Giants Beat Guy: Big Night Coming For Chris Godwin

November 22nd, 2021

Dominance tonight?

Joe knows Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians loves utilizing his slot receiver.

Armed with this information, a Giants beat writer expects the Giants to get a beat down from Chris Godwin tonight.

Jordan Raanan of BSPN types that Giants slot corners have been regularly roasted this season. And when Raanan looks at the other side of the ball, he sees one of the best slot receivers in the NFL. So Raanan is confident this is bad math for the Giants.

…Chris Godwin will catch 10-plus passes with a touchdown. The Giants are vulnerable out of the slot, where they are splitting time between second-year cornerback Darnay Holmes and rookie Aaron Robinson. They have allowed the fifth-most yards (863) out of the slot already this season. Godwin’s 373 yards, meanwhile, is eighth best in the NFL. He’s going to have a feast on Monday night.

Godwin quietly is having a nice season. He already has 717 yards through nine games. That’s 15th-best in the NFL and Godwin has played in one or two less games than most receivers. And if he is able to break the 800-yard plateau tonight, he should get to 1,000 yards barring an injury. That would be the second time in his career he’s had 1,000 yards in a season.

If 17-game-loathing, salad-bar-hating, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, helmet-tossing, football-punting, Bucs Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady is going to steer clear from the long ball like he did in Washington last week, Godwin might just blow up the Giants. Especially if Giants starting safety Logan Ryan cannot go.

Blah, blah, blah and the WFT has the worst pass D in the league. If Bucs show up they win if they play BA like half ass, they don’t, plain & simple. Personal means nothing without drive.

    Toss Scooter a few bombs.

i am more concerned about the play of our Defense than anything else. D
plays well, we win. If not, we stay right there in the middle of the pack with a whole lotta other teams.

Did anyone see Herbert kill the Steelers with his legs? Daniel Jones will do the same to our defenseless Bucs.

Mike Gesicki is a FA after this year. Gronk, OJ Howard , and Brate are all expendable and team will save $$ by signing Gesicki to a long term deal and secure a top 3 TE for years. Mike Gesicki should be targeted next year.

  8. Swampbuc Says:

Godwin having a big night would require Brady to actually throw the ball to him. Given his last two games, it would be surprisingly refreshing to see. Of course ever since the playoffs, Godwin’s hands are more like Michael Clayhands.

Swamp Buc – The Bucs D has faced WAY better running QBs this year and have kept them ALL in check ✔️!! Man you fans are so quick to turn on our BUCS !! Spoiled from last year .. Last time I checked , ALL the other teams in contention lost yesterday and haven’t played well the last few weeks

  10. Crunchbuc Says:

You mean like how everyone said Mike Evans was gonna go off against the WFT? Yea…okay. 🙄

CG14 is a free agent after this season. He has a SB ring. His problem is he needs to play smart so he’ll stay healthy. He has the slim body of a WR but he plays like a hybrid TE/WR. You can bet Giants will have their Boyz ready to nail him. Hopefully, old fart Brady will throw a few more balls to ME13.
