“Now He Gets To Stay On The Field”

December 28th, 2021

Sunday hero Cyril Grayson

Wide receiver Cyril Grayson will not be a one-hit wonder, Bucco Bruce Arians proclaimed today.

With Mike Evans, Chris Godwin and Breshad Perriman all out Sunday against the Panthers, it was Grayson who not only got to start but he played 80 percent of Tampa Bay’s offensive snaps.

Arians said on his official Buccaneers show that for 2 1/2 years Grayson, the former track stud at Louisiana State University, has worked as hard or harder than any other player on the roster. Joe is confident that’s why Grayson is still in Tampa, even after a Tom Brady deep shot bounced off his facemask early last season.

Arians was stunned Grayson was caught from behind on his 62-yard reception Sunday, but Arians didn’t attribute that to a lack of effort. He speculated that Grayson has lost his track-man speed.

Regardless, Grayson’s hair-on-fire blocking impressed everyone paying attention, especially his head coach.

“Now he gets to stay on the field,” Arians said.

So for now it seems the Bucs have sort of traded Chris Godwin for Grayson. Not a fair deal, but not as bad as many would have said a week ago.

Watch the play the defense was already running full blast at him while he had to slow up waiting for it by the time the ball got to him. The guy has longer legs than Grayson he simply ran him down

That was a beautiful play. I’ll ask again cos I’m not an educated fan regarding penalties. Would that be considered an OPI?

  3. Beeej Says:

At this point, if we lost Godwin to FA, who would play the slot?

  4. godlovesbucs Says:

Negative o the OPI. you can only have pass interference on a passing play

Wow, hope he’s not a one hit wonder, expectations awful high.

It’s like the Bucs have two sets of WRs.

Thanks for the info, god…. Checked the Miami-Aints score: 20-3. Har-har-har. But, that’s bad luck for CG14. Torn ACL and having it surgically repaired will affect his FA status.

long overdue… Grayson earned TB’s trust in the 1st slimy game when he scored 50 yd TD pass.. He is Far more driven-to-succeed than Darden .. he caught for 81 yrds against Panthes –hopefully he gets 100+ in next game

  9. firethecannons Says:

wasn’t it actually a block in the back? too many penalties called anyway

  10. Hodad Says:

He looks like an A.B. clone. Size, speed wise, hopefully he’s picked up on how A.B. runs routes, and gets open. Hope he keeps balling given this chance.

At least we get to see the guy who replaces CG before we let him walk. Even though we have already seen him play his last game in a Bucs uniform.

THE REAL CG is now in the house. AB has taken him under his wing. This guy will be top shelf slot receiver for years to come.

  12. buc15 Says:

Godwin isn’t going anywhere fellas. Grayson would be AB’s replacement for next year. AB isn’t going to sign for cheap going forward

  13. Eddie Marz Says:

Antonio Brown not playing on Bucs? They’ll find a way to keep him. He’s a keeper.

  14. ClodHopper Says:

This sounds like Arians is talking to Scotty, Johnson, and Darden as much as he is about Grayson.

  15. Bucsfan20 Says:

Grayson is what Miller should’ve been coming into the season, but Grayson saw a small opportunity and took it a mile not only on showcasing his speed and catching ability but also incredible effort on run blocking.

  16. Masterlock majic Says:

    Its a pretty deep team..no losing..going forward
