“I Doubt Seriously If He’ll Be Back Any Time Soon.”

November 15th, 2021

The quote in the headline is from Bucco Bruce Arians. It’s the status of cornerback Richard Sherman after straining/pulling a calf muscle yesterday before the loss to Washington.

Enough said.

    damn!

  2. Medicated Pete Says:

He & Bruce can be drinking buddies now

  3. #8 Says:

At least Sherm can seriously contribute even if not on the field–stinks, but at least he can offer assistance in other ways.

  4. Dusthty Rhothdes Says:

So licht just froze and did not go and try and trade for any decent corners that were available out there?

  5. Bojim Says:

He’s a better coach than player at this point anyways. A good thing.

  6. DoooshLaRue Says:

Sherman knew/knows he’s done and doesn’t want to embarrass his “legacy”

How do you prove/disprove a pulled muscle anyway?

  7. tampabuscsbro Says:

no Dusthty. We couldn’t afford any. The only one we could have afforded was that former first round pick on the jags that was still on his rookie deal that the panthers swooped in and took. Aside from that they were all unavailable or too expensive.

  8. NPRSageBoy Says:

Another wasted signing. Beginning to look like the Brandon administration; a lot of talk, but no action.

    Let’s Go Brandon!!!

    Peace, Out

  9. Sean Says:

There’s a reason guys are unsigned well into the season. AB worked out for the Bucs but that is an exception. Sherman is the rule.

  10. Lesco_Brandon Says:

Oh boy! can we get a refund from Sherman.

  11. Adrnagy Says:

Sherman sees or puts a foot in the field and gets injured or hes allergic to it , meanwhile brady is not far away … brady cant play in the cold no more. And if he gets hit early like yesterday he freezes up.

    Bucs = retirement spot.

  12. PassingThru Says:

Yeah, Sherman’s at that dreaded point in his career where his body keeps breaking down. Many players are either cut, or retire once they enter that endpoint. I wasn’t confident he had the speed to do the job, despite the weight loss. While he was never a speedster, he just looked too slow for the 49ers last season.

If he’s cut, it might be time to consider poaching a practice squad CB.

  13. Bird Says:

Wait – sheman was on the team?
    😂

  14. LVMYBUCS Says:

Better enjoy these last few check because will never play in the NFL again.

  15. SB~LV Says:

Too bad he has run out of tread

  16. TOM EDRINGTON Says:

    Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay over the hill…..

  17. Joseph Brown Says:

I said before that this was a bad pick up. He offers us nothing in regards to production on the field. He’s old and washed up. Why can’t we just cut him and be done with already.

  18. captiva jim Says:

he didn’t play well last 2 yrs with niners..it was a waste to pick him up-but he came cheap . past time to cut him….

  19. PassingThru Says:

    @Dusthty Rhothdes

We really have no idea who was being offered and at what price. It takes two to tango for a trade to go down. We also don’t know the degree of optimism Arians and Licht were experiencing; they might have thought that Davis and SMB were almost ready. In either case I was disappointed as I was never that high on SMB or Dean; adding a competent (adequate, not good) made a lot of sense.

There was enough money in team cap to add someone on their last season or two on a non-first round rookie contract. Licht could have even absorbed a higher vet salary, but to do so he’d need to find a party willing to absorb OJ in return (with a pick). That was no small task.

  20. Beeej Says:

So I hear Vernon Hargreaves is available….

  21. Mike Johnson Says:

Anybody who follows football knew Sherman was pretty much well close to done after the 9ers. This had to be one of Arians pet projects like that backup QB we have? I’m all for charity but this Sh.. here…….

  22. Buckaroo Boozie Says:

6-3 First in the Division… Not the time to go all chicken little Bucs Fans🙄

  23. Rod Munch Says:

Who would have thought grabbing an old guy off the streets would carry a big injury risk? I certainly didn’t think that…

Actually, I’m shocked he made it that long without getting hurt. Also he might have been having a good influence on the younger corners, they gave him credit when he had to play coach that one game, maybe they should let him do that some more since it certainly can’t hurt at this point.

  24. Rayjay1122 Says:

Sherm is so old that he has a Ghost coming out of his forehead.

  25. Anonymous Says:

The offense needs better play calls. The same old thing everyone run straight down field eventually gets figured out.

  26. steele Says:

Time to sign someone else. Should have done things before the trade deadline.

I’m not confident in this secondary, even with SMB back.

  27. Patti Says:

I have followed RS since he first was out in as sub for Marcus Trufont who was injured 2011. 5th round draft pick became elite shut down corner for my team (i am a 12– not to be confused w Brady—12 as Seahawk’s 12th man). He got dealt blow when Hawks released him and second year with 49ers was good. Almost all of 2019-20 season he was out w the calf injury which i suspect was same he just reinjured. He said when he signed he wanted to see if his “old legs” had anything left. Unfortunately they dont. To guy that made comment on drinking buddy— please do fact check- his problem is depression w suicidal ideation he is being treated for. Your comment was Not funny.

  28. VabucSINCE’97 Says:

    Release him PLEASEEEEE

  29. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

    Cut him

  30. Billy Z Says:

You might as well thank yourself that Gronk lasted one easy season. He will be ONE AND DONE. He has always missed many games because of injuries. Enjoy your 1 superbowl ! GO PATRIOTS !

  31. TampabayDJ82 Says:

Billy Z – I see your still crying because Brady didn’t want to play for your PATS ANYMORE 😂 .. He’s having the best time in a LONG TIME right here in Tampa !!
