The Giants Are Bad And The Bucs Should Roll Them

November 15th, 2021

Tom Brady

Joe’s detecting great pessimism in the air, including at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters.

Ira Kaufman and one Joe are all freaked out by a couple of rough games while the other Joe typing here isn’t concerned at all.

The 2021 Bucs will not go down as one of the greatest teams in NFL history. That pirate ship has sailed. But they don’t need to hit that standard to win a Super Bowl.

The dream of 17-0 died long ago and the cracks in the Lombardi Trophy are clear. But this is what happens nearly every year in the NFL. Every season is a rough road for nearly every team.

News flash: it was a rough road for the Bucs last season.

Brady’s last Super Bowl in New England came after an 11-5 season in a crap division. So take a deep freakin’ breath. Undefeated at home with a 6-3 record is neither a death sentence nor a curse for the 2021 Bucs. And that’s where Tampa Bay sits today.

Tom Brady remains at the command and the Bucs have more than enough firepower to win at least 12 games, win their division, and lead the NFL in scoring while at least two key injured players return healthy before the playoffs.

Joe would much rather have the Bucs get garbage games out of the way now and learn from them, versus dropping them in December and January. Tampa Bay closes the season at Carolina, at the Jets and then home for Carolina.

If Bucco Bruce Arians is a strong coach (he is), then he’ll figure out what to do. Again, Joe believes the offense under Byron Leftwich should be powerful enough to overcome the deficiencies in the defense, which includes coaching.

As for the headline here, it’s a nod to reality. The Giants are a bad 3-6 football team, one that’s put up fewer points than Washington this season and has less talent on its offense. The Giants haven’t scored 30 in a game all season, are bad on the road and the Bucs average about 35 points at home.

For an excellent team like the Bucs, rock bottom was hit yesterday, the kind that should spark significant change.

A spiritual reawakening and the Giants next in Tampa on Monday Night Football should be just what everyone needs to breathe.

Pete lit an M-80 in his mouth after that game but luckily he can still type #GoBucs

  2. PassingThru Says:

And the WFT is bad and the Bucs should beat them.

  3. Christos Says:

One can say the WFT is just as bad as NYG if you watch the games this year. And yet yesterday was embarrassing. Even more than 2 weeks before against NO. I m sure the majority of fans expected that the Bucs would roll over the WFT. I m just not sure how things will change, they didnt change after the NO game and they had 2 weeks to prepare and reflect their game. I guess we will see. But the optimism is gone. Last year i was just expecting the team to go in the playoffs and see our chances there. This year although i wan not expecting to be champions for sure again i had more optimism than last year. I think i m back to last year feeling. Go Bucs

  4. Defense Rules Says:

‘Again, Joe believes the offense under Byron Leftwich should be powerful enough to overcome the deficiencies in the defense, which includes coaching.’

Hmmm, the word DELUSIONAL just came to mind. No idea why.

Oh wait, maybe it had something to do with yesterday’s score.

  5. Bucschamp Says:

Bucs missing ABs energy and Gronks happy go lucky attitude

  6. Zwak Says:

I’m I the only one thinking this is a MUST WIN game? If we flatline Monday Night things will get ugly real fast.

  7. Pewter Power Says:

Have we not learned anything about thinking any team should be blown out? You honestly think this defense plays good enough to prevent anyone from keeping up

  8. Bucsfanman Says:

Defense Rules- I feel your pain and understand the frustration. This may sound sacrilegious but, I put a lot of yesterday on Brady. He was staring down WRs and being impatient with the routes.
Now, about that run game! The holes were there, Lenny was doing fine, why do we go away from it?
Admit it. We KNEW the defense wasn’t going to hold on that final drive. WFT converted easily throughout the game. Why lean on THAT defense?

  9. Onetrickpony Says:

Overconfidence is a word that comes to mind.
First down run almost predictable play calling

  10. Conte Piscateli Says:

At least two key injured players back? Which ones? Dee Delaney? Scottie Miller? Who knows, I’m not even sure Carlton Davis is still a Buc. Gronk has a tricky back that pushed him into retirement and AB is in a boot. Do we get them back this year maybe, but it sure hasn’t sounded like the coaching staff is confident. What sort of player do we get back as well? Remember neither of them was in football shape last year. Please stop waiting, wishing for players who aren’t available. It’s not like they are even practicing.

  11. ModHairKen Says:

Keep fooling yourself, Joe. This isn’t last year. The injuries are up and the DBs suck. This team will back into a playoff spot, lose first game, and then the defections will happen.

Here’s a potential preview: JPP, Suh, Sherman, Howard, RoJo, Jensen, DSmith, and maybe Godwin. All gone. If Brady leaves, so does Gronk. Arians will retire. Owners will jesttison Bowles and Leftwich.

First to not first to worst in 3 years.

  12. Kevin in jax Says:

Why is Richard Sherman on this team? What good is he. Every week an excuse not to play. Cut him.

  13. alton d green Says:

if the Giant’s QB can throw 5-10 yards consistently, we are in for another ass whipping. Todd absolutely refuses to crowd the receivers at the line. will the secondary get burned? so what!!! we KNOW they will get burned. If I was Daniel Jones, (QB), I would be so damn excited. What have i learned by watching for almost 60 yrs? There is a very thin line between being naive and being stupid. Based on the last 2 games, we couldn’t roll over Southern New Hampshire University. also based on the last 2 weeks, if we roll over NY, it’e because they committed suicide like we did. And BTW Bruce, that one int WAS NOT Tom’s fault!! Clean those fog lights and get your facts straight. I sold insurance for over 26 years in 11 states and I would NEVER want BA as a manager or coach. Tom’s experience will help block that crap from BA. A new player? They KNOW when they screw up, so stop beating them down when they’re already down

  14. Kgh4life Says:

I’m not worried about the offense, however, the Bucs defense has to play better. Two games in a row they have allowed average QBs to light the up. Bowles has to adjust his scheme. He seems to think if he keeps on doing the same thing it will magically produce a different result.
By the way it is clear JPP is not healthy sit him for a while and give JTS more playing time.

  15. Jim in PH Says:

Facing the WORST passing defence and that was the best game plan Lefty could call? Hope he finds a head coaching gig soon! Whatever happened to throwing to tight ends & mid range passes? Running the ball & check downs worked great!

  16. Kevin in jax Says:

Why is Richard Sherman on this team? What good is he. Every week an excuse not to play. Cut him. It’s just like what revis pulled on us. Not worth a crap. Save the money and promote a practice team player

  17. Anonymous Says:

    Bucs are bad too

  18. B-Bro Says:

It’s pathetic qb’s can throw at will on our backs. I think the only incompletions winky had yesterday was when he had unbearable pressure in his face

  19. Bob in valrico Says:

Brady was effective most often last year when the defense shut good offenses down and gave him short field opportunities. Well he had two of those yesterday and they accounted for our only TD’s. But he has had very pedestrian performances in the last two games. I believe the internal clock in Brady’s head is telling him its three alarm fire when there is still time to make his reads and find the open man. The blocking was decent from the O line. Our skill players can’t
make plays if Brady doesn’t get the ball to them. Something isn’t right here,
what it is isn’t exactly clear.

  20. Upstate NY BUC Says:

Delaney never should of suited up, I was watching warm ups he was limping around, very noticeable!!

  21. BucsFan81 Says:

So tired of seeing articles about teams we should roll. If anyone has watched this team over the past decade. Then they know they play down to the competition and teams they should blow out they lose to or barely win. I expect next Monday that Daniel Jones will look like Eli in his prime.

  22. Man Child Says:

Yeah, we won’t though. No defensive line push, a secondary that can’t stop anyone, an offense that seems lost and we can’t stop committing penalties to save our a$$.

  23. adam from ny Says:

i am definitely pissed that they have “secretly” switched out of their all pewter unis for monday night to sport red jerseys with white panties…

in the words of steve deumig, this is bullspit!!!

  24. Brodel Says:

    Oh, no.
O line was good enough!?! Go back and look at the very first series. Brady was leveled on the 3rd play.
Why so many checkdowns you wonder? Go back and see the pathetic play calls being called. Look no further than the 2nd interception when Evans kept running his route and Godwin ran into a DB. Most of time, middle crossing lane was a mess with everyone bumping into each other, providing Brady with no option.
The problem is that offensive play calling was for the scheme that maximizes Bucs offense when they are fully healthy. It should have accommodated the skill sets for those playing on the field (Tyler Johnson, Jaelon Darden, …). They ain’t AB or Gronk. Besides Godwin was extremely limited due to foot injury. BA… learn to adapt to the situation not forcing your agenda.
WHERE THE HELL IS UP TEMPO OFFENSE (no huddle)???

  25. WiscoJoe Says:

I appreciate the positive post Joe. The injury bug showed up and kicked our ass this year and I’m not too sure the Bucs can rebound from how bad it has hit us. I’m still curious as to why Brady was Tommy check down yesterday? As soon as OJ had his false start on the first play of the game I had a gut feeling it was going to be a long Sunday.

  26. Red86 Says:

I just watched the game. It’s foolish to have this we going to beat weaker team. I put majority of the blame on the coaches. More specifically Bowles and Leftwich.

Bowles is not making the right adjustments. For majority of the game, 5 or more players are going for the qb or rb. Leaving average to below average linebackers and secondary vulnerable in coverage. It’s a simple number game. Single high safety are vulnerable to two streaks on opposite sides, double moves, and etc. While we are relying on 3-4 majority of the time, which mean safeties playing cornerback duties. I’ve seen too many time Washington Redskins had 5 wrs and our crazy coaching stayed in 3-4. These formation along is a mismatch because we are basically doing a 5-2 the whole time. Linebackers on wide outs… are you serious Todd Bowles? Funny how when we only rushed 4 and or change formation, the coverage was better. You’re too predictable. I said this last year. Having JPP and Barrett on the field is a liability in coverage. One need to sit while the best coverage player among the lbs play there. On 3rd and 6, then use both JPP and Barrett. They are too predictable right now, which is why it’s failing when we need them the most.

Leftwich… run the dang ball. Only 11 runs and 30+ passes… are you serious? A balance offense is a dangerous offense. The Skins d line didn’t respect us at all. Nor did our lack of commitment in the run game made them respect us. Stop saying passing out of the back field is a run. It’s not. A regular run wear down the d line over time. D line have to fight o line and running back. Meanwhile, they get to stay fresher if they have to defend a pass out of backfield. You cannot set up a play action pass with that weak garbage. A run guarantee yardages whether is positive or negative, but the mental and physical toll is the purpose of running it. The linebackers weren’t confused by our weak approach. The hurry on Brady caused the 2nd interception. All because we ran the ball for the first time at 5mins mark in the first quarter. You’re too weak.

  27. Jim Payne Says:

We are not the same team without Gronk, AB, and of DBs. Get healthy for playoff push. Win what you can until reinforcements arrive, hopefully sooner than later.

  28. Chris l Says:

Thank you joe. Terrible loss but this happens all the time in the nfl and yeah we blew it but we have 8 games left and let’s go get that #2 seed and try for 1. Still very attainable

  29. bucsfansince89 Says:

Daniel Jones on MONDAY NIGHT! yeah chuck that as an L if they don’t wake the hell up and pull their tails out of their ass! Injuries are injuries that crap yesterday was beyond embarrassing we didnt came to play period! we thinking too much we the superbowl champs when in reality we out here looking like chumps!

  30. Cobraboy Says:

    Here we go again.

At some point the Joe’s will figure out this team has no heart. Even Brady.

    Heart > Talent.

  31. Jersey buc Says:

Said it yesterday. This giants game will not be easy. They play good defense n Jones has shown he can move the ball on this defense healthy. Let’s hope they take 2 bad games of frustration out and get this much needed win.

  32. Jeff Says:

LMOA! This team is old and washed up. 11 win team that goes out in the 1st round of the playoffs. One and done with the SB. But at least they won one!

  33. Bince92 Says:

Offensive play calling was as if Bucs starters are fully healthy. No adjustments to the actual skill sets of backup players. Trying to force a square peg into a round hole. Very disappointing in the play call. No specific game plan… more like this is what we do, stop us mentality when the offense is not at full strength. Arrogance or ignorance.

  34. ATLBuc Says:

I was at the game yesterday and am very concerned about Brady’s arm. Evans and Godwin were running free all day yet Brady decided to check it down to Leonard. I could almost sense frustration in their body language.
The Giants are actually playing better than the WTF do this article was not consoling to me after what I witnessed yesterday

  35. Wild Bill Says:

The Bucs are too much of a finess team. They get pushed around by bad ass smash mouth opponents. Both NO and Washington beat up the Bucs physically. Brady hates to get hit. Washington blasted him early and rattled him good.

  36. adam from ny Says:

looks like rojo is out of the rotation or something…what’s up with that…

at one point they cut to an “undisclosed team coach” on the sidelines and he seemed like he was completely in lala land…with devilish smirk on face, like he was thinking about his incognito nights the past week or so at mons venus with a grip of singles, a wig and dark sunglasses…

    #JustDontSniffYourFingersOnCameraCoach

  37. Chris Says:

It sure seemed like Brady’s arm was hurt yesterday. I’m more worried about that than anything. Let’s see how we come out vs the Giants.

  38. Jordan Says:

Happens every single time we get away from running the ball – the pass/run imbalance yesterday was ridiculous for a game that was never out of control on the scoreboard

Yes WFT was in control from the very beginning but there was no need to panic and just let them play off coverage every single play — they knew we would panic and want the big play/instant relief

Mike Evan’s got lucky he didn’t get called for offensive PI on his touchdown

  39. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

Washington and the NY Giants are in the same division, and Washington is the worst team in that division.
So the Giants are probably saying “If Washington can beat the Bucs, so can we”.
So, by losing badly to the WFT, we have made our upcoming game with the Giants more difficult.

  40. TOM Says:

Tired of BA’s BS. Saying what agreat OC Lefty is & should be a HC. How good lazy ass D. Smith, Rojo, Darden, Vaughn & the majority of the CB’s are. They all suck. Especially Lefty, Smith & Daeden. OH by the way, I’m afraid the DC Bowles is overrated. I do hope Lefty does get a HC job somewhere as long as it isn’t with the Bucs. By the way who were you idiots the said before the season that the Bucs should go 17-0 or 16-1?

  41. TOM Says:

Sorry I forgot to mention what a waste of a pick Howard was. He sucks too. Get rid of him.

  42. DoooshLaRue Says:

Welcome to your best game of the year Danny Dimes.
We’re gonna make you look great!

    ModHairKen,

    Severe prediction but quite possible.

  43. D-Rome Says:

I have concerns about the team but overall I’m optimistic about this season. The team is not full strength on both sides of the ball.

  44. ChiBuc Says:

No team is full strength. Arrogant coaching that does not adjust to personnel is the weakest link. Bowles gets handed around the league more than a strpper at a bachelor party because he never adjusts to the injury report and BA’s arrogance is well documented.

Shaq is second tier and only looks good when the entire team is healthy. He will never put the team on his back for a close down sack… bench him for an extra db, change up db buffer occasionally, RUN the freaking ball to control clock, stop bldg doghouse and start bldg game plans. 2 weeks for that lame game plan that we saw week when at full strength

  45. Will Says:

All I’ve to see is the title Joe. That needs to stop this team isn’t good enough for fans to EXPECT them to roll over anyone. After the last two games we should be happy if the Bucs DON’T roll over.

  46. Mike Johnson Says:

LMAO here. A lot of you here said our Bucs were gonna pulverize the skins. So I don’t take anything for granted now with this team. Monday night football and the Giants will be ready. And they got a kinda unknown QB too. That spells doom for our curse of getting beat consistently by QB’s trying to make a name for themselves. So call it an easy game if you want to. None of’em are easy for you when you are being hunted as champs.

  47. unbelievable Says:

    LOL DR

I was thinking this Joe might be delusional as well.

These last 2 games have shown this team to be sloppy, careless and soft.

That is not a a super Bowl winning combo right there. As of right now, the Cardinals, Rams and Packers look exponentially better than us. They play tougher, they play smarter, and they’re not using injuries as an excuse.

  48. crazyBucs_CL Says:

@”..J’s detecting great pessimism in the air, including at JoeBucsFan.com world headquarters…”
    ———————
Is NOT pessimism, is REALISM. More fans are waking-up to realize that we are in decline, actually fast pace decline as a team.
The ONLY thing MAYBE changing that, is coaching change as a whole.
Bucs are a team WITHOUT NFL grade coaches, let alone SB coaches.
Sooner we correct that, sooner will the “bleeding” stop.

  49. Joe Says:

    Is NOT pessimism, is REALISM.

Thank you. Joe tries to be real. If the Bucs win they deserve props. If they lose they deserve criticism. If a player balls out he deserves to get glossed. If a player stinks he deserves to be called out.

Joe is neither a cheerleader nor a hater. Joe is a fan. He rides high with the highs and gets down in the dumps if not angry with the lows.

  51. Allbuccedup Says:

How can the Bucs defense look so bad and sill be ranked 8th in the NFL?
