“Doubtful”

October 1st, 2021

The official word is bad. Rob Gronkowski’s battered ribs may not be ready for real football on Sunday night when the Bucs face the Belicheats.

“Doubtful” is how Gronk is listed on the Friday injury report that popped just after 4 p.m.

As Joe wrote earlier, Giovani Bernard (knee) and Jamel Dean (knee) are out. Jason Pierre-Paul (shoulder) officially is “questionable.”

Damn, with Scotty Miller and Sean Murphy-Bunting on injured reserve, the Bucs’ mighty roster is awfully busted up for Week 4.

beside the luck, one reason is very light to non training in preseason.
as far as Gronk, he should not play him. Mr Magoo talks about non broken ribs, yeah, but there are organs after ribs…. they don’t show “broken” on Xray.
Rest Gronk, or he may get worst. No need for him in this game, if we lose because of him, then so be it.
If he cares, like he try to appear on his TV 🤡 interviews, than don’t play Gronk

  2. HC Grover Says:

They are foolin with the Pats. Gronk will play.

  3. Swampbuc Says:

Having JPP back helps immensely, both physically and spiritually. Shaq should be able to get home now. And if AB is back, it lessens the impact of other banged up weapons.

  4. Vsyl Says:

Doubtful is this take that Gronk may not play. He only misses this game if he gets in coma somehow

I agree…..wrap the rib protection…..give him some shots (not Avocado Tequila)…….and, he’ll at leas play a few downs.

We are having our share of injuries thus far…

SMB, Dean, JPP, Scotty, Gio, Gronk….Zach Triner (bet you forgot about him)

IMO….we miss SMB the most….Scotty the least.

Any chance Desir will be activated?

  8. SOEbuc Says:

Out. Wouldn’t want to put him on IR in NE. That’d be something to see.

  9. Jerry Says:

Only 3 games in and we are already banged up all over the place.

We got 14 games to go just in the regular season. We got relatively lucky with injuries last year, but looking like this year is going to trouble.

  10. Defense Rules Says:

Every team has to deal with injuries during the course of the season; we’re just getting hit earlier than most. Hey, such is life.

Offensively we’re at near full strength. Our OLine’s healthy, so is our QB, 3 RBs, plus at least 4 excellent WRs & 2 TEs. Most healthy teams would give their right (OK, pinkie finger) to have the offensive firepower that we’ll be able to field on Sunday.

Defensively we’re hurting for sure, but the sky’s not falling. Our DLine & LB postion groups are intact except for JPP (I still don’t expect him to play). Our Safeties are also at full strength, but our CB group is hurting. Good news seems to be that Mac Jones hasn’t been throwing deep very much, and the Pats really seem to like to run the ball. They’ll score points; we just need to score more. No reason we can’t outscore them given our weapons.

    One word. Flak jacket.

The only way gronk doesn’t play, is if one of your medical guys sticks the needle in too deep, and deflates his lung.

  13. Buc4evr Says:

Gronk plays, JPP plays! I don’t see how either of those guys sit this one out

  14. Andrew Says:

Joe – any word on SMB? Is he done for the season?

  15. Oneilbuc Says:

Most of the time they say doubtful that means he’s out . But I will like to see Howard step up since this is his contract year.

  16. Steve Gaudreau Says:

Yeah I think Gronk plays in the game. How can he not? He should play in redzone situations and score one touchdown and then take the rest of the game off. Just to proverbially punch BB in the face for threatening to trade him to the black hole of Detroit. That’s why he was rumored about being retired. It will be epic if he scores at least one TUDDIE in this game.

What a pic, this must be what medicated Pete looks like after responsibly downing a case of Bromosas
