“I Missed One!”

December 16th, 2021

Richard Sherman (left) whiffed on this open field tackle of a Bills tight end with time running out. He talked about it this week.

Safety is a new role for Richard Sherman, and it showed on Sunday.

With Jordan Whitehead injured and Mike Edwards home staring at his phony vaccine card (Joe wonders if the Bucs returned it), Sherman is pitching in at safety.

Sherman said (in so many words) it takes time to not take angles like Sabby “The Goat” Piscitelli. He acknowledged Sunday’s gaffe shown in the screen shot above.

“I missed one!” he barked with a smile.

“That’s what I’ll work on this week in practice is just tracking. I still haven’t got the reps I’m looking for in terms of tracking and getting my body on people and being able to get my rhythm in that sense. That’s what I’ll be on this entire week, is just making sure that doesn’t happen again.”

Kudos to Sherman be calling it straight. He also said he’s looking forward to a post-career media gig so he can point out players that are screwing up.

It’s a safe bet Sherman may play a little safety Sunday night against New Orleans. And it’s a safe bet slimy Saints head coach Sean Payton knows Sherman is vulnerable in the open field.

Richard Sherman is a baller. He got us a pick. He will improve at safety for sure.

The man pointed the finger at himself. He also had the Interception. He is trying to help this team in anyway he can. Plus correct his mistakes. You can’t ask for anything more.

He is making himself an example of a bad secondary.

I believe he could turn out to be a stud safety if he still has any legs left. Size, smarts, ball skills, and instincts. That should do it.

He didn’t miss the pick. That’s all I’ve got to say.

Nothing different he’s been whiffing since he’s been here, plus everybody’s been whiffing on tackles that’s why we lead the league in missed tackles. On a not so funny note it seems even sucky teams have no problem tackling our players. Coaches need to come up with more imaginative ways of teaching how to tackle like greased pigs or calfs or something because normal ways ain’t working. Tired of seeing guys getting 5-10 extra yards because guys forgot how to wrap up.

I love Sherm and glad he’s with us even in his diminished capacity.

He might not be perfect at it, but he is better than any of the other warm bodies we have.

He will be a great coach, he is smart as hell and calls them as he sees them.

Seeing this live was hard to watch

Sherman is a warrior. I think he has a couple plays in him that will contribute to this team’s postseason success. Bowles will find a situation he excels at and will make use of him. I also like the move to safety for him as well.
