Richard Sherman May Not Be Placed On Injured Reserve

October 15th, 2021

Bucs CB Richard Sherman.

UPDATED 4:45 p.m. – Today in his weekly day-after-game presser, Bucco Bruce Arians said he could not offer specifics on how long veteran corner Richard Sherman would be out as Sherman had yet to undergo an MRI test.

That was late this afternoon.

But it seems Jeremy Fowler of BSPN has an idea.

Fowler Twittered late Friday that preliminary prognoses of Sherman’s blown hamstring say he may miss being placed on the injured reserve list, which would require Sherman miss a minimum of three games.

The Bucs bye week is the weekend of Nov. 7 after facing the Bears and the Saints.

Last night Sherman left the game against the Eagles in the first quarter when he suffered a hamstring injury. He did not return.

The Bucs are beat up terribly in the secondary and Sherman’s injury just compounds issues. Thank goodness it appears Jamel Dean is well enough to play well enough.

Sherman Twittered an encouraging update this afternoon.

Seems the dbs got better when he left

we are so fortunate to have a very soft schedule this year compared to years past. come on boys lets get healthy…

  3. Adrnagy Says:

He was working towards “ football speed “ , now ?

  4. SteveK Says:

Time to start talking turkey with teams that could trade DBs, or any other playmaker for the that matter.

The time is now. It’s ok to part with a future pick to help solidify Tempe team now. It’s also ok to trade player for player.

At the very least, let’s call up some old wiley vets and see if they want to be a part of this. We are special. I hope we resign Brady to another extension. Love his ability to command our team. The ultimate field general. He’s the oil of our engine.

grab the guy from his couch Monday, sign contract Tuesday, play in NE Sunday; into NFL, the unforgiven league of injuries… what u expect??!!

  6. Bojim Says:

I think we need to give Sherman a break. Not surprised.

  7. Ash Says:

Lol No trades are going to happen get over that. They will wait it out until starters come back with no season ending injuries just got hang on until then

    I have a strange feeling.
The Bucs are not playing as well as some people are saying.
But still, they manage to win, with a crippled secondary, with Lavonte being out, with some issues on run game …
Our calendar is not the toughest of the league, that’s true.
But if we manage to go through until the bye week.
After that starters will come back, and ho boys!
The guys will have some rest, but more than that, they will have a huge appetite !
It’s not impossible that we will see a playoff even better than the one we saw last season!

  9. DoooshLaRue Says:

    StevenK,

    Who do we trade?

  10. Mike Says:

Basically, he gets the mini bye after the Thursday night game plus the game vs Chicago and the Saints off, then our regular bye.

  11. PassingThru Says:

Darius Slay might be available. Hell, Phili just traded Ertz. That’s an acknowledgment that this season is over for them.

Slay might cost something like a fourth rounder. His contract becomes prohibitively expensive, starting next season. In other words Slay would also cost you the opportunity to re-sign Godwin.

  12. Jerry Says:

Considering we play the Bears and Saints and then have a bye, I think the Bucs are hopeful we can go 7-1 and then get some of these injured guys back. I seriously doubt there will be any trade.

  13. NPRSageBoy Says:

What do you expect when sign a guy off the street and have him play a full game less than a week later?

Seriously, this is a mess with no real solutions in sight for weeks.

    Let’s Go Brandon!

    Peace, out…..

    StevenK,

    Who do we trade

    Exactly…..any player of value…..we need…..who do we trade?….Cappa, Rojo,

And….we need our future draft picks to replace older players like JPP, Suh

Let’s hang in there….our guys will be back for the last 8 games & the post season…..

  15. Bucsfan81 Says:

It was always going to take awhile for Sherman to get back to game speed and learn a new defense. A lot of people being way to hard on him. He will be valuable come playoff time with his knowledge and experience.

  16. David Says:

The good news is Dean is looking pretty good and so is Delaney the rookie. Cockrell I am not so sure about.

I’m assuming if Winfield gets back Edwards will help out in the slot next week against a run heavy bears team.

Then one more week and the bye and hopefully everyone will return sayer that

  17. SteveK Says:

    TBBF,

I would trade OJ. Or, trade a draft pick. Usually, I’d be against it, but the time is now with Brady and only do it the value/right deal presents itself.

I believe any team in contention for the top overall pick would take a third or fourth rounder over a compensatory pick.

  18. Irishmist Says:

I think when Sherman comes back we should save him for red-zone defense where his height, experience and savvy can make the most impact and where he doesn’t have to cover a lot of ground. Save Delaney for in between the 20s where his young legs would be better served covering the deep routes.

  19. Captain Dan Lawrence Says:

Great take on Sherman Irishmist! Go BUCS!

  20. unbelievable Says:

They had him out there playing like 90% of the snaps 3 days after signing after being out of football for a year and coming back from an injury.

    This was destined to happen.

  21. Oxycodoms Says:

That was the mistake with adding sherman he wasnt in football shape but was expected to carry the load immediately. A trade for someone football ready was the correct move

  22. TDTB Says:

Holton Hill is on the Bengals practice squad. Pick him up.

  23. Gordon Brook Says:

Richard Sherman is a great player so I hope he will be back soon so that the Bucs. can win everything. If Sherman does well it will be easy for him to be resigned next year even at his age. He is smart player and will love and admire Tom Brady, and all the great players on the Bucs. team. Sherman has been an outstanding player in his NFL history and I hope he will be very happy being with the Buc, team!
