“Great Progress”

Cornerback Sean Murphy-Bunting

Great news from Bucco Bruce Arians moments ago.

The head coach said starting cornerbacks Sean Murphy-Bunting (elbow) and Carlton Davis (quad) are making “great progress” while rehabbing on injured reserve.

Arians didn’t specify return dates. But Joe would be damn happy if a Thanksgiving reunion is on the cards. Joe has smelled enough of Pierre Desir.

  1. BillyBucco Says:

    Please no more Desir.
    Rams are getting Von Miller

  2. zzbuc Says:

Well, that’s something……We need to get Gronk healthier too…….

  3. BillyBucco Says:

Cockrell also looked like a toddler out there.

  4. BigPoppaBuc Says:

Not too worried about SMB as it’s an upper body injury. Davis they need to take their time bringing back or he’ll just reinjure and be out for playoffs.

  5. PassingThru Says:

Still need a CB. The CB depth was thin at the get go this season. Even when Davis and Murphy-Bunting return, there’s no guarantee that they’ll be as effective, let alone if Davis, SMB and Dean can remain injury free for a postseason run.

  6. zzbuc Says:

Rams trade for Von Miller…….that’s not good by any means….

  7. Medicated Pete Says:

Pete’s going to go find Jason Licht drunk in a bar right now with Bruce & ask him if he regrets his 2nd & 3rd round picks already

  8. Upstate NY BUC Says:

Jason needs to get on the horn with the Steelers, Haden is worth a 3rd rounder, please….

  9. Kristopher M Robinson Says:

@Pete I doubt he regrets those picks as they are coming off of a Super Bowl win. Davis is a lockdown CB when healthy and SMB and Dean are fine if they’re not CB1. Usually 2nd and 3rd round picks are a crapshoot, so I’d say they worked out fine.

  10. Dew Says:

We need both players back for sure. Like most I was not impressed with our overall play yesterday. But reality is with 2 minutes left we were down by 1 & should have won the game. Sucks but not a disaster. Hopefully we get Gronk, AB & our Corners back to finish strong.

  11. Francisco Guzman Says:

This team has to finish strong in the second half and stop with the dumb penalties. Not gonna win games like that.

  12. SlyPirate Says:

I couldn’t be less impressed with the Bucs this week.

    I’m taking a week off.

  13. LVMYBUCS Says:

I just wished they would have focused more on upgrading the secondary in the off season.

  14. Francisco Guzman Says:

@SlyPirate relax. Season is not over in October. This team has to start executing better. They will. The only weakness on this team is the coaching staff. These guys need to their job a lot better.

  15. Listnfrmafar Says:

HMM Rams trade for Miller? My guess is they were hurting at the position so they decided to make a trade while Bucs fans cross their fingers that their below average secondary gets healthy and saves the day. Seriously? Obviously Rams want a SB, Bucs not so much or is it this is uncharted water for Licth and he doesn’t know what to do? I know let’s add more coaches to the staff. Throw enough crap at the wall somethings got to stick.

  16. adam from ny Says:

if we have to wait for basically a december 1st return, it’s time to shop for a cb…

so it’s time for licht to stop sippin’ suds and jump on this…

the superbowl carpet ride is long over now…we are on to our second loss and november is now here…

we are far removed from the superbowl – it’s midway thru the season – and there is no superbowl champion anymore – that was a long time ago in a “not for long” league…

it’s time to ball out or go home

  17. Francisco Guzman Says:

@Listnfrmafar when they get healthy in the secondary they will play better. I wouldn’t make a move frankly.

  18. Listnfrmafar Says:

Francisco the secondary was not good last season, remember the Washington playoff game? The Bucs Achilles heel is the secondary & coaching.

  19. Allbuccedup Says:

Sorry ass secondary sorry ass pass rush, Brady can’t keep pulling wins out of his butt.

  20. Francisco Guzman Says:

Allbuccedup brady would tell you he screwed up in the end. I didn’t like the play calling in the end. Gotta execute better. In the end this team still had a chance to win the game with plenty of time left. 🤦‍♂️. This defense has to get better .

  21. Dick LeBeau Jr. Says:

Where is the money at? You do realize this is real life and not Madden, right? We have like 3 mil. We have only 2 loses on the season and some of you are freaking out. Really? We’ve done while not being healthy. Look at the schedule and tell me where you see us losing enough games to miss the playoffs. Geez.

  22. zzbuc Says:

    @Listnfrmafar….
“The Bucs Achilles heel is the secondary & coaching.”

Agree with you on secondary, but seriously you say that about coaching???

The coaching IMO has been excellent, couple of bad games that’s all..

    You don’t win a SB with bad coaching….It’s impossible…..

  23. Joe in Michigan Says:

Medicated Pete: Is there anything you don’t complain about?

You, earlier last week: Mike Evans doesn’t make any plays.

Mike Evans burns Lattimore for a long TD, would’ve had 2 if not interfered with.

You, today: The Bucs need to trade Mike Evans.

  24. Bucsfanman Says:

This IS good news. Good corners don’t grow on trees and you’re kidding yourself if you think that you can replace Davis and SMB.

  25. Youngbucs Says:

This is great news bet none of the fake ones comment on this. You how they do it’s gotta be negative for a comment. Watch a certain comment now to save face he’s dumb enough to did it after reading this.

  26. Rob In Land O Lakes Says:

Just because someone is on another teams roster and is available, doesn’t make it a good move. We have very little cap space so you have to ask yourself “Why would a team want to trade us a back-up corner for a 6th round choice?” Maybe because that player isn’t very good?

  27. PassingThru Says:

The trade deadline is almost 24 hours away. In the words of the great existentialist philosopher, Joey Ramone:

    Twenty-twenty-twenty-four hours to go
    I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, nowhere to go home
    I wanna be sedated

  28. Defense Rules Says:

Allbuccedup … ‘Sorry ass secondary sorry ass pass rush, Brady can’t keep pulling wins out of his butt.’

Looking at that comment, it appears that Joe’s done a commendable job of brainwashing. In JBFville, Brady is the Messiah & the Bucs’ defense is nothing but ‘sorry ass’. Tom Brady is the best QB of all-time IMO, but he still has bad games once in awhile. And yesterday was one of them, despite the fact that he was 28-of-41 (68%) with 4 TDs & 375 passing yards. What made it bad? Tom Brady would be the first one to tell you that there’s no excuse for an offense making 3 turnovers in any game. That’s bad football, and it usually costs you the game.

And yes, the defense didn’t have it together yesterday. Far too many penalties (they all hurt, but most damaging one IMO was the defensive holding on Ross Cockrell at 2:41 of the 4th qtr that gave the Saints a 1st down after we’d stopped them on a 3rd-and-5 at our 33-yard line … would’ve forced them to kick a 51-yd FG to take the lead & still left us with 2:30 or so if they’d made it). Tackling sucked by & large, and allowing Winston to scramble for 4 first downs (40 yds) was ridiculous.

And with our defense, everything starts with the pass rush. Credit New Orleans’ OLine with doing a helluva job for the most part yesterday. Saints’ QBs had way too much time to throw time & time again. Our Secondary, with 2 backup CBs, didn’t do as poorly as many seem to think. Saints’ QBs were 22-of-39 for 215 yds passing (56.4%). Final stats aren’t out yet, but I’d bet that the Secondary was a lot better than that even, and that our LBs were the ones who got taken advantage of, again.

  29. Tampabaybucfan Says:

I am quite convinced that Medicated Pete is the Realist…….he keeps disguises his feelings about BA by bashing other players…..but BA slips out…..it will get worse.

I do admire his restraint on exclamation marks…..probably had an intervention.

  30. FirstTimePoster Says:

Joe(s) “have smelled enough of Desir” You guys realize that the ONLY reason the is playing is because of injuries, right? Throwing a practice squad player under the bus is grade school level.

  31. SOEbuc Says:

Joe these idiots don’t understand how a pass rush and coverage seem to work. It’s not difficult. Better coverage equals more time in the pocket for pass rush to attack. Pass rush attack gives more incompletions and turnovers. They are going to have to resign Davis and Whitehead and a CB in the fourth round. LT in the first. Everyone best friend Donnie continues to rack up his annual penalty display and I believe he’s due about $12.5 million next year. He’s a clown and so are the rest of you that think he is worth that.

  32. 163doubleplay Says:

Bucs will not be having a secondary issue if the front four plus the pass rushers can do their job effectively. Pass-rushers are nowhere to be found plus blitzing is not effective. Sometimes, they can get to the QB but to be followed by a penalty, either roughing the passer, offside or holding in the secondary. Awful!

  33. Buczilla Says:

    Woot!

  34. Buc and roll Says:

    The Comeback was spectacular

Amazing and Beyond entertaining to watch

Brady still had the ball with 1:46 left to win the game

    Nobody’s perfect
    not even the great ones…..

    Saints
perhaps extra motivated by Winston’s injury
    just wanted it more

    that’s all

  35. Rod Munch Says:

Is Fitz going to be back at QB for the Redskins? If not, then maybe they can limp by and get through the next game. Personally though I hate that @Redskins game, it’s the type of game the Bucs always lose. While Brady has been able to break the Bucs of many Buccisims, I don’t know if he has the power to overcome them all.

But if you can get past the Redskins, then you got the Giants, another pain in the rear team that gives the Bucs a hard time, after those two the Bills game I think is going to be the big test. However the Colts will be a hard game, and maybe the Vikings, but you never know what you’re getting from them so it’s hard to say.

  36. Buc and roll Says:

    I’ll tell you this

the next time they play the Saints
    in Tampa

bet the farm on a fully healthy Buccaneers team whooping their ass

  37. RPK Says:

Secondary was exposed big time against the Saints but I don’t believe it’s time to panic.

Bucs have a chance to have their FULL starting secondary for first time this season against Washington

With everybody coming back (plus Richard Sherman) the competition for a starting role will be intense and this will help increase production

If our secondary continues to struggle at full strength, time to panic

    Go Bucs

  38. Papa Chick Says:

For the CBs to ride and hold a player becomes very costly as displayed this Sunday. They Must exhibit Better DB skills training during the bye week,Way to many penalties

  39. Eddie Marz Says:

Defense played poorly but they still had a chance to pull out a win. Everybody has to play better. That pick six was on Brady. It was a winnable game. GO BUCS!

  40. Bucsfanman Says:

    A Ramones reference!!!! Love it!
