is a true stud…..very tough guy…..hard to bring down & tackle….

  4. Jim Says:

Almost lost. Poor coaching. Wake up fans!

  5. DaBux Says:

I don’t care what anyone does in the regular season. It’s what they do in the postseason that matters. THOSE STATS matter.

Good to see #58 starting to crank it up.

  6. ModHairKen Says:

Almost ain’t, Jim. Go back to Buffalo.

  7. Alanbucsfan Says:

Some of those stunts by Barrett to the inside allowed Allen to get outside and make some big runs. Great 2nd half by Bills – they played with alot of energy and creative play calling. Bucs seemed to have no energy in 2nd half and some of the play calling was downright idiotic ( pass in flat to Fournette for 7 yard loss) but Brady came through on the overtime 94 yard drive.

  8. Bucfan Says:

    Jim,
You are a fool bro. You expect the Bucs to blow out every opponent and that just isn’t even close to being reasonable. Go cheer for the jaguars!!

I think the defense is getting its legs under them. Starting to look better. Give them another month. And when AB comes back on offense, they are going to explode. Brady is getting more confident in Evans and Godwin. If perriman could run routes and gain Brady’s trust, he could be the best #4 in the league. If we stay healthy, we are going to be tough to beat in the playoffs.

You stupid f#ck, the other team has great players, coaches and a will to win too.

    Go fK yourself

  13. Craig Says:

Now that our DBs are starting to get better, Shaq doesn’t have to drop into coverage. He is a pretty good outside backer, but a better pass rusher.

JPP may be tackling like a shell of himself, but he did a lot on keeping Josh Allen from rolling right, as some would say, that is his better side.

It also gave Shaq all those shots at Allen.

As they say. it is a team game, and maybe today’s game will pull the Bucs together. Bills pass defense almost pulled the trick.

  14. Austin Says:

Josh Allen almost bear us by himself, big props

  15. Coburn Says:

Yeah would be nice to see JTS get his legs back under him and get last that wall

  16. unbelievable Says:

Agree about JTS. He was showing some flashes a few weeks ago but was MIA today. Looked slow and out of position too many times.

  17. Rod Munch Says:

Tryon is a rookie who didn’t play football since 2019 before this year. Cut the kid some slack. He’s shown promise at times, and to me, as a rookie, that’s generally good enough. He’s a 2nd round pass rusher, not a 1st round RB where you expect them to be nearly as good as they’re going to get in year 1.

  18. adam from ny Says:

    man oh man…

in the first half them boyz were eating !

  19. Jonny Says:

Shaq wreaked havoc in the first half. I am happy our offense dominated that half as well helping get that big lead.

  20. westernbuc Says:

Shaq earning his paycheck. Good. If he keeps it up from here on out then look out.

We’re going to need to add depth to the d-line in the draft. Even if Suh or a healthy JPP returns. We’ve had a hard time generating pressure at times

  21. Bobby M. Says:

Good game for Shaq…we need him and White to ball out with JPP limited. Our defense is in a tough spot with injuries. The Bills went directly after JTS on one of those designed runs for Allen…..and he gashed us for a TD. This has been my point all season with JPP injured but still playing…JPP holds his assignment, particularly on runs. JTS is too eager to do something that he either over shoots or takes terrible angles.

  22. Robert Says:

No one will mention that everytime Josh Allen scrambled out of the pocket he ran to the left, away from Shaq every time.

  23. orlbucfan Says:

JTS is a rookie drafted 32nd in the first round. Cut him some slack. JPP needs to voluntarily sit on the bench. He’s old, hurt and it’s showing even on the radio.

  24. Reach87 Says:

Shaq is hustling…covering…setting his edge…enabling pressure with the TE games…closing down the line on runs to the other side. He is a leader on the Defense. Very curious to know how he grades out so far. Kudo’s to Shaq. Glad we have him. Go Bucs!
