Dominant Bucs Defense

October 24th, 2021

“Sack” Barrett on fire, too.

Let’s think about this for a second.

The Bucs were playing with cornerbacks, not named Jamel Dean, who were walking the streets panhandling for work a few weeks ago.

Their stud outside linebacker, Jason Pierre-Paul, had not practiced all week.

All-world inside linebacker Lavonte David didn’t even suit up as he is nursing an ankle sprain.

And still the Bucs defense friggin’ mauled the Bears.

The Bucs gave up one field goal. The Bucs forced five turnovers, including three picks of rookie Bears quarterback Justin Fields.

The Bears only converted 2 of 11 first downs, which is sick.

The Bucs did allow 143 yards rushing which will keep Bucs defensive coordinator Todd Bowles up with indigestion tonight. But other than that, it was as dominant of a performance from a banged-up defense as you will see.

And that’s just what good teams do: They throttle a mediocre offense led by a rookie quarterback.

Oh, yeah, the Bucs also had four sacks including two from JPP.

Bring on the slimy Saints.

  6. Craig Says:

2 of 11 third down conversions. Joe is really excited about the Bucs defense, Shaq was everywhere and didn’t even get mentioned.

Yes, they were awesome with warm bodies and walking wounded, think of the possibilities of a healthy team around week fifteen.

  7. SufferingSince76 Says:

It’s great when I can watch a Bucs game without having to reach for my trusty Tums bottle.

  8. Swampbuc Says:

I like giving up 143 yards rushing, no passing yards and 3 points better than 42 rushing yards, 387 yards passing and 27 points.

  9. Buckaroo Boozie Says:

Again make Sherman and Brady player Coaches…. pay them league minimum for position and award Multi-million dollar Coaches contracts to free up cap space…. under current collective bargain agreement its legal and Goodell would have an anyruisum 😁😆
    Parking Lot B concurs🥳

It’s funny, my kid and I were talking about how good the defense did today and we were wondering if we’d start hearing “the Super Bowl defense is back.” Yes they look great today, but let’s not get carried away here. It was a good confidence game, but 1 outta 7 games doesn’t mean they’re back. They had a hell of day at all 3 levels, but until we see this constantly, that Super Bowl D is not back yet.

  11. Defense Rules Says:

Bucs’ defense should move up to a #10 – #12 ranking after allowing on 3 points this PM. Would love to see us end the year as a Top-10 defense to go with a #1 offense.

  12. DoooshLaRue Says:

    Slimy Saints?

They have a really smart coach and a QB who I hear…… has a really high football IQ.
    I even checked his sheet….. and I gotta say….

Do t pencil that win in just yet.
    😂😂😂

  13. David Says:

I want to see Shaq and JPP and Tryon and Vea in Winston‘s face all day!!!!
Let those opportunistic gravediggers get about 3 INT‘s against the Saints!

  14. gp Says:

    Defense Rules
No offense and I like your takes but I couldn’t care less about ranking as long as we get yet another Lombardi!

  15. MadMax Says:

1.1 mill JW is already having nightmares LOL!!!!!!!

  16. David Says:

Didn’t think the Bears rookie QB was gonna get up off the turf a few times
    Looked like Ali mauled him
    Ferocious defense
    In your face

  17. Anonymous Says:

I hate to say it but tampa run defense is starting to get leaky

  18. Brady Micheal Cooper Says:

As much as I love the buc’s, they were playing a horrible team. Completely horrible with a bunch of injuries. Tom was not on fire, but was sufficient. The defense is still not good, a second rate quarterback was still getting it to receivers.
Play the Ram’s again! Celebrate when you beat the upper echelon teams, not the bottom teams. Still too many complete lapses on defense. The reason the run was doing so good is because everybody was passing because the db’s were doing like flies

  19. Brandon Says:

The running game defense stats are bogus. When the Bears lined up to run they were stoned. When they ran against a nickle defense, they did well. They were in clear passing situations and running the ball. Slightly better than a punt. They were playing safe to protect their QB>
