Jaydon Mickens Is Back

October 19th, 2021

Bucs GM Jason Licht.

Jaydon Mickens is back with the Bucs. Sort of.

The Bucs’ return specialist was released yesterday to make room for offensive lineman John Molchon.

Mickens was signed back to the practice squad today.

Wait, there’s more: The Bucs re-signed cornerback Rashard Robinson who was on the roster earlier this year and played against New England. To clear a roster space for him, the Bucs waived Molchon.

Hope Joe has cleared some things up.

Man, talk about a roller coaster ride

  2. Thisisouryear!!! Says:

Any idea why they would do this? Are they hoping someone will claim them and does it somehow affect the salary cap?

  3. Youngbucs Says:

Joe you have to come up with a nickname for mickens. Maybe 9lives mick 😂

  4. JGhotier Says:

Why not just promote Robinson yesterday instead of promoting Molchon (only to waive him the next day to promote Robinson)? I’m confused as to the reasoning for doing it that way….

  5. Ben the GA Buc Says:

Wtf, none of that makes any sense on the surface. Gotta have something to do with $$.

  6. IrishMist Says:

So the COVID test was negative then?

  7. Marine Buc Says:

    @ Irish

Agreed. Either Cappa or Marpet or Jenson possibly tested positive for the Cvid19… Then tested negative twice?

  8. ClodHopper Says:

    Clear as a bell.

    day drinking at OBP

  10. Defense Rules Says:

Had a gut feeling that Mickens would be back. Quite surprised though about them waiving Molchon. THAT doesn’t make a lick of sense one day after promoting him to the active roster. Obviously a lot more going on than meets the eye.

  11. Dew Says:

Robinson could be a starter if he can stay clean. He has talent but has been suspended constantly.

  12. JimmyJack Says:

Sounds like good news to me. It looked like they might have injury concerns on the front line since they activated an OL. I guess that move wasnt made for injury afterall.

  13. Jason Says:

Just curious, but is it too early to put Scotty Miller on a milk carton?

  14. Jason Says:

Just curious again, but if you get called up to the active roster, and then get cut before playing a game, do you get the league minimum, or the regular practice squad paycheck?

  15. The Beer Whisperer Says:

The Bucs know what they are doing. They just aren’t telling everyone.
Probably, because they figure it’s none of anyone else’s business.

  16. David Says:

My guess is someone on the O line had a scare, whether Covid or some thing else, but all is well now.

Either way, I would love to see Darden get a chance to make an impact at the return game. Mickens had a great first week and hasn’t done a thing since

  17. DayOnePaul Says:

    It’s all about collecting/hiding corners.

  18. Swampbuc Says:

Mickens – message is, know your place, know your role and otherwise stfu.

This tells me they are doing their best to stop the bleeding at corner. But like the lil Dutch boy trying to stop the dam from leaking they are running out of fingers and toes. I’m glad they found a way to hold onto Mickens, he’s not exciting to watch but he does secure the ball on special teams. Bad as a proven beast RB is needed for a backup. It’s time for a trade dealing Rojo for a stud corner or two. Limping through these games our defense should be dominating is a recipe for disaster. We need that 1st seed.
