Forgiven But Not Forgotten

Rookie receiver/returner Jaelon Darden

Bucco Bruce Arians weighed in on rookie receiver Jaelon Darden yesterday.

Arians was firm that Darden did a horrible job protecting the football after Tom Brady threw him a strike early in the first quarter. Darden didn’t tuck the catch away securely and the hit came from a Washington defender. The result was a ball popped into the air and Sunday’s first Brady interception, which was a huge first-quarter momentum boost for Washington.

After that, Arians was very pleased with the rookie keeping his head on straight. He told the Buccaneers Radio Network that Darden redeemed himself.

“I like the way he bounced back. He came back, made a big play,” Arians said, referring to Darden’s 30-yard reception, a career high. “He did a good job in the return game.”

Joe would counter that Darden had a miserable punt return after the catch screwup, but he did deliver a strong kickoff return late in the game when he turned the left corner just enough.

Joe’s just glad the rookie even got a shot to right his wrong. A play like that will lose Tom Brady’s trust in a hurry.

No way TB12 wants to throw the ball to this jabroni. Teach him to play CB

He looks like he has an upside in the return game, but he definitely needs to put on some more muscle mass if he doesn’t want to continue those knock outs.

Darden’s #1 Red flag in college was DROPS BALLS/Ball Security

Darden still gives off the feeling of a “deer in the headlights” He has talent for sure, but just a few table scraps so far of his ability shown on the field during games. Hope he can play the way the Coaches have spoken about him, he is definitely needed.

    GO BUCS!!!!!!

Darden shows flashes guys. He’s a rookie. Give him a break. If you look at the film, the defender let the ball hit the ground. We needed a red flag on that play that never came.

Why not just leave Mickens in there? BA is so quick to cut a player or put them on the PS squad instead of developing them. OOPS Unless they are what he considers to be one of their star players which might I mention have been making mistakes all seasons. BA needs to retire and go back to the North Pole

    Dexter Jackson 2.0

Hope I’m wrong but the dude just doesn’t look like an NFL player

I’ve never seen a guy with such poor running techniques/body makeup that he basically just runs forward and down into the ground half the time. It’s like he’s trying to compensate for NFL speed and his body doesn’t know how to do it yet. It reminds me of how awkward RoJo looked for 1/2 a year after he went from 205 to 225.
