Bucs Local TV Ratings Up Slightly

November 17th, 2021

Local TV eyeballs rise for Bucs.

Though the Bucs are part of the two most-watched NFL games this season, locally the Bucs aren’t having as much success, though the team does have more eyeballs.

By way of John Ourand of Sports Business Journal, local TV ratings for the Bucs are up slightly, increasing one percent in the Tampa-St.Petersburg-Sarasota market over last year.

That’s when 17-game-loathing, salad bar-hating, park-violating, home-invading, NFLPA-ignoring, down-forgetting, handshake-stiffing, jet-ski-losing, biscuit-baking, tequila-shooting, smartphone-phobic, waffle-grilling, trophy-throwing, roller-coaster-scared, numbers-rules-peeved, helmet-tossing, football-punting, Bucs-Super Bowl-winning quarterback Tom Brady spent his first season in Tampa and led the Bucs to a Super Bowl victory.

The Bucs currently have the 18th-highest local TV ratings in the league. The teams/cities that pull more eyeballs in their home markets than the Bucs are:

Buffalo 46.6
Kansas City 44.1
Milwaukee 41.4
New Orleans 40.2
Cleveland 36.6
Pittsburgh 36.2
Seattle 32.1
Boston 31.1
Dallas 28.8
Baltimore 28.0
Minneapolis 27.6
Denver 27.3
Cincinnati 26.9
Nashville 26.5
Philadelphia 24.9
Indianapolis 22.7
Chicago 22.6
Tampa/St. Petersburg 21.9

Brady Fatigue: he’s been here less than 2yrs & I’m annoyed by seeing him & hearing about him 24/7 on every show on the planet

There is a different dynamic in Tampa Bay, so many people move down to the area from the very places mentioned lol.
Here is a thought: I wonder how many people in Fl are moving to say Buffalo lol not many most likely lol.

So it will always be a skewed fact in the TB area unless the Bucs have winning seasons for the next 20 years, and then maybe it is still the same percentages watching. as now.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

New Orleans aside – look at the other top cities for % watching their NFL team on Sundays….

There’s basically nothing else to do this time of year in Buffalo, KC, Milwaukee, Cleveland and Pittsburgh…….

Here in Tampa Bay – the weather is perfect this time of year and there’s a ton of outdoor and family related recreational things to do.

Plus, there’s a lot of transplants that live here. Even those that ‘adopt’ or start to ‘follow’ the Bucs once they move here – most never become fully invested enough that they will prioritize watching the Bucs game over taking the boat out to go fishing or taking the family to the beach or a round of golf or – well, the list is endless…
