Healing Bucs!

Happy updates on three players

TWITTER update below (12:20 p.m.) – Yes, there is good news amidst all the doom and gloom and sadness of the Buccaneers losing Lavonte David, Chris Godwin, Leonard Fournette and Mike Evans to injuries.

Speaking last night on his Buccaneers Radio Network show, Bucco Bruce Arians talked about starting cornerback Jamel Dean and Super Bowl safeties Jordan Whitehead and Antoine Winfield, Jr.

First, Arians referenced how good Whitehead looked and played against New Orleans on Sunday, his first game back from a calf injury. “He brought it. I mean he was knocking the edge back every time.”

Dean didn’t play Sunday because of lingering “wooziness” from what was termed as an illness, but Arians was very upbeat about Dean’s likely return this Sunday at Carolina. Arians had the same positivity about Winfield (foot). “They look like they might all be back this week,” Arians said.

Included in that “all be back” mix is safety Mike Edwards, who was reactivated yesterday after a three-game suspension for turning a fraudulent vaccine card.

Combine that chatter with the great news on Devin White’s health and Joe Tryon-Shoyinka emerging, and maybe, just maybe, the Bucs defense can carry them through the first round of the playoffs and beyond.

Run the damn ball and dominate defensively is the only route to win it all now.

  2. JGhotier Says:

Devin has gotten up really slowly a few times the past several games though (and did once against the Saints as well in the 2nd half), so I’m still not sold on Devin being fully back yet, no matter what is said.

  3. August 1976 Buc Says:

B Blahak….”Run the damn ball and dominate defensively is the only route to win it all now”.

On a TB12 Team, that will never be the formula that is used.

Run more yes, but it will always be Pass heavy with TB12 Bucs.

The biggest issue is that he starting 22 from last year has played 1 quarter of the first game against Dallas.

We have not gotten to see the awesome frere agency actually cpme to pass this year with constant injuries.

Oh well forward march, suck it up and play.

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

  4. Beeej Says:

I look at it as ‘resting’ these overworked players before the playoffs. Our backups ought be able to take care of the likes of the Panthers and Jets

    Run the damn ball
    ^^^^^^^^^^
Sounds good in theory, until you realize what the Bucs have for RB’s with Fournette injured:

    1) A mostly disinterested Rojo.
    2) Ke’Shawn Vaughn, who is quite possibly the worst RB I’ve ever seen.
    3) Le’Veon Bell, who was good several years ago.

There is hope that Ron gets his head out of his posterior and maybe Bell has a little left in the tank.

  6. DG060 Says:

Folks this team is toast. The party is officially over.

  7. DG060 Says:

I admire u fans who think we still have a chance to go to SB again. I wish I had that optimism but being that I’m a glass half empty guy so I think this season is over. They just don’t realize it yet.
This team is NOT the 2020 team that’s for damn sure.

  8. Franco Says:

I believe, I heard Rojo is dealing with anxiety issues and this may have something to do with his concentration on the field or even practice during the week. Something has definitely happened over the last 8 months

  9. Defense Rules Says:

Beej … ‘Our backups ought be able to take care of the likes of the Panthers and Jets’.

The Panthers in particular have a very good defense that could very likely cost us more injuries. Their problem is that their offense keeps turning the ball over (25 times so far) and that’s the prescription for losing. They’ve only had 5 TOs in their 5 wins, but 20 TOs in their 9 losses. When they lose the Turnover Battle they lose the game; when they tie the Turnover Battle they have a 50-50 chance of winning.

  10. Beeej Says:

Is not Rojo a free agent at the end of the year? This is an excellent time to find buyers for his wares

  11. BucsFanSince1976 Says:

Brady has NEVER been consistently pass heavy in his years with the PATS , so stop with that. There is nothing wrong with ROJO that 20 touches a game won’t cure. Bell is a washed up has been. Vaughn? Meh.
Bucs have passed the ball 611 times-Bucs have run the ball 313 times- THAT IS ALMOST 66% THROWING- Our offense is predictable. Bucs average 4.4 per rush , in the playoff run last year Bucs were almost 50-50 Run Pass throughout-Get back to that winning formula.

  12. Kentucky Buc Says:

I have zero confidence in Dean playing a full game.

  13. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

I still don’t think any of us have seen enough from Vaughn in game action to form a fact-based opinion, but I’ve been wrong before. Rojo still runs hard and the Offensive Line is in tact. Yes the OLine got their a$$e$ kicked but collectively, they have the ability to establish enough of a running game to get us through the next 3 games.

  14. Bbro Says:

The playoffs will have an entire different look for our beloved Bucs this. Last year we were healthy and sky high ready to slay Goliath but now being injury plaque it’s going to take a lot of 5am text messages from Brady with inspirational meanings and be sure someone’s texting Brady with inspirational notes as well. Get up Bucs and start KICKING SOME MAJOR AZZ

  15. Tampabaybucfan Says:

Somewhere way back in my memory I recall Rojo hanging a 98 yard run on the Panthers…….
I’m hoping Rojo & our Defense will step up…..and having AB is crucial to getting either TJ or AB open….& Perriman will be back….
    Not all gloom.

  16. Anonymous Says:

So is Evans out for the panthers game? Yeah I can see an L and newton resurrected.🤦‍♂️

  17. PSL Bob Says:

I think the D is gelling at the right time, and I haven’t given up hope on the offense. The backups got thrown into the mix without much prep when Evens and Godwin went out on Sunday. This week they’ll take reps with the 1st team and BL will have a different game plan that plays to their strengths. Also AB will be in the mix, and hopefully Gronk will have washed all the slimey Saint voodoo gel off his hands that caused him to drop so many passes last week. They’ll score points this week and the D will make house cats out of the panthers.

  18. Beeej Says:

Injuries aside, we simply do not match up well against New Orleans. Fortunately none of the next few games has a team like them

  19. LVMYBUCS Says:

Dean plays scared even when he is 100%.

  20. Ed Says:

    Formula for success:

Get Wirfs and Cappa pulling to the right side, put 2 or 3 tight ends in and pound Ronald Jones. He has carried the ball very little this year and is as fresh as a second team running back can be. Don’t give up on the run.

If Panthers decide to sell out to stop the run, then pass but use all 3 tight ends. Gronk, Brate and Howard are all experienced and no reason they can be targeted.

Play great defense. Newton is no longer capable of beating anyone with his arm. Press the Carolina WR’s and force Newton to hold the ball. He isn’t as fast as he used to be and White and JTS will be able to run him down.

Get Scotty Miller back on punt returns. Darden is playing on ice skates. Miller is decisive and will get positive yards.

Even a beat up Bucs team can win this game if the Arians and Leftwich don’t mess up and keep trying to do what hasn’t been working.

  21. gbobucsfan Says:

    Finally! Some good news.

  22. tampabuscsbro Says:

Also It’s time to start JTS over JPP. JPP is playing really hurt and JTS makes more of an impact currently.

  23. Tackleblockwin Says:

    @ Ed

Great post. I with you. That is the correct formula. I’d only add that by showing run more with 2 TE sets Brady can get back to more play action.

  24. crazyBucs_CL Says:

I guess LF is going to miss more then we though; Bucs just signed RB Le’Veon Bell .

  25. VabucSINCE’97 Says:

    @bruceBLAhak know something 🙌🏾

  26. Chris l Says:

Could this be the first time all year the gravediggers are all together?

  27. firethecannons Says:

Joe how about we getinto the playoffs first then worry over that

  28. orlbucfan Says:

Methuselah12 showed his age last week and Aints hopped on it. He is the big reason why Bucs lost. 4 sacks and 2 picks. The defense is getting healthy now so LVD can rest. The final score was 9-0. Aints could not score a TD even with 6 gifts. Three FGs. The defense is POed. This Brady temper tantrum on the sideline with telling a coach to f off and smashing an IPad. If that is true, he needs to retire. The defense is getting healthy now. Panthers better be ready. And if Brady throws a pick 6, I hope the Bucs defense wins the game and hangs him.
