Longtime Bills Beat Writer Predicts Bucs Victory

December 11th, 2021

Smiling in Tampa

Those who study the Bills for a living seem to think the Bucs will be high-fiving and smiling about 7:45 p.m. tomorrow.

Bills legend Thurman Thomas says 2021 Bills football isn’t fun. Sal Maiorana, the 30-plus-seasons beat writer of the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle, and a noted author of many books, sees the Bucs beating Buffalo 34-28.

“… the Bills defense is compromised against Brady and the Bucs passing game without [cornerback Tre’Davious White] White. That’s a big problem and you know Brady is going to be attacking [backup Dane] Jackson whenever he can. And let’s not forget, [cornerback] Levi Wallace has played pretty well, but he’s still a fair nondescript player who can be taken advantage of. And while the defensive numbers and rankings remain great, I can’t get past the fact that the only team with a legitimate offense who the Bills defeated was the Chiefs.

Joe’s glad Maiorana mentioned the Chiefs. Buffalo beat them during Kansas City’s early-season meltdown. The Chiefs were 2-2 when they faced Buffalo and were blown out 38-20.

Buffalo (7-5) has failed a lot of big tests this season, and now they’re banged up on a short week. Joe is expecting the Bucs to be the better team.

  2. Bird Says:

    Stoked to watch tomorrow

    Tough game
We need the pulse of ndog
“Get me a strong D- best place my bum”

  3. Medicated Pete Says:

Everyone in the Buffalo media (sports or not) has an Italian last name. What’s going on up there #BillsMafia ?

  4. Ben green Says:

Not to worry yucks fans, my Patriots effectively destroyed the bills desire to play football. Get up on them early, and they’ll collectively urinated down the leg. Josh Allen has a million dollar arm, and a ten cent head. So long as your defensive coordinator muck up the thing, they should win easily. I bet before last Monday night, the bills were feeling pretty good. This must be like a nightmare come true. They reigned over the division for one year, with no fans to see it. BlahahHa

  5. Listnfrmafar Says:

Belichick and Brady have had their way with the Bill’s for 20 yrs and finally the Bill’s were loving life now that the dynamic due had split up the Bill’s thought it was their turn. It was for one short season a covid one at that. Now the defending AFC east champions just got their arses spanked by Belichick they have to go into Tampa and take on Tommy Boy. It sucks to be them, I guess it’s back to the outside looking in for the Bills.

  6. Casual Observer Says:

Fournette may continue to shine. He is running very well and has become one of the best pass-receiving backs in the league. Big game for him tomorrow.

  7. E.Vi. Says:

BILLS LOL. THEY BARELY BEAT THE JAGUARS THEY LOST TO THE WORST TEAMS BARELY BEAT OTHER TEAMS. I WANT TO KNOW WHAT IS SO SPECIAL ABOUT THE BILLS?? PLAYING THE BILLS IS LIKE PLAYING THE TEXANS. THE BILLS ARE DONE AND WERE DONE THEIR NOT EVEN GOING TO MAKE THE PLAYOFFS. THE BUCS WE GO ON THE ROAD AND BEAT A REALLY GOOD COLTS TEAM THAT WAS ON FIRE AND COLTS ARR 100 TIMES BETTER THAN BILLS IF THEY HAD A GOOD QB THEY WOULD BE TEAM TO BEAT. THAN BUCS GO SMOKE ATLANTA ON THE ROAD WHICH IM PRETTY SURE ATLANTA PLAYED HARD. NOW THE NEXT VICTIM THE BUCS SMOKE THE BILLS 48-17. WE GET HOME GAMES IN PLAYOFFS NOBODY IS GOING TO WANT TO COME PLAY US…

  8. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

Actually E.Vi, Jax beat them. Notwithstanding that, if the Bucs defense doesn’t bring it’s “A” game, the Bucs could be the ones getting blown out.

  9. Benisgay Says:

Bengay, these Yucks beat your Patriots just a few months ago. If we are the Yucks and we beat you, what does that make your team?

  10. BucsCoolade Says:

    Sorry for this prediction..

Bills are pissed off. They are angry along with their coqch.. Having lost miserable game Monday it is still fresh in their minds.

Their inconsistent play this season has alternated week to week. W-L-W-L.. so this week I expect a bounce back. Also they need this game more absolutely than brady .. who BtW beat the bills 95% of the time for 20 years. Aka even more pissed.

The concern for me is the strategy to attack brady as a means to change the game.. by knocking him to the sidelines. We shall see but if ever the situation was RIPE.. this is it.. IMO

  11. BillyBucco Says:

But their will was broken in half.
You got a team that doesn’t know if they can win vs a team that expects to.
Could be close for a while but eventually their CBs will break without White.

This Bucs team is just rounding into form with Gronk back.
    AB in 2 weeks.
    Lookout

That’s why the NFL is already listing 5 teams who could beat them.
The Bills aint one of them.

  12. Corndog Says:

    Championship play book
    Win all home games
Win all games you should win
Win all of your close games
When you get on a roll , just keep
    Winning
Most of all pound that ROCK!!!

  13. Ben green Says:

Run the ball and pick your spots in the passing game. The bills are a modern NFL defense, which means they’re built to stop the pass. They had 10 and sometime 11 guys at or near the line, and still couldn’t stop the Patriots. It wasn’t until late into the third quarter, that they decided to gap shoot. When other teams give you a blueprint, follow it. The bills D is designed to stop an offense like the bucs, star corner out or not. Don’t play into it. Pound them with the run, and commit to it. Then Tommy can pick them apart with play pass, checkdowns, and the occasional back shoulder. If they get pass happy, the bills have a great chance. They’re already demoralized, and have proven that they don’t have the personel for a street fight.

  14. Izod Says:

Has anyone seen how many passing yards/game the Bucs “D” has given up this year? The Bills potent offense got stymied by the Evil Genius last week, I sure don’t expect the same against us.

  15. Ben green Says:

The Patriots have a good defense, but the weather conditions made it nearly impossible to throw effectively and consistently. The bills problem is that they can’t run, or defend the run. As pass happy as the league has become, it’s still important to keep teams honest. Y’all can thank Brady for that. If ammonia brain had his druthers, they’d pass sixty times a week. Ben would go light nickel and spygate the hell outta Allen. It’s demoralizing when a defense does everything correct, and he runs for first downs.
