Another Mike Evans Mystery

November 14th, 2021

At least twice last season, perhaps three times, Bucs coaches publicly lamented not throwing the ball enough to Mike Evans.

After today’s groin-stomp loss to Washington today, Joe is wondering why coaches didn’t learn their own lessons.

Evans was targeted just three times. One was an underneath route to close the first half when the Bucs should have been throwing a Hail Mary to the end zone. They waited until the forth quarter to take a shot to Evans, and it turned into their second touchdown of the game, a 40-yarder and the Bucs’ biggest play.

That’s just unacceptable against a Washington defense minus two key pass rushers and without stars in its secondary.

Take a few shots. Few in the NFL are better than Evans are better at drawing pass interference calls.

Where was the no-risk-it-no-biscuit mentality all day?

The Bucs didn’t look like Super Bowl champs — or contenders. Joe truly is sick for the first time since the 2020 bye week.

    Because our coach’s suck.

  2. Posey99 Says:

Terrible play calling and discipline by the O-line and WR’s. This game is on the offense

  3. NashvilleBuc Says:

Not even a playoff team. Embarrassment.

  4. EA Says:

Tom brady is not himself, perhaps some.sort of distraction ? This team will go as far as Brady does.Time of possession was 40/20 mins, defense was gassed. Didn’t understand the decision to get the ball to start the game

  5. Miller5252 Says:

You can see Evans multiple times today just to check down to stone hands Lenny. Why have him if you never use him. Someone’s gotta tell me why Brady and Evans can’t get on the same page.

  6. TheBucsAnthem Says:

Blame Byron Suckwich for being a bad play caller Joe

Byron to Brady…… “Listen Tom, we ain’t got no offense right now…..so just check down the ball to Leonard as much as possible….ok!”

    LOL

Didn’t understand the decision to get the ball to start the game.

You supposedly have a top-ranked offense going up against a supposedly bottom-ranked pass defense. Take an early lead and give your D some breathing room. And then OJ Howard forgets what snap counts are….

  8. Buc92’ Says:

Whole staff has been getting waxed the past few weeks , they are clearly the weak link . The wheels are shaking , we lose next week to the giants the wheels coming off for sure . The age is showing sooner then we anticipated

    GoBucs!

  9. Surfslowson Says:

Until the touchdown pass I said is Evans playing, why is Brady’s first read this game LF at 3 yards?

  10. Chris Cotten Says:

    Turrible

  11. Leighroy Says:

Brady was check down Charlie all game except for the TD to Evans. 6.5 yards per attempt? Pitiful

  12. Rod Munch Says:

Where was the no-risk-it-no-biscuit mentality all day?

    ——-

Punting in the 4th quarter, down by 2 scores, with a hapless defense that can’t stop anyone… Arians has no balls, the SB went to his head, now he’s going to be an old conservative coach, say boring things post game like ‘they were better than us today’, and he’ll probably stop drinking too.

  13. SOEbuc Says:

That was ugly as all can be with those screens and check down all day. Very bad play calling.

  14. ModHairKen Says:

Leftwich had a lousy game plan, which Brady executed with all of the vigor of a wet paper towel.

  15. Rod Munch Says:

I’m looking for my preseason record prediction where I said the Bucs would lose…
    @Rams
    @Saints
    @Redskins

Also said they’d lose to the Giants and Bills. So get ready for next week, ladies.

Meanwhile the dopes in here were saying perfect season and calling me an idiot for correctly predicting what would happen so far. Once I find it, I’ll post it along with the names of the morons calling me an idiot saying I don’t know football.

  16. Rod Munch Says:

While I look for my correct record prediction, just finding other jewels like this…

Ladies, the NFL is a team sport. Stafford isn’t the reason the Lions lost in the playoffs, it’s the reason they got there in the first place.

A gunslinger like Stafford can carry a mediocre team only so far before he’s outgunned when playing better teams. I’m not saying he’s a SB caliber QB, but to dismiss him because he’s played on middling teams is pretty dumb.

It’s remarkable how some people just don’t get it.

@ Rod “Honey” Munch. Again Stafford has 8 wins–67 losses against teams that finished the regular season with a winning record. THE STATS don’t lie. As QB his hands touch the ball every offensive play. Can’t run from the truth, but you sure can spin from it.

    So, yeah…

  17. dmatt Says:

What kind of play calling was that Byron? Are u serious? The WFT defense knew when the play was going to Fournette. As for our defense, shame, shame, shame.

  18. Buczilla Says:

Our defense is garbage, Brady is off, and our coaching has been a$$. Not throwing more to Mike didn’t help, but we deserved to take another butt whooping all around. Lol, what the hell is going on man?!?

  19. BucfaninMi Says:

    It’s in the script

  20. Bojim Says:

Offense and defence sucked. Proof? We lost the game that we should’ve won big.

    Rod munch doesn’t know football.

  21. Im not tired anymore we Super Bowl Champs!! Says:

    Rod Munch your an idiot.

  22. Im not tired anymore we Super Bowl Champs!! Says:

    Seriously dude get over yourself.

  23. Bob in valrico Says:

Brady has not been comfortable for a couple of weeks. He is so busy checking down to backs ,he is missing TD opportunities. We got offensive talent and Brady needs to get the ball to them Why can’t we sustain 80 yard drives anymore.
    .

  24. Leighroy Says:

    Rod, we don’t care.

  25. GBUCin MD Says:

Monday night next week will be another debacle…. play down to competition and u get your asses handed to you

  26. Joe in Michigan Says:

Rod Munch, the all knowing…STFU, nobody cares about any of your predictions, except for you.

  27. captivajim Says:

thought teams couldn’t run on us ????

  28. The Beer Whisperer Says:

I’ll say this. It wasn’t Brady’s best game, but the Bucs dropped too many passes.

The WTFs didn’t drop many, at all.

All this hoopla, about Bucs some of these receivers is hogwash.

  29. webster Says:

Stop with leftwich is calling 10 check downs to fournette crap. Thats on the qb who he throws to. Just like winston being over aggressive and not taking the checkdown, brady was overly conservative after the 2 ints.

  30. Bob in valrico Says:

Number 1 offense, What number 1 offense? Both our td’s were off short fields
Brady was outplayed and could not sustain longer drives . IMO he needs to not be so quick to checkdown and find the open man.

  31. August 1976 Buc Says:

Some people take themselves a little to seriously lol
maybe fix the supply chain issues world wide right now, in the US and Asia lol, you know something with some REAL SUBSTANCE lol lol not picking wins and losses for the Bucs lol lol or another team lol

GO you big Motley Crew of Bucs!!!!!

  32. The Beer Whisperer Says:

I should say, I agree with Joe.
Throw the ball to Evans, let him get it. He has good hands.

I don’t care what anyone says.

  33. TheBucsAnthem Says:

    Supply Chain talk???

What’s next????………..you gonna start talking about the New World Order now??????

    Meh

  34. August 1976 Buc Says:

    I live in Asia Anthem,
black outs across much of China and India, it is not just the US, Huge problem in alot of places over here with massive power outages because of a lack of Coal. Big supply chain problems and winter is coming on, not good for millions of people in Asia

  35. MarkV Says:

Very similar team to what we has around Jameis 2 years ago. Marginally coached, not well disciplined and wildly inconsistent. Sure we can go on a run…but we can also play like dogs. The only reason we’re more successful is Tom Brady. Put Jameis back on this team and we’re right back to a .500 ball club at best

  36. Listnfrmafar Says:

When a 2-6 QB throws for 300 26 for 32 and 2 tds and burns 10+ minutes to end the game after you bring it to one score, oh without probowl defensive tackle and #1 receiver, that’s coaching and execution. This team played like they were 2-6. BA has these guys living off the past what worked last year won’t work the next ask Andy Reid. Bucs think they’re way better than they are.

  37. Show Me the TDs Says:

@Joe. 1st off, I agree 100%. Second, it’s not the coaches mot throwing the ball to Evans. It’s TB12. I want to know why he’s not.

  38. brooks Says:

At least we one SB last year. won’t see it again for a long time

  39. CGB Spender Says:

This team is not getting out of the wild card. Tom look more and more done when it count

  40. G.Marosi Says:

Season isn’t over yet but we need to win out if we are to go deep in playoffs as losing to a team 2-6 isn’t going to cut it. 13-4 probably even 12-5 wins division and #4 seed vs. #5 probably Rams or Cards? We shall see.
    #GoBucs

  41. Oneilbuc Says:

The only thing I know is if you play the middle of the feild you can stop Brady every time facts!!

  42. Bob Davis Says:

Am I the only one that saw Tom through 2 strangely off target (for him) passes in the 2 previous games before this shellacking? Of course everyone makes mistakes but it seemed to me that something was missing… even if just a few times. I didn’t get to see this game but it was obviously well below what we are used to seeing from the Goat. I am a totally loyal Brady fan, but I have to confess that when he recently said he could go till he was 50, I had an ominous vibe and wondered if God might have decided to …well, I don’t want to go any further with this. Mock me if you will, but I think he would do well to have a talk with the Good Lord and sort of acknowledge that any ability or talent we have is only by the grace of God…and that the Lord gives and the Lord takes away. I hope he will see the light here, and maybe ask his Maker if he might be enabled to have one final season of grace. I know his lovely wife Giselle would be thrilled to have it so.

  43. Oneilbuc Says:

Bob . Love your post brother but it wasn’t Brady fault for what Joe posted. Sports ain’t that serious matter of fact ain’t nothing in this world is that important to mock God not even our own life’s. But we will be ok .
