Did Bruce Arians Take A Swipe At The Falcons Head Coach?

November 8th, 2021

Falcons RB Mike Smith fumbled in this situation yesterday, but Atlanta recovered and kicked a short field goal to win.

It seems Bucco Bruce Arians was glued to the wild finish of the Saints-Falcons game yesterday.

And why wouldn’t he be? It had huuuugggge ramifications in the Bucs’ quest for the NFC’s No. 1 seed.

The Falcons had a big fourth-quarter lead and managed to cough it up. They’re really good at that. But this time Matt Ryan responded by unloading a first-down bomb to Cordarrelle Patterson with about a minute to play and the Falcons trailing 25-24.

All Atlanta had to do was take a couple of knees to run the clock down and kick a 30-yard field goal. The Saints only had one timeout remaining.

Instead, Falcons head coach Arthur Smith called a run up the gut. Running back Mike Smith seemed confused because it appeared the Saints might be trying to let him score a touchdown. And then a Saints player ran to Smith and punched the ball out of his hands.

The Falcons recovered, got smart, and kicked the winning field goal.

Today, Arians was asked for his feedback watching a bunch of NFC games yesterday as the Bucs had the day off.

“There was so many things watching those games yesterday we can learn from,” Arians said. “Don’t hand the ball off when you’re lining up for a field goal, for sure.”

The smirk on Arians face said it all.

Joe didn’t watch every NFC game, so perhaps Arians wasn’t referring to the Falcons-Saints game. But who would believe that?

    😂 got to love BA

I hope they were watching how to slow down the Rams and Packers and Cowboys and Bills. They will all be in the playoffs

  2. TD Tampa BAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY Says:

BA & Arthur Smith have the same amount of wins (with their current team) against New Orleans so the golf cart riding/semi retired/Tom Brady coattails riding/doesn’t attend offensive meetings Head Coach of our beloved Bucs should keep drinking and stop talking so much.

The more BA talks the more I am convinced he’s barely coaching.

  3. TD Tampa BAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYY Says:

BA is 2-7 career against New Orleans, hopefully he was taking notes on how to beat Payton.

  4. Rod Munch Says:

No, he was definitely talking about the stupid Falcons who did everything they could to blow that game.

BUT… come on Arians, you took a penalty to kick longer FG and lost a game because of it. I do like Arians, I’m not bashing him or anything, but talking about FG etiquette is a bit rich.

Also Gay has been for the Rams, amazing how that works with Bucs kickers. Even Folk went to the Pats, and until that Bucs-Pats game, hadn’t missed in like a year or something. Santos has made 41-of-43 in Chicago… I’m sure there’s even more Bucs kickers out there I’m forgetting about.

  5. DBS Says:

And why Payton was passing when they were down there against us. He knew no way could our corners intercept a pass. Just don’t chance a fumble.

  6. Listnfrmafar Says:

Well BA all I can say is they beat the Saints and last week you stood on the sidelines looking pretty dumbfounded. Maybe you shouldn’t run a reverse on a crucial 2 point play when you have the best Qb that ever played the game or maybe not have Lenny run a throw back pass, he looked a chicken running with his head cut off and I don’t blame Lenny.

  7. Medicated Pete Says:

BA needs to shut his bright red face & focus on not getting 15 penalties & losing to a 5th string QB

  8. Rod Munch Says:

Medicated Pete – you suffering some hemorrhoids?

  9. crazyBucs_CL Says:

BA needs to be forced in an early retirement state, and promote TB12 QB/HC for the rest of the season. Guarantied we going to have better HC, right now we have NONE.

  10. adam from ny Says:

raiders young 1st round corner arnoutte released…

    might be worth a look

  11. Defense Rules Says:

Adam … This might be why: ’11/6 Raiders cornerback Damon Arnette has been accused of injuring a woman in a 2020 car crash, according to a report from TMZ Sports. The woman is seeking $92K in damages. Arnette plans on fighting the allegations.’

He’s got good size, but not all that fast for a CB (4.56 secs). Only played a few snaps in 4 games this year … 4 completions for slightly over 80 yds. My guess is that when you’re a CB AVERAGING over 20 yds/completion, you don’t get to play in many games.

  12. Timbuktu Says:

    Hell no on Arnoutte.

  13. Buckaroo Boozie Says:

After looking at Zona remaining schedule… Buccaneers will need to win out for #1 seed!

    LFG BUCS!

  14. Buczilla Says:

Arian’s is cool. Since the falcons are in our division, they are the enemy, but from a human perspective I truly feel bad for their fans. Losing a super bowl like that?!? That’s rough dude.

  15. crazyBucs_CL Says:

Take a look to an other HC, and shut up u TV🤡:
BB with a rookie 22 years old QB, is chasing B Bills for the first place in division.
How is that for coaching ?? !!!

  16. Darin Says:

Well considering he said he can learn from that he was probably laughing at himself. He shoulda said score the TD and not trust a kicker

  17. Bucs&Bolts Says:

To slow down these good teams we need a pass rush plain and simple… it’s how we won last year and how well do it again.

  18. adam from ny Says:

    yeah D…

he’s been basically be a bust who causes trouble…

we are so cb needy that i just thought to toss it out there…

if he came here, TB could flex on him to try harder, while DW and Vita could yoke his azz so he falls in line…lol 🙂

  19. Stanglassman Says:

I thought that same thing. It’s like the Falcons we’re trying to find a way to blow that game. The Bucs could have had a more productive bye week. Makes the Saints loss not sting quite as much.

  20. Chesapeake Bay Bucco Says:

Crazy how at least half of you are ant-BA because he tells it like it is….would you prefer blathered, repetitive coach speak? And, OBTW, our HC is the reigning Super Bowl winning HC. If you don’t like him, find another team….FOOLS!

  21. Craig Says:

Really strange day of football yesterday. I thought the Falcons-Saints game was going to be a repeat of Tom Brady versus the Falcons Stupor Bowl, but Matt Ryan willed them out of that near collapse.

The only team that really won yesterday was the Titans, and they did it with attitude, a bad attitude; their defense was motivated.

  22. DavidBigBucFan99 Says:

Just because we say things against BA don’t make us haters. We call what we see People used to call Welcome Back Koetter a straight shooter and look how he panned out for us. Oooh didn’t realize he won the supwrbowl thanks for letting us know. You should go back to Poohter Reprt or Bucs Nation you can’t handle us using our freedom of speech up here. Even with his extreme mod algorithms Joe(s) still allow us to speak our minds even bashing our SB winning coach. Love blippin newbies

  23. Listnfrmafar Says:

BA is a lazy poser who only wants to hear himself speak but he hit the lottery and this high school coaching staff will ride Brady’s tail to the promised land.

  24. Ed Says:

Falcons played very aggressively on defense and once they took the lead they let the Saints back into the game going into the old prevent defense which nearly prevented them from losing.

Ryan is one tough QB, he gets hit so often and still plays. One has to admire his determination. His team around him is pretty mediocre except their defensive line and young DB’s played very well until that 4th quarter collapse.

Saints are heading into some tough waters with 2 very difficult games @ Titans and Bills coming to town. They play the Eagles in between in Philadelphia. 2 out of 3 games outside, no dome. I like the odds that they will drop a few of those games. Even an away game in NY vs Jets could be a contest. Just like the Bucs are a bad dome team, the Saints are not nearly as tough away from New Orleans and the noise of the Superdome.

  25. August 1976 Buc Says:

The Bucs are going to win the division. And MAYBE they get the Bye, who knows. But sure are alot of people just plain not happy about a walking MASH UNIT of a team that is 6-2 right now.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

  26. Jmarkbuc Says:

    DR

Might be the viral video of him flashing guns and threatening to kill people… allegedly, of course.

  27. Buc1987 Says:

Chesapeake Bay Bucco,,,wtf are you carrying on about?

Find a new team after 30 plus years of being a fan of this one cause I disagree with the current coach?

Are you some kind of mental case?

  28. JimbobBucsFan Says:

I for one (Am I the only one?) could care less if we are the number one seed or not. What I want to see is the Bucs once again running on all cylinders when the playoffs begin. Will we be up to to speed per our talent level in all three phases of our game? How well will our OC, our DC and our ST coach be doing?

We have actually upgraded our talent level from a year ago. If we don’t have a whole lot more injuries to go we have a realistic shot at back-to-back Lombardis. We will know what kind of a head coach AB is by February 14th for sure.

Go Bucs! Kick some WFT tail next!

  29. German Buc Says:

David, it would be great to have a playoff match against the Bills 😉

  30. Jim Says:

    BA and J agree…

  31. AMI_Chris Says:

Joe Pisarcik and Larry Csonka thought that was a bad idea…

  32. Oneilbuc Says:

NFL football is getting worse and worse with these rules. I saw Feilds get killed last night and now flag was thrown. I’m getting sick and tired of the Brady rules and how certain players gets flags and others don’t. This is why I’m tired of all these old quarterbacks getting over protective like the ref was blocking the eagles player from blocking Brady when he threw a pick . That’s why I can’t wait until Brady and big Ben retire from the league.

  33. Listnfrmafar Says:

Oneilbucyall are you serious? Your a Brady hater, Brady knows how to avoid the big hits. Most of these young guys run around and open themselves up to getting pounded. Once they’re out of the pocket, pretty much fair game. Your boy Winston scrambled and got hurt. If you take your blinders off, Siemian got roughing the passing calls all game when Saitns played Bucs, many were not warranted but he was in the pocket. Please learn the game.before you post.

  34. Oneilbuc Says:

Listnfrmafar . The NFL is worse than it’s ever been and that’s a proven fact . And don’t talk to me about flags being thrown because I’m a football fan first before a bucs fan. Just like the first half of the superbowl I was bragging about the bucs but at the same time I didn’t like all those flags being thrown just like I didn’t like the flags in the saints game. Your Brady fan so I would expect you to say that because I look at the whole game. The NFL has push more towards fantasy football fans and gamblers wich has water down the game. So for football fans like me who grew up watching the game in the golden years wich was the 80s and 90s and early 2000s the game is worse not better. They make more money now because of gamblers and fantasy football people who just started watching it and they think they know football now lol 😆 . But lest be honest Brady threw a pick 6 and lost the game what if Jamies would have done that who fault would it be ??? It’s funny Brady played with the same team Jamies played with in 2019 and you got the same results so spare me with Brady took the same team and won a superbowl lol 😆 🤣 I told you it wasn’t the same team!!

  35. Listnfrmafar Says:

Oneilbucyall, what you posted was that you were sick of older QB’s getting non calls. Then you specifically mentioned Brady. First off, Brady is the one that got Bucs the lead in the 4th quarter and the defense let the Saints right back into it with 1:41 left. The difference between Brady and Jamais is that Brady normally would come in and save the day and at least get Bucs in field goal range. This.game he did not. The difference is Jamais has.not.had 64 comeback wins and let’s not forget 7 SB rings. The only ring Jamais has is probably from gonoria. I saw Rothesberger get his ass handed to him last night no call, Rogers constantly gets sacked, no call, Brady always hit after the play or thrown down by guys like Donald, NO call. This isn’t basketball. I will agree the flags this year are intolerable but favoritism amoung older QB’s seriously? Hamais had 5 years to take Bucs to SB, he never got them to playoffs. Please stop being prejudice.

  36. Oneilbuc Says:

Listnfrmafar. You keep bringing up Brady rings as if he played by himself. Brady has never played with a 15th ranked defense his defenses has always been top 5 . And yes I’ve seen Jamies do the same thing and I’ve watch the defense give more games than offense and that’s a fact . You just hate Jamies and it doesn’t matter what he does some of yall will never give up credit for nothing. Yall said he would throw 20 interceptions this year and before the injury he had 15 touchdowns and only 3 picks and that’s with receivers that would be in slot at best. But just like I said Brady played with the same team and you got the same results and just think if he had Babara in the back feild it would have been worse. Football is a water down now and you made a comment about the young quarterback runs outside the pocket and that’s why they hit like that and I can agree with you on that but the football I grew up watching it didn’t matter if you were going the pocket or not you got hit hard . And that’s why I would take those quarterbacks in the 80s and 90s over any quarterback that’s playing today. Just like basketball I can’t even watch 2 minutes of a game because it’s water down. Put Dan Marino, Warren Moon, Jim Kelly, John Elway, in today’s game they would be unstoppable they put up big numbers back then just imagine what they would do today’s football.
