Saints Suffer Major Injury; Break For Bucs

October 26th, 2021

Life just got easier for Vita Vea

Joe can’t celebrate another man’s injury, but facts are facts.

Five-time Pro Bowl Saints left guard Andrus Peat likely has a torn pectoral muscle suffered last night against the Seahawks and will miss Sunday’s game against the Bucs if not the entire season.

Peat, 27, was a first-round pick in 2015 and signed a gargantuan contract extension with New Orleans in 2020. Bucs fans might know him best as the big reason Ali Marpet can’t get in the Pro Bowl.

Peat’s backup is undrafted second-year man Calvin Throckmorton out of the University of Oregon.

This situation represents a huge break for the Bucs. The greatest strength of the Saints certainly lies in the trenches (certainly not at quarterback) and Peat is a huge part of that.

Joe can’t wait to see what Todd Bowles cooks up to take advantage of Throckmorton.

Bring a fork, Vea Vea. It’s time to eat.

Check out PFF’s grade on this JAG…worst in the League, I believe…

  2. tampabuscsbro Says:

I still can’t believe this guy made multiple pro bowls yet Marpet couldn’t get into one.

Screw PFF just watch him play he is just average as Stu said just a JAG.

  3. Medicated Pete Says:

Jameis has no WR’s either. Stop Kamara & game over

  4. SufferingSince76 Says:

I’ll celebrate for you, Joe. Couldn’t have happened to a better team.

  5. Bird Says:

White blitzing up the middle for sure now

Hope lavonte back cause you almost need two spies on kamara
    Dude is a beast

  6. Bucsfanman Says:

Still have to play the game but, this should make it a little easier to get to JW. I wonder if anyone has a scouting report on what causes JW to throw so many INTs?!

  7. PassingThru Says:

The New Orleans WRs are on a par with the Buc CBs, that’s the wild card in this game. New Orleans is not good at moving the chains, but they are efficient when they do get into the red zone. That should entail Payton allowing Winston a little more freedom as he’s been strictly a game manager so far this season. They’ll also use Kamara to attack the second level as a receiving threat, and hope for the best out of a handful of trick plays. I’m sure Payton took notice on how the Buc defense got confused on a handful of running plays against Chicago, so some sleight of hand/RPO makes sense.

New Orleans at home is very effective at red zone defense. This is a game where you want Gronk and AB, the former might be available.

  8. FrankPillow Says:

Jaboo is playing well, 41 is beastly, and the Saints D is pretty darn good. We all know Lattimore = 13s Kryptonite. This is going to be a very challenging game on the road.

  9. Stanglassman Says:

Demario Davis Is the key the the Saints defense. Make sure that guy doesn’t dominate the game like he did last night.

  10. Francisco Guzman Says:

Saints still have a good OL. Bucs need to play 60 minutes on the road against the saints on sunday. Need to execute.

  11. Ivan Aviles Says:

You can’t use the Seattle game as a barometer for their D. Geno Smith is awful, he spent most of his drop backs going backwards, unsure and indecisive. Two things Brady is not. You can beat their D by getting the ball out quickly. Again, Bradys strengths.

  12. Biff Barker Says:

Bird, didn’t LVD have a key tackle of Kamara in the playoff game last year?
It’d be great to have him back, LVD isnt a NOLA fan since he endured the sad years,
Anyway, props to Minter for not getting his name called much,

  13. ocala Says:

The lack of weapons outside of Kamara is obvious. If LD, Devin White and and Whitehead keep him in check the Saints will have a difficult time keeping up with the explosive Bucs.

  14. adam from ny Says:

i’m changing my tune on this one..i think we will win it…

the aints record is better than the aints…

    they are more of a 3-3 team…

no way these mofos move to 5-2 to be breathing down our necks…

in the past this is a game we lose…

    not with tom tho…

he will have the boys ready – and preach to get this win – then rest up…i don’t think he and the bucs will slack right before the bye week – as i had originally thought…

i think they pull out a solid type win here with an early guestimate of say 30-20…

the saints are just not that good and will be lucky to win 10 games this year..max would be 11-6…but i see them as a 9-8 or 10-7 team in the end

  15. adam from ny Says:

don’t sleep, peat is a very good player and always has been…the dude is good

  16. Buc king Says:

I’m just hoping to get David n gronk back….would like some updates on secondary

  17. Chris@Apple Roof Cleaning Tampa Says:

These Saints are just not the same team as when they still had Drew Brees.
To beat us requires a shoot out game, because you just know we will put up a Ton of points.
The Saints struggled to put up 13 points on Seattle, and will need to put up much more that that to beat us.

  18. Jerry Says:

Winston also didn’t look bad because he didn’t really do much. They have really scaled back the offense. Sean Payton knows Jameis is no Drew Brees so he’s trying to keep Jameis from getting into bad situations and doing too much. Their receivers are really struggling. So other than Kamara, they don’t have the playmakers that can consistently expose our injured secondary. Maybe they decide to let Jameis free a bit more in this one and open up the offense. But I do not see Jameis outscoring Tom Brady straight up. The Saints are going to need to force some turnovers if the game becomes like that.

  19. zzbuc Says:

Peat is a great player, but IMO Marpet is better……Another injustice on pro bowl selection, like LVD, Vea,Shaq, TB12,and CG…… And maybe some more……That happens when you are not a top tier team…..

  20. sasquatch Says:

I would love to see WInston just get cremated. I’d be aiming for 7 sacks and 3 picks. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

  21. Buczilla Says:

Peat is a good player, but not in as good as Ali. If Marpet hadn’t missed some time last year, I’m thinking he would have made his first pro bowl though despite the majority of the folks voting for it are clueless, homer, morons. Our players always have and always will get screwed over for awards even when we are winning.

  22. Jersey buc Says:

Jaymiss better bring more than dink n dunk 13 points next week.
Stop kamara is the priority. Hopefully David will be back could use his speed on edge to edge. Put up points let that dude have to throw to catch up we all know how that will end. Picks!

  23. Swampbuc Says:

Either pay Alvin with DW or bracket him. Rush the pizz out of JaMiss. Lean on the screen game on offense, Latimore is a bitch but he is probably the best cover CB in the game and they’ll be “two-highing” us all day.

    Run over their azzes!

  24. Swampbuc Says:

    Spy

  25. SlyPirate Says:

Calvin Throckmorton was a stud at UO. I wanted the Bucs to grab him.

That said, replacing a perennial Pro Bowler with a rookie is a hit.

Putting that rookie against Vea is a recipe for disaster.

  26. Roy T. Buford Says:

I’d like to say you never like to see an key injury on your opponent’s team. But that would be a lie!

What I worry about is Peat protects Winston’s blind side, and well, and now there will be more pressure on him. And we know that when Winston is under heavy pressure, he’s cool as a cucumber and makes very sound decisions.

    Another lie.

    Go Bucs!

  27. Kobe Faker Says:

“JW needs Deonta Harris to play Sunday

He is the fast stretch the field receiver. Harris would have caught the 2 dropped go routes last night vs Seattle

If Bowles cant blitz Winston, the saints have enough weapons to destroy the Bucs secondary

Fournette has to run and catch the screen effectively to lessen the heat on Brady.

Whoever the def coordinator pass rushes the opposing QB best wins the game

    Brady vs Winston

*Only chance Saints win is if AB still doesnt play”

    Kobe Faker

  28. Eddie Marz Says:

That’s ok that this guy went down, but what I really want to know is. When are our guys coming back AB GRONK DAVID BUNTTING MILLER SHERMAN etc.?

  29. Hodad Says:

Peat made pro bowls because the Saints have been a playoff team, and a top team for a very long time. Now it’s our turn. Keep Tom upright, beat the saints Sunday, and Marpet along with a few other players will be pro bowlers. I will say if Devin White wants that pro bowl bid he better start playing better than Demario Davis. The two Saints games I’ve watched Davis has stood out. Right now White isn’t even the best MLB in our division, Davis is. I hope White reads this.

  30. Keith Says:

Hoping for 10 sacks. Jameis throwing 3 ints

  31. Infomeplease Says:

Eddie M, if I were a betting man I’d lay some coin down that AB, Gronk, David, and Sherm play on Sunday!!! Can’t see any of them watching this game from the bench!!!! Kinda like last year when Mike Evans played the game with one leg!! GO BUCS!!!!

  32. Eddie Marz Says:

Infomeplease, I hope your right. This is a big division game. Knock these guys off then take a week break. GO BUCS!

  33. Izod Says:

I think minus Michael Thomas, the Saints have the worst receiving corps in the NFL– I honestly think the worst WR on the Bucs roster could start for NO. Ditto for TEs. Winston’s numbers are actually rather impressive given who has to throw to.

All we need to do is take away the dink-and-dunk stuff that NO is relying on now. Given how inconsistent our defense has been this year, that is not a gimme.

  34. Listnfrmafar Says:

Having AB, Gronk or both would make me feel a little better. Larimore will take ME man to man, so may double Godwin. Keep in mind Bucs offense is far better than this time last year. Once again Brady embarrassed by Saints in regular season, still at his age he still does not have short term memory loss he has a score to settle. I can see a blowout coming, expect a lot of Hill Sunday.

  35. DaBux Says:

Assuming we win on Sunday, which we should, there would be nothing better than a Vita Vea bear hug sack of Lobster Man. Seriously.

  36. 2021 Year of the GOAT Says:

we gotta b…tch slap them Aints … back into monday so they start wearing paper bags on there head…

  37. Greg Says:

We know Peyton is an excellent offensive mind and he is showing it again with the short leash he has JW on. Credit to them as JW is fulfilling that role well but that won’t allow them to put up the points to match the Bucs. I expect JW to do ok until they are behind and then the oskies will come.

  38. TampabayDJ82 Says:

ALL THE SO CALLED “EXPERT’S” SAID THE BUCS WOULD BE IN TROUBLE AGAINST THE BEAR’S TOP 10 DEFENSE LAST WEEK !! The AINTS ARE GOING TO BE THE SAME !! AND IF THE BUCS SHUT DOWN ALVIN KAMMARA , WHICH THEY HAVE DONE WELL IN THE PAST , THEN THEY CAN’T SCORE POINTS !! THEY DON’T HAVE RECEIVERS !! MIKE THOMAS IS NOT PLAYING !! AND IT LOOKS LIKE J.W. IS HAVING PROBLEMS WITH HIS OTHER W.R.s

  39. TampabayDJ82 Says:

FRANK PILLOW- YOUR CRAZY IF YOU THINK JABO IS PLAYING GOOD ??!! His stats are padded by the first game against the Packers and a Seattle team that pretty much gave them the game !! Take those 2 games out and what has J.W. DONE ??? A BIG FAT NOTHING !! GO ROOT FOR THE AINTS AND YOUR FAVORITE QB

  40. Ericb Says:

Take away Kamara make JW throw under pressure …game over

  41. Anonymous Says:

Who Dat buc uh hoes going down
