Lavonte David, Antoine Winfield Have Lisfranc Sprains

Lavonte David will not require surgery.
That was the good news from Bucco Bruce Arians tonight on SiriusXM NFL Radio.
Joe reported yesterday that David will miss the rest of the regular season and Week 1 of the playoffs because of his bad foot, injured late Sunday against the Saints. But Joe was told four weeks is optimistic.
Arians explained to a national audience that David has a “Lisfranc sprain” that will be treated with rest and rehab rather than surgery. He also added that Antoine Winfield, Jr., has the same injury.
The word “Lisfranc” is never what you want to hear when it comes to an athlete. Recovery is tricky and you can read more details here.
Joe has no idea what David might be able to take/inject to get himself on the field for the playoffs, but Joe’s willing to wager David will do whatever it takes if doctors allow it.

Not sure which is the heavier loss. Winfield or LVD. Both are key players that we will need to go deep in the playoffs. Considering how this late season has gone, I’m happy LVD got his much deserved ring when he did. He may never get another chance.

Another bizarre season with all the injuries and key players missing time because of covid right at the thick of some playoff implication games, possibly to have an effect on the playoffs.

If they can repeat its gotta be one of the greatest ever in any sport. The way this team has won as many games as they have is impressive. The bad thing though, if they don’t repeat how much of this team decides to stay and how many do the Bucs kick down the road. It’s amazing how much the extra playoff and super bowl games take a toll on their bodies. I’m starting to understand why no one wanted to play the extra game this year. That window is gonna shut fast on the Bucs unless they start pulling a belicheat and getting rid people a little early and drafting better.

Too many injuries to key players. Lady luck turned her back on the Bucs this year. They should still make the playoffs with their defense but then injuries on offense will probably kill their SB chances. How weird how luck can change so dramatically. Feeling really sad for the guys who have been injured and for the rest of the team as well. They totally deserved better.

I think the training staff and sports scientists for this team suck- every year it’s hamstrings- a training issue- what now? Bad equipment management? Wrong cleats? 2 with same issue?

Terrible.. horrible luck this year.. What are the odds of two players on the same team, on the same side of the ball, getting the same obscure injury, at the same time? Weird s..t like this only happens to the Bucs
