“He’ll Talk About The Percentages”

December 14th, 2021

Math talk

One man in the national media truly has intimate knowledge of the 2021 Buccaneers.

Joe’s referring to 2020 Bucs running back LeSean “Shady” McCoy, who has a new hosting career on SiriusXM NFL Radio. Not only does Shady know the Tampa Bay playbook and coaches, but he talks to current players.

This morning, Shady even referenced chatting with Rob Gronkowski two weeks ago. So Joe is always paying attention when Shady talks Bucs.

What piqued Joe’s interest today was Shady talking about how there is no doubt that Tom Brady will talk to the team this week about the Bucs’ opportunity to secure the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC. Brady will talk about the numbers following the Cardinals (10-3) losing to the Rams (9-4) last night, Shady said, and he’ll lay out the meaning of it all while still pushing a one-game-at-a-time mentality.

“Ok. boys listen,” is how Shady said Brady will begin addressing the team.

And Brady will start detailing the numbers that clearly show No. 1 seeds get to the Super Bowl far more often than No. 2 seeds.

“[Brady’s] not looking ahead, but it’s like a puzzle fitting together. … Having a bye, he’ll talk about the percentages of winning a championship. Smart dude, man. Smart guy,” Shady said.

For those wondering, No. 1 seeds get to the Super Bowl at more than double the rate of the No. 2 seed.

The Bucs, Cardinals and Packers are tied atop the NFC with 10-3 records. The Bucs currently sit at No. 2 when you factor in the conference tiebreakers.

  2. Medicated Pete Says:

Remember when Pete wanted the Saints to beat the Packers back in September? And everyone said Pete was stupid? Then Pete had to tell everyone that the #1 seed is the goal….the big picture???,???? Lol

Pete got his Astrophysicist degree from Trump university in 3 weeks. Don’t ever question Pete

Folks, mark today on your calendar, 12/14/2021. I’m cheering for the Ravens this weekend. That’s the 1st and last time i will say that hahahahha

  9. Thisisouryear!!! Says:

I think if we take care of business, we’ll get the #1 seed. Arizona has a tough schedule and Green Bay could drop any of the games other than Detroit. Chicago gave them a hard time for 3 quarters. The problem is that if we aren’t on our game, we could drop a couple games as well.

  10. Tampabaybuscfan Says:

I would bet not…..Brady is totally focused on the next game up…..he will be laser focused on New Orleans…..then Carolina, then the Jets, then Carolina again….

The Bucs do not control their own destiny on the #1 seed yet…..and may not if the Packers win out.

  11. PSL Bob Says:

I think the Packers and Cardinals have a greater chance of losing one of their last 4 games than we do. We can only hope it works out that way.

    TRIVIA:

The Bucs have one two Super Bowls never being the #1 seed. :-O

  13. Listnfrmafar Says:

The young guys on the Bucs can’t get ahead of themselves like Bucs fans are. NO has the Bucs number they need to play with the same intensity as they did first half of Bill’s.

  14. Jonny Says:

I don’t mind the Washington loss as much as I mind the saints loss. Heinecke is a decent QB with precision passing and scrambling abilities. We played flat the whole game on both sides. But the first saints loss was horrible. Brady played was reckless in key moments and our defense did not do a good job of controlling an offense led by the 3rd backup.

  15. Shecky Says:

The thing that still irks me about the WFT loss is the Bucs got to within 4 points with roughly 11:30 left then allowed the Heinecke to go on a 19-play, 10.30 drive to wrap up the game, which included converting a 3rd and 13. Brady should have seen the ball at least twice in those final minutes. Offense could’ve done more as well but the D really let us down in that 4th quarter.

  16. captivajim Says:

Packers could well loose to the Ravens-who certainly have motivation to win , or the Vikings who beat them a few wks ago.. Rogers has said his toe was worse after Bears game than coming off his bye wk and thats why he didn’t jog off the field after the game . Randall Cobb is out for the season–so they have some injuries as well…

  17. Hondo Says:

Both Washington and NO losses should never happened.

  18. 1sparkybuc Says:

This team has proven they can beat any team, and that most teams still have a shot at beating them. Tom Brady has shown to be mortal by having both hot and cold streaks, as can the defense. Injuries have been a major issue, and coaching has been questionable at times. We will win the division and Bird will continue to take potshots for the next decade or two. Beyond that, we’re just going to have to wait and see who shows up, and how they come together. An eighteen game season would be a mistake imo. A longer season means shorter careers for most of the players. Go Bucs.
