Chris Godwin Was Injured On “A Normal Tackle”

November 12th, 2021

Chris Godwin

Don’t expect much news on injured Chris Godwin from Bucco Bruce Arians when he addresses media early this afternoon.

Arians told WDAE radio this morning that the Bucs will gauge “how sore [Godwin] gets after practice today” before considering whether he can play Sunday in Washington.

The plan, per Arians, was for Godwin to test his bad foot at this morning’s practice in a limited fashion. The injury surprised many fans when it was announced this week, 10 days after the Bucs lost to the slimy Saints.

Today Arians said the injury happened on “a normal tackle” against New Orleans. So all you haters can rule out Godwin can rule out Godwin stepping on a bottle while club dancing.

He has no idea how to hit the ground, slide or get outta bounds. Nobody hits the the ground harder than this guy. The Jets will pay him $20 million per season next year while he’s always hurt & broken down in that cold, sewage of a city

  2. Tim in PSL Says:

There’s no need for Godwin to risk further injury like Gronk did. We’ve got the depth to absorb this. Let him rest and come back next week if there’s any question about him playing hurt.

  3. Adrnagy Says:

I keep hearing we have depth. We have depth.
Depth hasnt play well or at the level of the starters. So stop saying we have depth.

  4. SB Says:

As a hand to hand combat instructor for over 30 years I know that anyone can land a lucky punch

  5. Adrnagy Says:

AB wont play. Godwin may not play.

You start evans , johnson , and newcomer miller or perriman ?

If evans get licked and goes out 2-3 quarters … who is your depth ? Richard sherman at wr?

  6. Tim in PSL Says:

IF Evans got knocked out and I’ve got no reason to think that’s going to happen, then yeah you have Johnson, Miller, OJ (for what that’s worth), Brate. If Godwin is a no go, activate Perriman. If he gets 2 or 3 catches then that’s gravy. In this scenario, Evans is knocked out at some point during the game, which means he probably already made a catch or two. Not to mention we have Tommy Touchdown playing point guard, so am I worried? Nope.

  7. PassingThru Says:

Run defense is actually one of the few strengths on the WFT, and yet with no AB, Gronk or Godwin, the Bucs will likely run the ball more than usual.

I wouldn’t expect much out of Perriman, sure he knows the playbook, but he hasn’t worked with Brady. I’d like to see Brate and Johnson pick up some of the slack.

  8. Defense Rules Says:

Adrnagy … Bucs have much better depth IN CERTAIN POSITION GROUPS than most teams. But it’s still a very tenuous thing when the injury bug hits multiple times in any one group (like our CBs?).

Our WR group had ME13, Godwin, AB, TJ, Scotty plus a couple others (Darden, Mickens) at the start of the season. Scotty goes down, AB goes down, Godwin gets banged up & we’re left with ME13, TJ, Grayson & Darden plus possibly Perriman. Obviously skimpier, but still very capable.

And especially when you look at our other weapons. Even though Gronk’s hurt, we still have OJ & Brate as TEs. And our RB position group is 100% with Lenny, RoJo, Gio & Sneak. That’s a lot of potential receivers for TB12 to throw to.

Of course, all the more reason to pound the rock, pound the rock, pound the rock Sunday, with some quick short passes sprinkled in there to get WFT’s defense cheating up, THEN hit the deep stuff. It’d be nice to show the football world that the Bucs can use the run to set up the pass, when we choose to.

  9. Adrnagy Says:

No threat. Defense will come after Tommy Touchdown and he will be named tommy fumble

  10. Adrnagy Says:

Defense rules .. you dont need to lecture me. Stop drinking toilet water. And start drinking alkaline

Your “depth “ at Cb hasnt played at all. Not even “well”. We rank at bottom at passing.

Your “depth” at TE hasnt score a TD since gronk i think If my brains still works

  11. JGhotier Says:

Speaking of stepping on a “bottle”, between Joe today w/ the double “can rule out Godwin can rule out Godwin” sentence and yesterday’s proclamation that “the NFC is weak”, it sounds like Joe has been sipping on said bottle and pedal to the metal style….or holding his hits in for too long 😂

“NFC is weak” – that means you’re either a) implying the AFC is stronger, or b) if that’s not the case, than you’re implying the League as a whole must be weak – either way, SMH and neither is true!

With all due respect….get it together good sir

  12. Defense Rules Says:

Ardnagy … My bad, I thought you were a Bucs fan. Won’t make the same mistake twice

There is medicated Tmaxipad with his hot take. How does this dude always get the first comment in on pretty much all of the articles? Retired like original tmaxipad?

    Name says it all,Pete

  15. BuccoBrews Says:

Godwin is underrated by most Bucs fans in my opinion

    Just delete it Joe.

  18. Buczilla Says:

Godwin is talented, tough, and has the best hands on our team, but if he misses significant time for the third year in a row, I’d let some other team make the mistake of paying him like a star.

  19. E.V. Says:

THE COMMENT SOME IGNORANT PEOPLE MAKE WHO HAVE NO KNOWLEDGE OF FOOTBALL. FIRST OF ALL GODWIN IS ONE HELL OF A PLAYER AND HE PLAYS THROUGH INJURIES NOT LIKE MOST PLAYERS THAT HAVE A BROKEN FINGERNAIL.. WITHOUT GODWIN WE WOULD BE 2-6 MAYBE WORSE. BRADY SAT RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIS FUMBLE AND LOOKED AT THE BALL WHEN HE COULD OF JUMPED ON IT. JUST BECAUSE BRADY IS GOOD DON’T MEAN HE SCREWS UP ALOT LIKE MISSING EVANS WIDE OPEN DEEP MOST OF THE TIME. AND THE PLAY CALLING LETS SEE IF THEY STRAIGHTENED EVERYTHING OUT DURING THEIR BYE WEEK LIKE LAST YEAR.
