Report: Chris Godwin Avoids Major Knee Injury

December 19th, 2021

Update.

This has Joe breathing a little easier.

Tonight Chris Godwin had a scary injury when he was hit at the right knee in what initially appeared to be a hyperextension. After walking off the field under his own power and running on the sidelines to test his knee, Godwin initially was labeled “questionable” to return. Then he was ruled out at halftime.

Per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, it seems a reliable Bucs source says Godwin appears to have an MCL sprain.

Now there is no way Joe can go after the slimy Saints for being dirty, as much as Joe would love to call the slimy Saints dirty. Anyone who knows anything about good tackling knows you go low. In some cases, the lower the better.

Joe honestly does not believe the Saints were trying to take out Godwin’s knees.

And the NFL *wants* tacklers to go low. Dudes get fined, penalized and thrown out of games for going high, even when the collisions are a ballcarrier’s fault for ducking into a tackler’s head.

The NFL doesn’t want headhunting so defenders are very smart from a fundamentals standpoint and a penalty standpoint. They go low.

    Thank goodness

Sadly, this is all I care about. Losing the battle is one thing, but losing Godwin et all is losing the war.

Antonio Brown is looking like a brilliant move right now.

    A multimillion dollar injury

    Also, welcome back AB!! #openarms

  8. cmurda Says:

Let’s hope this is true. In the grand scheme of things, this is far more important than this game.

  9. FrankPillow Says:

12 threw him him right into that hit. Shades of the Gronk throw/injury. Brutal.

  10. Bucfan593 Says:

Bull! it was dirty intentional and premeditated. They wanted revenge for last year’s playoff game and for Winston! The saints have always been dirty!

  11. Bucfan593 Says:

They played the whole game with nothing to lose and absolutely intended to hurt people tonight! The refs should also be investigated!

  12. Swampbuc Says:

Shut out. Maybe the Bucs depth really sucks worse than the Lions.

  13. SOEbuc Says:

I remember a Bucs.com interview before when he said those severe hits to the legs are unexceptional and be a flag. Collinsworth made it clear.

  14. ModHairKen Says:

Well now they have an idea of Godwin’s worth to the team. Pay the man.

  15. SOEbuc Says:

*Brady said those severe hits to the legs are unexceptional and should be flag.

  16. Posey99 Says:

They need this. Too many Instagram story’s and commercial flashy BS. Focus in fellas. This was a good thing even though we are all pissed.

  17. SOEbuc Says:

The no call delay of game was about -3 seconds.

    Agreed!
How many drives ended on a PI non call?

  19. godlovesbucs Says:

Bad reffing, bad playing, bad bounces, bad effort, bad luck. One of the uglier games played by Tampa since Brady has put on the pewter.

Small Ray of sunshine, the 2 super bowl seasons we were swept by the saints.

  20. Kentucky Buc Says:

Might not be illegal but definitely dirty.

  21. Buc1987 Says:

Well they showed him running on the sidelines ….he looked fine to me…

  22. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Joe, they absolutely were targeting knees. They did it to Lenny, too. Gronk caught one over the middle and knew the low blow was coming. He stopped on a dime and Saints defender ate dirt. Blatant dirty play and I expect nothing less from the Saints.

  23. Greg Says:

At the game and #14 was running on the sideline pretty well but obviously no reason to put him back out there in that crap show!

  24. Buc1987 Says:

Greg…it might not have been a crap show had they thrown im back out there…as needed.

  25. adam from ny Says:

seemed a lttle like bounty-gate for a couple of quarters there…

for a brief period of the game, about 20 min, they were playing to hurt bucs on tackles…

not giving a fugg because they thought their season was basically over tonight…

even the saints perked up, realizing they have a shot to actually win the game…

initially they were “”playing to hurt, then it shifted to “play to win”, once the bucs had no points for such a long time

Legalizing sports betting, and then looking the other way when those gambling houses become big NFL sponsors = endorsing corruption.

That no-call was something the NFL would be embarrassed about in a just world.

  27. captivajim Says:

Yea –what about that no call on the 3 sec delay of game call ?? Why didn’t BA challenge??? Leflur challenged a ref no call on crows having 12 men on field at Rogers snap –he won & packers got free 5yds …..

    was BA watching ??

  28. steele Says:

I see that Godwin will miss the rest of the regular season. That’s not good at all.

  29. Daryl Green Says:

I have never seen a bunch of skilled athletes, who when they touch the turf
their hurt. Dab’s tackle hurt, catch a pass hurt.

  30. Daryl Green Says:

Every time 13 makes a catch, sideline hurt. We lose to the saints all the time
Because we are soft. Do we have good yes, but we are soft.

  31. Sumosam Says:

The Saints played to hurt people last night. No doubt about it. That was the goal. They are going to lose the division. This was their last hoorah this year.

  32. Eddie Marz Says:

Isn’t that what got Sean Payton suspended a few years back. Dirty plays, trying to take the opponents out with injuries. I think that’s their culture now. Nothing has changed. GOBUCS!

  33. BucsFan-88 Says:

The Saints season was on the line. Some hits were questionable but really their defense was very good and not enough time for Brady. The next game should be better!

  34. Mpv Says:

It seems very strange that the saints knocked off Godwin, Evans and Lenny but nobody else. Gronk would have been the next victim if he wasn’t missing passes. Sean Payton sitting at home gives a I wasn’t there excuse. Funny with a movie about bountygate being made. Just saying.
