Bucs In Tie For No. 1 Seed

December 14th, 2021

Top seed in reach with help.

With four games to go, the Bucs are currently tied for the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

As a result of the Rams beating the Cardinals on Monday Night Football, three of the NFC’s division leaders, the Bucs, Cardinals and Packers, are all tied with a 10-3 record. The Cowboys (who the Bucs have a tiebreaker over) are 9-4 as are the Rams.

The Packers hold the edge over the Bucs in a tiebreaker with a better conference record.

The Packers have a tiebreaker over the Cardinals as they beat the Cardinals 24-21 earlier this season.

For those who like to do puzzles and want to figure out who has a tiebreaker rule over who, here are the tiebreaker rules.

I don’t want Brady to win that mvp. That seems like a curse. Stafford might have a good argument for mvp.

  2. Lesko_Brandon Says:

Bucs just have to take care of their business week by week and let the chips fall where they may. GO BUCS !!

  3. Bird Says:

Not sure how it plays out

I would rather face rams or packers only in final game . Not before
Mcvay has our number like payton does.. bad marchup
Packers defense is way better this year. If we play hope he is karen and not aaron

Bring on everyone else until the nfc champo game

  5. Buc Yeah Says:

By biggest issue with being the Number 2 seed is it’s likely we’ll play Washington or Rams, both teams beat us already one. Yikes. Both loses on the road.

But at home in Tampa! Should be a hell of a game. I just pray the Bucs don’t end up with the Monday night game, on the 17th. That seems crappy to whomever ends up having the short week coming out of that game.

Unless the Covid toe takes down rodgers, they will roll the Crows, Vikings, Lions and browns (combined win total for those teams is 20 wins (6, 6, 1, 7). Combined total for Buc appointments is 19 (Saints – 6, Panthers – 5, Jets – 3, Panthers – 5).

Even if the Bucs drop the saints, we should easily end up 13 – 4, best records in Bucs history (better than 12 / 4 2002 SB Win, or 2020 / 11 – 5 SB Win)

Some other interesting notes, bucs are on pace to have the highest points in franchise history (even corrected for a 16 game season) previous record was last year with 30.75 per game, this year is 31.53 per game)

But the Def this year is on pace with last year, but I’d bet with the schedule we have left, they come in under last years total of 22.18 per game (current is 22.84) but I don’t see the Jets and Panthers putting up much of a fight. Already far behind the 2002 amazing SB team that let up only 16.8 per game

    December is becoming Bucsmas.

  6. Francisco Guzman Says:

I am sick of hearing about Payton having our number. This falls on the player.

  7. Sean Says:

Just win your last four and go from there. 2 seed is good but I miss the extra bye. I just don’t really see a loss on the Packers schedule… maybe a desperate Browns team. Makes me hate the Bengals for missing like 9 field goals in a row against the Packers. The Cardinals could definitely lose to the Colts.

  8. Bird Says:

    Francisco

Why are you mad about that comment. You dont think football is chess (like)
    Sure players play. No question
But if a coach knows what the other team is running …thats not an advAntage. Dude have you ever played team sports
Why do you think spygate was penalized
Or bookies watch everything in addition to players and tAlent

  9. Ptwalk Says:

Payton doesn’t have our number, we beat them last year when it mattered most. We are about to put a nice one on them this week too.

  10. Tye Says:

Chips are falling nicely so far putting the Bucs in a great position to end with the number 1 seed…

Bucs likely favorite in their final games..
Cards very well could lose to Colts, cowboys and/or Seahawks…
Pack could possibly lose to the Vikings or Browns…

Time will tell but its great living in a time of a winning Bucs team!

  11. Bird Says:

Why does every coordinator cover their mouths when calling a play?
Well coached teams beat better talented teams all the time

Look at the patriots with a rookie qb
He thew the ball 3 times last week and won against same bills

  12. Joe Says:

Why does every coordinator cover their mouths when calling a play?

A lot do. Some it’s just habit. Some are paranoid. Pretty sure the majority do because many stadiums are so loud.

  13. Bird Says:

    Joe

You dont think the other team wants to see the O coach call sluggo seam?
    😂

  14. godlovesbucs Says:

2 seed will play 7 seed in playoffs. That will be Washington, Vikings, saints, 49ers or Seahawks.

  15. CalBucsFan Says:

Bucs certainly have the easiest schedule over Packers & Cards, so let’s go Bucs, take care of business and the rest will take care of itself!

  16. captivajim Says:

Not sure Packers can’t loose to the Crows, Browns or Vikings who beat them a few wks ago..Rogers complained after Bears game that the toe was worse than it was coming off their bye …He walked off the field at game’s end rather than run because of it ..

  17. Sparky Says:

The Pack essentially hold the top few tiebreakers so we have to win out if we want a shot at #1.

  18. Francisco Guzman Says:

I’m worried about the 500 plus points curse. Last team to do it was the was 2009 saints.

  19. unbelievable Says:

Zero chance the #2 seed plays the Rams (or Cardinals) in wild card round. that will be the #4 seed.

Packers are definitely a much better team this year. Defense is vastly improved, and Davonte Adams basically looks un-guardable. Like who is gonna cover him, Davis? Dean?

    _________

    I believe that’s Scotch Romanian.

That pederast, Hanaran told me so.

    God…..I admire you.

  21. Winny Testaverde Says:

Nice, feel good headline…but it’s simply not a tie. Bucs are 2 loses behind in the conference game(s) loss column. If both Tampa & Green Bay win out…Green Bay’s got it. The Cards aren’t tied with Tampa for the 2nd spot ( despite same record ) for instance.

  22. Francisco Guzman Says:

unbelievable i don’t think they’re that great defensively. I feel we match up well with them.

  23. Rod Munch Says:

Packers lose to the Vikings once a year, and they already lost.

If Lamar was healthy, the Ravens game would be the one you’d most want to put your hopes on, but the Packers get lucky once again, and will face a hobbled Jackson who is playing on one leg. Then they get a completely beat-up Browns team. Finally they get the lifeless Lions.

Even if Rodgers got hurt, they likely could still win all of those games except for the Ravens.

We shall see, but everyone should be sending their bad vibes and voodoo curses to Rodgers toe.

  24. Roy T. Buford Says:

This is all heading the right way…

An important lesson from this MNF game is that even though they lost, the Cardinals didn’t waste clock time. In the first half, instead of taking a knee to kill the 38 seconds, they actually tried to score, and got a field goal with 1 second on the clock. The Bucs have a deadly passing offense that can easily do the same…if they only take advantage of it.

  25. Buc4evr Says:

If after watching last nights game if anyone doesn’t think we need AB back for the playoffs they are delusional. Both the Rams and the Cards are going to give or Defense fits and our O is going to need to score a lot.

  26. 2021 Year of the GOAT Says:

It was nice to see Perriman score…. but he isnt AB …. and Tom likes routes run a certain way …. AB opens up a whole new dimension to the offense becaue they dont know who to double team.

  27. Bucsfanman Says:

It’s fun to speculate but the reality is that the Bucs can control only one thing at this point…beat the team in front of it.

  28. Georger Says:

What is great is right now with the #2 seed, we get two home play-off games

  29. Vsyl Says:

I can’t imagine packers losing one of their games, unfortunately

  30. Irishmist Says:

The Packers offensive line has been decimated by injuries, and their QB has a bad toe. Where have we seen this situation before?

  31. Oxycodoms Says:

Bucs need that week off more so than homefield

  32. Oxycodoms Says:

Veterans need the rest and bowles needs 2 weeks to prepare

  33. Listnfrmafar Says:

Francisco, Payton having Bucs number has nothing to do with players, it’s ALL about coaching. The PLAYERS especially D won the playoff game last year causing turnovers, not the coaches. Next.game should be interesting.

  34. Lesko_Brandon Says:

@bird….. I dont know where my parents got my name but according to my grandma, they heard it from a stadium chant….. hahahahaha

  35. Patrianakos Says:

    I want that bye bad.
    Somebody, anybody, beat Green Bay!

  36. D-Rome Says:

Heck of a MNF game last night. I was rooting for the Rams the entire way.

  37. Buddha Says:

It was Stafford’s foreplay that got the Rams beat three consecutive games. I don’t see how he can be most valuable player unless the Rams somehow snuck into the top seed. I am biased for two reasons. I’m a Buccaneers fan and I have Brady at plus 1200 to win the MVP.

  38. Cobraboy Says:

Expect nothing, and you won’t be disappointed.

Nothing matters except the Bucs winning out.

  39. Eddie Marz Says:

I’m smelling a bye week. Packers will lose again and we WON’T. All our games at home and the bye week included. GO BUCS!

  40. SOEbuc Says:

I mentioned last night that this could be a totally different playoff team than the disaster regular season that is tied for first if we can stay somewhat healthy.

-Return of Gronk and AB makes this a new team.
-We have all starting CB finally (if that means much to QBs)
    -Edwards return.
-Hopefully Whitehead can make it back before or at first playoff game.

  41. BA4President Says:

If my understanding is correct, we are ahead of Arizona because of Strength of Victory.

We have the same conference record, and we currently don’t have 4 common games with them. That would leave Strength of Victory, which is .492 for the Bucs and .446 for the Cards.

  42. Joe Says:

If my understanding is correct, we are ahead of Arizona because of Strength of Victory.

There is a link in the story that details the tiebreakers. After head-to-head, it gets too far in the weeds for Joe to stomp through this time of the year.

  43. Jim Payne Says:

Cumulative win percentage of remaining opponents

    TB 36.4%
    GB 39%
    AZ 43%
    LA 46%
    DAL 50%

  44. brooks Says:

bucs will be going to Lambeau for the championship game

  45. G.Marosi Says:

Yeah I am hoping for a Browns upset vs. Packers, we win out #1 seed!
    GOBUCS!
