Bruce Arians Climbs Historic Ladder

November 29th, 2021

It’s easy to lose sight of what Bucco Bruce Arians has accomplished as a head coach. He has few peers.

First, Joe will keep it local. Arians is 26-17 in regular-season games with our beloved Bucs. That’s a .604 winning percentage, significantly better than Hall of Fame coach Father Dungy (.563) had in his six Tampa Bay seasons. Of course, Arians is undefeated in the Bucs postseason at 4-0.

Overall, Arians is 84-50-1 as an NFL head coach in the regular season, if you include his interim duties in Indianapolis when he took over after Chuck Pagano was diagnosed with cancer in 2012. That (.626) winning percentage ranks highly among the greats of the modern NFL era.

Andy Reid, for example, has a .629 winning percentage, nearly a statistical tie with Sean Payton. Mike Tomlin is at .643 through his 15 seasons in Pittsburgh. Arians sits ahead of John Harbaugh and Bill Cowher while looking up, of course, at Bill Belicheat, Father Dungy and Sean McVay.

If the Bucs close this season winning five out of six and march to the Super Bowl, Arians would have a .636 winning percentage in the regular season and a hell of a postseason record. That should be enough to get him into the Pro Football Hall of Fame one day.

What has happened to Medicated Pete?…….This is where I expect him to slip into his Realist habit of denigrating BA.

  2. Buc55 Says:

I think his meds weren’t enough to tolerate yesterday’s nail bitter game…

  3. PSL Bob Says:

BA’s had a great cast of players to work with here in Tampa. His % as a Bucs coach would be even higher if Jameis hadn’t thrown all those picks and cost us games. The man tells it like it is and drinks bourbon. What more do you want from your head coach.

  4. sauron's eye Says:

Best coach the team has ever had. It was not a high bar.

  5. August 1976 Buc Says:

Is BA perfect, not a chance, but the way some WANNABE COACHES post on here, you would think BA is some kind of Bum.

BA is a good coach with a WINNING record as a Head Coach.

    That is a FACT.

OKAY WANNABE COACHES, HERE IS YOUR CHANCE TO ARGUE WITH FACTS

YEAH YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE, LOL THE ONES THAT RAG ON BA MULTIPLE TIMES A WEEK, EVERY WEEK LOL

WANNABE COACHES THAT ARE LEGENDS IN THEIR OWN MINDS.

    GO BUCS!!!!!

TBBF, if he doesn’t Listnfrmafar will do it.

  7. Listnfrmafar Says:

HMMM, since Brady he is 19-8 reg season. Congrats he won 7- 9 as a Buc on his own. When he can beat McVay and Payton let’s talk.

  8. August 1976 Buc Says:

    Ok List here you go.
2019 Bucs 55-40 win over Rams in LA
2020 Bucs 30-20 playoff win over the Saints in New Orleans

Oh and go watch the last few games of 2019, and how Jameis played his way out of Tampa, costing the Bucs a winning record.

And the final pass by Jameis as a Buc for a pick 6 to finish 2019.

    Cannot blame that on Bruce.

But you know list you are always wanting to argue with facts lol lol

Whether you like it or not List, the facts are still there

I do not know, but seem like a bitter ex coach.

You know with the way you like to make statements all the time about how different things that can be done, but always with a negative twist about the coaches.

    Are you currently Coaching now?

You make many valid observations, but why slam people and ignore the facts. Maybe be honest with your slams, How ? By acknowledging both sides of BA and the Coaches and players this team. It is never just coaching, and it is never just the players, you know that.

You just slam these Winning Coaches, but never state the both sides of the facts about the situation, you know, how a player could have done better.
No, your bias is always how the Coach sux, even though they did miss a block or tackle or throw an interception.
BA has never jumped offsides yet, or fumbled the ball, that is on the player.

Joe stated BA’s record vs other Head Coaches records.
    These are just some facts.
So hey let’s argue with the Facts lol “because I think they suck, even though the facts are staring me in the face”.

Well we have heard that song before, it goes something like “It’s my party and I will cry if I want too”

Again you just look like a disgruntled current coach or former coach. Maybe you are and maybe you are not, I do not know.

    Have another great day List

    GO BUCS!!!!

Why does Arians have to look up at Sean McVay? What the hell has that dude ever won? Making it to a super bowl is nice, but Bruce actually won one. You know he had a hand in foolishly making sure that broke a$$ Gurely (yes, I’m still bitter that he won OROY over Winston) got paid too. He’s got fantastic taste in women, but outside of that, I don’t get all of the love for this guy.

August 1976 – THANK YOU FOR TELLING THESE FAKE FAN’S THE TRUTH !! IT’S LIKE , NO MATTER WHAT THE BUCS DO , THEY ALWAYS FIND SOMETHING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT !! LET’S JUST ENJOY THIS GREAT TIME AS A BUCS FAN WHILE IT LAST !! GO BUCS

  11. Listnfrmafar Says:

August, seriously? I’m no Jamais fan but blaming him for a 7-9 record? He ran BA’s offense! Jamais seems to be doing OK for Payton, before the injury he was making Bucs D look foolish. Shape it anyway you like without Brady and I’ll throw in Gronk, AB & Lenny (all 3 wouldn’t go to a losing franchise) the Bucs would still be in the losing bracket. Oh and don’t use the no QB excuse because Pat’s are doing it with a rookie and other teams are winning with guys like Tannahill & Wentz.

  12. August 1976 Buc Says:

Did you watch the Bucs 2019 season? Every game?
Have you even watched any Bucs games from 2019?
Most likely not seeing the statements have made.
Go watch the Houston game and the Atlanta games, the last 2 games of the season.
In the houston game Jameis threw a pick 6 on the opening possession and then second drive threw another int that was used to score a quick Fg about the 10 yard line.
The Bucs were down 0-10 and the defense had not even given up a first first down yet.
And then the pick 6 on a short pass to lose the game against ATL.
Go back and watch the games for yourself.
Yeah blame BA for that simple short pass that was picked off to win the game.
Go back and watch for yourself before you make your curious negative statements.
Jameis played his way out of Tampa.
Sean Payton had Jameis on a leash, as you and everyone knows.
He was throwing for less than 200 yards a game for Sean Payton.

Oh about your McVey and Payton comments,
Yes the Bucs and BA wiped out the Rams 55-40, McVey’s worst beatdown as a ram Coach, go back and check for yourself.
And the Bucs beating the Saints in the playoffs last year as you know.

Again you can see the facts about BA and his record overall are on par with some of the best Coaches historically, argue all you want, but it does not change a thing about his record.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  13. Listnfrmafar Says:

One question, who made him Bucs starting QB???? The answer is the reason Bucs went 7-9. Jets are doing the same thing right now starting Zak Wilson, he is a turnover machine and they will continue to lose if they continue to play him. That’s not on Wilson.

  14. August 1976 Buc Says:

Lol so you are saying you did not actually watch the games in 2019. lol
    Have a good day list.

    GO BUCS!!!!!!
