Two More Hall Of Famers To Pass

October 29th, 2021

Joe finds it odd sometimes when fans don’t realize Mike Evans is among the all-time great receivers.

Right now, Evans’ 68 career touchdown receptions tie him with Hall of Famers Art Monk and Raymond Berry. Monk played 16 years and Berry played 13.

For more modern perspective, with another nine touchdowns catches this regular season (very doable) Evans will tie Joey Galloway for 33rd on the all-time list for TD receptions. Galloway played 16 seasons (1995-2010); Evans is in his eighth year. Also, Evans is just 13 touchdown catches behind Steve Smith on the all-time list. Like Galloway, Smith played 16 years (2001-2016).

Evans already has a display in the Hall of Fame for his NFL record of seven consecutive seasons of 1,000 yards or more to start a career. Barring injury, he’ll make it eight.

It’s crazy to think that if 28-year-old Evans can keep his game at a high level for at least another few seasons, he will be in the argument for greatest Buccaneer of all-time.

Appreciate him.

And by all accounts – an overall great guy. Appreciate him indeed

  2. Robert Says:

meh…… he should consider converting to TE in a couple years. Then he might have a chance.

    He good and all that.

but it’s the equivalent of being the best of a bad lot in TB weapons. He’s had the advantage of being THE guy for years.

Kinda like the one cute chick in a group of baggers

  3. Medicated Pete Says:

If he makes it to 100, he’s in but Pete doesn’t think Mike will play that long.

  4. Robert Says:

    I need to be medicated……my wife’s words.

  5. Steven007 Says:

The Evans hater troll patrol made it here early. Nice job ladies.

  6. David Says:

    Joe

It is just the same 2 ignorant people, Robert and Pete. They are pretty much clueless when it comes to football. I’ve said it in another post, some people think a great receiver is only great if they’re speedy and quick, like Hill. It’s just ignorance. Miller and Brown and Evans and Godwin are all different types of receivers.

When the year is over, Evans is going to approximately average 1150 yards and 9/10 touchdowns a season for 8 straight seasons.

I will take that mediocre meh on my team all day every day

  7. zzbuc Says:

    I agree with you Joe100%!!

ME13 is one of the best Bucs ever, great stats, great teammate, no diva, coaches love him, 99% of fans love him….what else do they need??

But sooner or later we should not listen anymore to ME13 doubters, we can’t go 15 rounds with this.

  8. Medicated Pete Says:

Pete wants #13 in the HOF & he’s a great person but he continues to be an underachiever. Needs to step-up his game awareness & play

  9. BridleoaksBuc Says:

    Steven!🤣🤣🤣

  10. Miller5252 Says:

Evans will be a HOF no matter what the haters do. Plus he’ll go down as one of the Bucs ever, possibly the best! Him and Fitzgerald are both a rarity. Superstars, great teammates and even a better person outside football. Coming from Evans back story it’s amazing he turned out the way he did.

Comparing him to these other receivers who played 16 season isn’t really fair. Yes, Evans is doing it faster then these guys but the NFL. Has changed so much since Galloway it’s not even funny. If they keep going the way they are with rules all the offensive records will fall at some point. Brady talked about it during his show, Let’s Go. He said he would have never thrown the 600 ball to Evans because of what would have happened to Evans in the past. He had some good takes on it. All that said…. Evans should go down as one of the best ever period!

  11. Medicated Pete Says:

    DeSean Jackson wants traded!! Haha

  12. lambeau Says:

Wait–are you saying there are only 50 guys ahead of him, like Gronk and AB?

  13. The Daily Coroner Says:

    Robert.
I’m a doctor. Your wife is right.

  14. VSyl Says:

One of the reasons Brady came to the bucs was the receiving core, Evans included. Last game Brady threw 3 TDs to Evans, that’s a sign of trust, for sure. So, these Evans haters probably know more about football skills than Brady…

  15. SlyPirate Says:

Rice has the most consecutive +1000 yard seasons at 11. They came in the middle of his career.

I’d love to see M1k3 tie Moss’ 11 consecutive to start his career. He’ll get 8-9 with TB12. It really just depends who comes in after Brady.

Barring injury, Evans will finish top 5 receiving yards all time.

  16. Jeff Says:

Mike’s a beast. I wish we could see more of his personality. There is a negative vibe thing he gives off. Body language issues. It’s makes me not like him as much. But logically I know he’s awesome for this team. Anyone else feel this way?

  17. KingLDavid54 Says:

    @Jeff

I think Mike is very hard on himself and it can come across in the wrong way.

  18. Mike Says:

Mike could do more but teams often double him. I would love to see more 50/50 balls thrown deep to Mike and let him just gather himself and go up and high point the ball against smaller defensive backs.

  19. Anonymous Says:

@Jeff ….With al due respect I Don’t feel that way, on the contrary, I feel a positive vibe…I have no doubt in my mind he is one of the best Bucs ever….

  20. Austin Says:

Robert, you’re an idiot. leave the board, throw away your Bucs stuff, and bounce

  21. KingLDavid54 Says:

    @Mike

From someone who saw ME13 bail out previous QBs way too many times on 50/50 or less balls, I certainly appreciate TB12’s more selective decision-making!

  22. NYC AfroBuc Says:

Mike Evans is the truth. Very happy that he’s a great Buccaneer and seemingly great person as well. There are so many guys to root for on this team. How good do we have it this year as fans?

  23. unbelievable Says:

Always the same story with Robert & Pete:

    Two dumbs in a dumpster.

  24. unbelievable Says:

    As for Evans… Beast!!!

Not the fastest or the best with YAC, but he’s a redzone nightmare, almost always open if not double teamed, a strong blocker, and an all-around stand up teammate.

  25. Infomeplease Says:

Show me another receiver with 7 consecutive 1000+ yard seasons to start his career and I’ll show a better receiver than ME!! Oh yah there aren’t any!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CASE CLOSED!!!!! Let’s F in Go?!!!

  26. SB~LV Says:

Different game easier stats … still he has huge game and has not let up from Johnny Manziel days

  27. WalkdaPlank Says:

Seems Medicated Pete is still using the “no-no”, schedule 1 medication. Unjustified hate for Mike Evans makes no sense to me.

You’d think he was Mike Clayton.

  28. geno711 Says:

Mike Evans 68 receiving TD’s are the most of any receiver since he joined the league in 2014.

Seems to me being able to score is the most important thing for any receiver. This dude scores TD’s.

    HOF easy.

  29. Swampbuc Says:

TB has already declared Mike a hall of famer. But what would he know about the passing game and judging who is an elite receiver and who isn’t?

  30. Sport Says:

I think one of the reasons he doesn’t get the love from some guys is because he doesn’t get wide azz open like some other receivers do.

    Doesn’t have blazing speed
    Doesn’t have amazing juke skills
    Doesn’t show amazing hops

He just doesn’t flash in ways some other guys do.

What he does do is catch damn near anything whether it’s pretty or not. He’s a large dude who gets it done.

    He’s a gamer.

He’s been the #1 receiver from the day he got here and all he’s done is produce!!!

    He’s a Pulp Fiction Wallet..

    In BA I Trust!

  31. Jack Burton Mercer Says:

He’s the best Buc receiver ever and has been for quite some time. I simply cannot conceive of anything he could do to surpass Lee Roy Selmon as the Greatest Buccaneer of All Time. #2 is a good goal for Evans.

  32. Buc and roll Says:

Of course hes a first ballot hall-of-famer

and if Brady stays 2 or 3 or 4 more years
he’ll have the stats to stack up against rice moss owens
or any other great hall of fame wide receiver in the top 5 all time
in touchdowns receiving yards and receptions

    Oh and by the way
    he gives footballs to fans

I can’t think of any better way to celebrate his greatness than that

    hell
that guy he gave Brady’s 600th t.d.pass to is still getting paid

    by members of the buccaneers
    in memorabilia
    and bitcoins

ask him what he thinks of Mike Evans

  33. Buc and roll Says:

    Mike Evans drops the Mic…..

  34. Nicholas Ray II Says:

Let’s just remember that Brady played with Galloway towards the end of his reign and couldn’t stand him. Very one dimensional. Same with Ocho Cinco. Evans doesn’t need to prove anything. Will easily go down as the Bucs best WalR

  35. Chris Boyd Says:

Evans and LVD man. They’ve been the only bright spots in the last decade up until now. I’m so happy we have got to have those two men in our locker room, and I am even more thrilled that they got to experience this run. I love ME13

  36. August 1976 Buc Says:

Mike has been consistently good for his career,
BUT the GREATEST BUC OF ALL TIME IS PLAYING QB RIGHT NOW…..TOM BRADY, the greatest Patriot also.
I am a franchise long fan, since 1976, BRADY is the GREATEST BUC OF ALL TIME, It does not matter to me if he played 1 game as a Buc, he is still the GOAT of the BUCS and the GOAT QB in the storied history of the NFL.

    GO BUCS!!!!

  37. Jason Says:

If only he quit begging for a flag on every single play. LoL.

  38. Wesley Says:

    Imagine thinking Godwin is better.

  39. Listnfrmafar Says:

VyZl, Brady threw to Evan’s because Brate dropped on in the end zone earlier and without AB went solely to Evan’s and Godwin. A few to Johnson. Chicago was able to stop the dump offs to Lenny which opened up the deeper pass. Joe, a lot more passing than when Galloway & Smith played. Even though he sucks as a commentator Smith was a great tough receiver. Evan’s is better but not as tough. What I really enjoy about Evan’s is his team comradory. He should be in the hof just for that alone. Probably not first ballot but a lock for hof.

  40. Man Child Says:

Did MK13 have inappropriate relations with some of these disgruntled posters wives or something?

  41. K Duff Says:

I don’t like Evans as much as AB or Godwin. Evans just isn’t in sync with TB12 the way the others are.
He often quits on plays / routes only for Brady to throw the ball to where he should have been.
He also doesn’t try to make difficult catches like AB or Godwin do. He won’t dive like those two.

  42. Steve M. Says:

Evans should be in the HOF. But TB12 is already the BUC’s goat,
for all the ways that he has helped the team become better,
including his coaching on both sides of the ball and the talent he convinced to come back and the new players he brought in.
