Red Zone Is Green Zone For Tom Brady

November 24th, 2021

Green zone for Tom Brady.

Man, these numbers are just sick.

The PFF tribe decided to trot out numbers yesterday — when don’t they? — that blow Joe’s mind.

Friggin’ lethal in the red zone is 17-game-loathing, salad bar-hating, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, helmet-tossing, football-punting, Bucs-Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady.

Just check this stuff out when the Bucs get inside the opponents’ 20-yard line.

🎯 51 completions (1st)
🎯 21 TDs (1st)
🎯 0 INTs

That’s just about perfection.

Of course, Brady gets a lot of time to throw. Joe cannot remember the specific play — but it was deep in the Giants’ real estate when Brady dropped back to pass and looked and looked and looked some more. It appeared Brady could have had Grubhub deliver him a Cuban sandwich from La Teresita (provided Brady even eats a Cuban sandwich or those alleged faux tuna sandwiches for which he shills.)

Brady must have gone through his progressions three times.

If a quarterback gets that kind of time, he’s going to burn opponents. Give Brady that kind of time and you may as well p!ss on the fire and call in the dogs.

The oline was phenomenal last game, Giants D had been playing really well. Make no mistake Giants rushed 3 that play and had 8 back, NO one could get open except Gio on Bradys left side had a small window but would not.of made 3rd down. Oneilbucyall, I guess the defense is the reason for those stats. BA at it again, 5 days until possibly the tell all game of the season and he is off doing an interview with Darcie Glazer on Bucs diverse locker rooms. Where is the fing focus????

  2. Listnfrmafar Says:

Sorry Gio wouldn’t of made 1st down

I think the dink and dunk passing will be the norm unless a team feels they have elite CBs to cover our guys deep. This offense can simply put up lots of points and can do so quickly. Keeping everything underneath keeps the clock running and forces constant execution. Much like we saw in Washington, if we aren’t playing disciplined, teams will have a chance to hang around and we can then be beat. I don’t think any team in the league can stop our offense, it really comes down to if we are executing.

Vincent is spot-on about how Brady uses the pocket. His stepping up or stepping sideways to gain that minuscule fraction of a second really is a ‘diminishing art’ as he says.

Of course our OLine deserves a mammoth amount of the credit for keeping TB12 upright. He’s been sacked less (13) and has the lowest sack percentage (2.9%) of any QB in the NFL. He also has the lowest percentage of Pressures (Hurries, Hits, Sacks) in the NFL … only 12.0%. Compare that to the Broncos Teddy Bridgewater who’s been under pressure a whopping 30.1% to lead the NFL.

Brady should be giving thanksgiving organic Turkeys to his Offensive linemen. They are doing a phenomenal job keeping Brady clean.

I remember that play distinctly as it was hard to believe that NOBODY could uncover with all that time! Brady ended up throwing it out the back of the end zone. Then I remembered how easily AB uncovered with that ankle-breaking double-move in the EZ for the TD just before half-time in the SB. Credit alpha competitor Tyrann Mathieu though as he stuck to AB like they was doing the Tango as AB caught that low fast ball placed where only AB could get it.

About AB’s SB TD. Bucs’ QB Coach Clyde Christensen revealed on the Pat McAfee show that AB, in a fit of dyslexia, ran the wrong route. The play was called “to go down and IN before popping out” but AB went OUT before going IN and down. But Brady, knowing and adjusting immediately to AB’s mix up, zipped the timing pass to the mirror-image of the called play hitting AB perfectly as he hit the ground with Mathieu on his back. That play is an excellent example of the unique chemistry between the duo.

I can’t wait for AB’s return but can’t shake the feeling that there’s something more at play with AB interior ankle sprain (an ‘Eversion’ sprain of the deltoid ligament) perhaps that it was partially torn. Then again, if it was that serious, he would have been placed on injured reserve due to a longer rehab or possible required surgery.

I just hope that there isn’t a “vaccine card” investigation of AB underway. That would turn into a can of worms for the NFL AND the Country as the a big secret truth would be revealed: Those with big cash and connections have been “buying” their “vaccinated status” all along. When you think about it, the rich and powerful have ALWAYS had it over the rest of us “great unwashed”. Why would “vaccination cards” or “covid passports” be any different? Just another niche market for the “Dr. Feelgoods” of the World.

Yeah, I don’t think the NFL would want to “go there” even if it meant sticking it to Tom Brady, AB and the Bucs.

Stevie, Lattimore just pleaded guilty for felony gun charges, why us this not investigated by the NFL? AB has a target on his back.

  10. PSL Bob Says:

It was indeed pocket presence and awareness exemplified. Kudos to the O-line for creating it and Brady for using it.

  11. David Says:

He was awesome in the pocket and the pocket was awesome by the old line against a pretty good front four.

As for dumping passes off… Teams play 2 or three deep more against the Buccaneers than any team in the NFL this year.
They are trying to force them to dump it mostly short.
