Jason Pierre-Paul Pulls An Allen Iverson

October 24th, 2021

Warrior is back.

Former star basketball guard Allen Iverson had a comment for the ages when, after being asked about blowing off practices, he went on a long rant highlighted by, “We’re talking practice. Not a game. Practice.”

Bucs outside linebacker Jason Pierre-Paul took a page out of Iverson’s book today.

Though it seemed JPP wanted to practice Friday, Bucs Super Bowl-winning coach Bucco Bruce Arians claimed he wouldn’t let JPP practice. In fact, JPP didn’t practice all week.

Against the Bears? Well, that was something different. JPP came roaring out of the gates.

First, JPP, the spirit of the Bucs’ defense, held a conclave for all of his Bucs teammates at midfield before the game where he gave a passionate speech to fire them up.

And then JPP backed up his words with actions. JPP had two sacks, which included a strip-sack of Bears rookie Justin Fields, a tackle for loss and four tackles in the first half alone.

JPP may have had a third sack, but with his bum hand and the club he’s wearing on it, he couldn’t pull Fields down.

Coaches know JPP is the ultimate warrior and a pro’s pro. The Bucs saved him for the game knowing if there was one man who didn’t need practice, it was JPP.

And JPP delivered. Joe couldn’t be happier for him.

So glad hes a Buc! My favorite defensive player.
Plays hard every play, and a physical Monster!

So what your saying, Swampbuc, is the Bucs still won by 35 points on an off day for Brady. I’ll take it.

  7. Swampbuc Says:

The above post was for a different thread about Michael Irving being right. Sorry.

    Swampbuc….

You are right. They had short fields and benefited greatly from it. The defense really helped out the O today.
I think it would’ve been difficult to go on long sustained drives even though they pass protected fantastic. There was some very tight coverage and Brady was off. There was a couple miscommunications, a couple drops, and he overthrew or missed a few guys that were wide-open

But on an “off” day, he threw 4 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. In the past, an “off” day for a buccaneer quarterback would have been 0 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. So there’s that.

Just get his fingers healthy so he can grab! Otherwise it seems like he’s going to not practice much, get a nice rub down, some ice, a Cortizone shot for the shoulder and then go beast mode every Sunday!

Wish he would heal up definitely didnt need him for this one

Fn warrior is an understatement, he is instilling a mentality that has been missing

  12. RC Says:

This is why they are paid so much money. At any time they could suffer a career ending injury.
