Kudos Bucs, But This Isn’t The Real “Hat And T-Shirt Game”

December 26th, 2021

Bigger goals.

Joe can hear his old man screaming at him, “It’s not a hat, it’s a cap!”

So yeah, today the Bucs finally won their Cap and T-Shirt Game, or as Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians would say, “Hat and T-Shirt.”

And Joe honestly doesn’t give a crap.

Oh sure, it’s awesome the Bucs finally won the NFC South. It was 13 too-long years, man! But honestly, the only Cap and T-Shirt Game Joe cares about comes in February and will be played in Los Angeles.

Joe thinks it is awesome the Bucs have clinched at least one home game for the playoffs. Maybe with some luck there will be more than one. But for Joe, this is all a little anticlimactic.

Maybe because Joe is still down in the dumps over Chris Godwin? Maybe because Joe is now worried about Shaq Barrett? Maybe it is because Mike Evans and Lavonte David and Playoff Lenny are dinged up?

Joe is happy about the Bucs winning a division, make no mistake. But there are much bigger fish to fry.

Let’s wear new gear in February while the confetti is falling from the SoFi Stadium roof!

Now it’s time to root hard for the Cowboys and Saints to lose.

  2. cmurda Says:

Get over it Joe. It’s football. You have to fight the War with the remaining horses. Coaching staff gets to earn their money.

  3. cmurda Says:

Lame call by the refs when there was nothing there. What planet do these zebras reside on? Not even close to a hold. Anyway, great defense. Petty on Rhule to call timeouts and try to score at the end.

  4. BuccaneerScotty Says:

just enjoy winning the division and stop looking ahead!

  5. Jerry Says:

Probably anticlimactic because you realize the mountain still to climb. Probably end up having to play the Rams and Packers on the road. A boatload of injuries including now Shaq.

  6. firethecannons Says:

Shaq did not look bad–dude came back in for more after the injury–who does that and is hurt seriously?

  7. Swampbuc Says:

I’m still looking at 3 points over 6 quarters against two quality teams and wondering how the Bucs let the Saints shut their butts out at home when the division was on the line. That stain will and should remain. Pitiful.

  8. cmurda Says:

@Swamp. It was a clunker. It’s over. We just played a great game on every front. No regrets. I’m happy with this team. Last SB win we had a lackluster follow-up year. This time we won the division. No reason to complain.

  9. Oxycodoms Says:

How much of this was saints trying to get a better draft pick?

  10. Oxycodoms Says:

    Panthers i mean

  11. cmurda Says:

None of it Oxy. None of it. Why try to discredit a great win?

  12. WalkThePlank Says:

    GO BUCCANEERS!

  13. Listnfrmafar Says:

Swamparse, once again a TD in overtime points actually count in the NFL. And I guess 32 points today mean nothing? Anything new you can bitch about? This is getting old.

we could have gotten even more help if those blind refs had called that def holding on the Packers which would have put the Browns in FG range. It was an obvious hold that caused an int. Before the drama queen start strutting like a spring gobbler, i’d like to remind everyone that Mayfield threw 4 ints and STILL should have beat the Packers

I feel ya on this Joe.

We’ve been dealing with injuries all season long but they are really hitting some key guys. Not too mention we had multiple opportunities to more or less lock down the #2 if not be in contention for the #1 seed, that we simply blew with these bad losses to Washington and New Orleans.

The #5 seed will be a very talented NFC west team, and I’m concerned whether we’ll actually have the horses to not go one and done.

It was encouraging seeing AB back in form and Grayson / Vaughn stepping up bog time.

And of course we do need to recognize the Bucs finally being NFC South Champs. But yeah, it’s bittersweet for sure.

  16. orlbucfan Says:

Do I have this right? 12 sacks by the Defense in the last two games? Bucs lost one of them, too. This Defense is getting healthy again. That’s scary and a plus for us. Wow, and we won the NFC South!!!! Go Bucs!

  17. BuccaneerButters Says:

Alton, I watched that couldn’t believe it wasn’t called. I immediately told my Packers fans friends that they got away with one, they agreed fortunately. At this point, we just gotta deal with possibly getting the 2 seed.

  18. Paul Says:

Former Patriots fan, now loving Brady’s Bucs.
Cam Newton is not what he was. Doesn’t throw straight or well.
Rushing is not fun to watch. Good bye.

  19. Listnfrmafar Says:

Altron, once Bucs lost to Saints they had no chance at #1 seed unless Bucs won out and GB lost all 3 games. GB only lost 1 or 2 divisional games Bucs lost 4. Same goes for Dallas & Rams, Bucs have to win out and each of them have to lose one to get to #2 seed.

  20. stpetebucsfan Says:

I’m a Bucs fan. Hats and Tshirts don’t come that often around here so when we win 11 games and a Conference title it go all “Rare Earth”. “I just want to celebrate”.
